Impelled by the dynamism of its pioneering spirit, Perrelet delivers distinctive pleasure to the own-ers of its rigorously mechanical, resolutely contemporary and absolutely innovative watches. The inventor of automatic winding in 1777, the House of Perrelet masters all the components of the mechanical movements made within the walls of its Manufacture.

For Perrelet, fine watchmaking is a universe of both hand and mind, in which creativity is expressed through rigorous execution, and in which preserving a tradition means continuing and innovating. A universe built on daring inventions, on family talent perpetuated through the ages and expressed in prestigious watchmaking creations.

Heir to his grandfather’s watch-making genius, Louis-Frédéric Perrelet is born in 1781. Demon-strating a predisposition for mechanics and mathematics, he is trained by his grandfather prior to moving to Paris to study in Breg-uet’s workshops. Thanks to his talent, he rapidly proves his skill as an independent watchmaker.

Abraham-Louis Perrelet develops the first podometer and also becomes the first person to create watches with calendar and equation of time functions, as well as cylinder or duplex escapements. He works on further refining gear trains and improving pinions, gears, the escapement as well as his unique automatic winding mechanism.

From the 1770s onwards, Abraham- Louis Perrelet applies himself to perfecting a system which, from one single initial impulse, can continue to function indefinitely. In 1777, he develops his completely revolu-tionary invention – the automatic (self-winding) movement. To this very day nobody has managed to improve on this to give life to mecha-nical calibers and his invention continues to make its mark on watchmaking history.

Perrelet presents the emblematic Turbine model. Inspired by the so-called “Double Rotor” movement, the oscillating weight on the dial side is transformed into a propeller which makes a striking impression with its extreme rotating speed. The Turbine thus opens the door to artis-tic and horological creations that are both unique and authentic.

2 0 1 2

Perrelet takes a decisive new step on the path towards autonomy by adopting and equipping most of its timepieces with Caliber P-321, the first Manufacture-made movement entirely developed and produced within its workshops. New horologi-cal complications are subsequently added to this base caliber. Perrelet thus acquires complete produc-tion autonomy, securing both its creative freedom and its horological legitimacy.

2 0 1 3

Perrelet presents the Turbine Chrono, thereby demonstrating its creative ability to combine the Turbine effect with a watchmaking complication. In the same year, Perrelet also launches its Turbillon model, a clever combination of the Turbine with a Tourbillon caliber, manufactured in its own workshops. Through its two great innovations, Perrelet provides irrefutable proof of its watchmaking expertise and its ability to constantly reinvent its “Turbine” concept.

2 0 1 4

The Turbine gains height. The company presents the Turbine Pilot: a tribute to the world of aviation which, like its Fine Watchmaking counterpart, is based on a blend of daring and calculation. This collec-tion presents a Turbine combined with an aviation slide rule. This same year, Perrelet presents its Turbine Skeleton model combining the Turbine collection’s signature ten-blade titanium wheel with an entirely in-house made skeleton movement. 2 0 1 5

Perrelet celebrates the 20th anni-versary of its iconic Double Rotor concept. With the First Class Double Rotor Skeleton collection, equipped with a Manufacture movement, Ca-liber P-481, Perrelet combines the horological tradition of its innovative Double Rotor with its expertise in the domain of skeleton-working.

The House of Perrelet develops, perfects and produces the first so-called “Double Rotor” caliber: a system unique in its kind, which connects the winding weight of the automatic system to a rotor on the dial side. The Dipteros model thus heralds an important phase for the future of the brand, and paves the way for future new and exclusive developments.

In tribute to Abraham-Louis Perrelet and to perpetuate a longstanding tradition of avant-garde horology, the watchmakers of the Maison Perrelet introduced in 1995 the first Double Rotor P-181 caliber with automatic winding via an oscillating weight, stemming from more than five years of research and development. From a technical standpoint, the Double Rotor represented a major watchmaking breakthrough in which the mechanism derived its energy from two rotors. The first, called the oscillating weight, is placed beneath the movement, while the second, the upper rotor, is positioned on a level with the dial and provides a simple and pleasing means of observing the operation of the automatic winding function. The perfectly synchronized rotation of the two rotors drives the barrel, thereby providing the mechanism with a continuous source of energy that gives the movement faster, more stable and more efficient winding than with a classic system.

In aesthetic terms, the mobile Double Rotor spins on its axis at the slightest movement and thus endows each collection with a unique character and personality enabling each of the timepieces to reveal its highly distinctive aesthetic: classic, contemporary, masculine, feminine, understated or extravagant. This patented innovation which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2015, embodies the quintessence of the watchmaking art and has become a brand icon that contributes to Perrelet’s international renown while consolidating its reputation.

T U R B I N EDrawing aesthetic inspiration from the field of aeronautics, our engineers and watch designers created in 2009 a new interpretation of the Perrelet-patented “Double Rotor”. The latter, transformed for the occasion into a turbine fitted with 12 blades made of aluminium, covers the whole of the dial and slips beneath an inner bezel ring. On the dial surface, stripes accentuate the optical effect and make the impact of this model all the more sensational. Disconnected from the movement oscillating weight, the turbine spins at full speed and creates spectacular visual effects. This is the pioneering model that has become a brand icon: the Turbine collection in its simplest version. The turbine is housed in a 44 mm-diameter concave-shaped case. The crown, specially machined and integrated within the case, respects these perfect lines.

This approach thus gave rise to the Turbine Chrono and Turbillon models. By taking on board the chronograph and the tourbillon, the Turbine model is paving the way for promising future developments. In 2014, Perrelet presented its new Turbine Pilot collection combining the turbine concept with that of the circular avi-ation slide rule: a new exercise in both technical and stylistic terms, for a truly unique aviator watch. In par-allel, Perrelet launched the Turbine Skeleton, a model associating the turbine with a Manufacture-made skeleton movement that reveals its full charm when the turbine located above the dial spins freely and at full speed. In 2015, Perrelet introduces the Turbine GMT collection, equipped with a 24-hour dual-time function. In step with wrist movements, the 10-blade Turbine rotating freely above the dial reveals a globe engraved with a Côtes de Genève motif.

The chronograph measurements are provided by a central seconds chronograph hand and a particularly innovative 60-minute counter. A graduated mobile disk turns in the center of a fixed ring marked with a red arrow bearing the inscription “min” and pointing to the recorded times.

T U R B I N E G M TCircling the globe with the Turbine is the new dream evoked by Perrelet with its Turbine GMT collection. In step with wrist movements, the ten-blade Turbine spinning freely above the dial reveals a globe engraved on a Côtes de Genève background motif. Equipped with a 24-hour dual-time function, the Turbine GMT collection once more combines a horological complication with its iconic turbine concept and yet again proves that its star collection lends itself to all kinds of variations. Designed for keen sportsmen or travellers, the Turbine GMT is available with a 44 mm steel or black PVD-coated steel case, fitted with a blue or black rubber or leather strap.

The Special Editions of the Turbine range are inspired by a variety of themes. With the Turbine Poker, the brand invites us to play poker according to its own rules, with the cards dealt out on the dial indulging in a game of hide-and-seek beneath the characteristic 12-blade wheel. Perrelet’s creative inspiration has also give rise to the Turbine Toxic model, available in both men’s and ladies’ versions. As seductive as a piece of jewelry, it reveals a splendid diamond-set skull appearing beneath the dial when the turbine turns at full speed.

In this collection, the rotor on the dial side depicts flower petals swaying in step with wrist movements. The mother-of-pearl, diamond, black, white or anthracite dials offer a delightful array of colors and contrasts that will elegantly accompany every woman in her daily life.
