More than 900 manufacturers of fabrics and additionals
The stronges BLUEZONE ever shows “DENIM EXTREMES”
ECO VILLAGE expanded
Top-class framework program
First among the international fabric trade fairs, MUNICH FABRIC START will be kicking off the 2016 Spring/Summer season from 2 to 4 February 2015. More than 900 international suppliers from 35 countries will come to Munich to present a distinguished portfolio of 1,500 collections. On show will be the latest developments and innovations in apparel fabrics and findings, plus dressing, finishing and technology from well-established manufacturers, weavers, printers and textile service providers.
MUNICH FABRIC START opens a promising season Spring.Summer 16 under the sujet “OSCILLATION IDENTITIES”.

MUNICH FABRIC START attracts up to 20,000 visitors, including buyers, designers and product managers representing famous brands. They will descend on the sold-out halls of the MOC event centre and to Zenith Hall to examine and source everything they need to design their women’s and men’s collections, from special, top-quality basics to high-fashion fabrics.
OSCILLATING IDENTITIES – trends in the field of tensionThe Spring.Summer 16 season has exciting, new and sometimes unusual trends in store for us that won’t necessarily conform to the prefabricated beauty portrayed in the media or the prevailing aesthetic. A bit of provocation – too large, too wide, too off-the-wall – and a hint of anti-fashion will be mixing up the fashion. It looks like another multifaceted season is upon us: in line with the OSCILLATING IDENTITIES theme, trends will swing back and forth between diverse and parallel cultures, covers, identities, themes and details. Romantic themes have a very strong drive. Wide silhouettes waft dreamily, playful yet elegant. The modern, hot Orient provokes with reduced design and
inspires with textile richness and innovative architecture. Thoughts of the One Thousand & One Days oscillate between an old Byzantine spirit and a futuristic brain. The fashion pendulum swings even higher when sporty high-tech and psychedelic influenced digital Hippies reach their creative peak. Seeing the beauty of imperfection in something modern with a fashion rash isn’t just a discovery for the Zen Master this season – a healthy egotism brings us all back to ourselves and allows us to just enjoy being here now. Of course, our relaxed vibe, with a twinkle in the eye, wouldn’t mind taking a selfie.
The latest denim and sportswear developments and finishes will be on display at the BLUEZONE, which will be staged in the unique ambiance of the adjacent Zenith Hall. Held on 2 and 3 February 2015, the show-in-show at MUNICH FABRIC START continues to enjoy extremely strong demand and offers the denim and sportswear community an optimal setting for work that’s both productive and creative. Running under the
heading of DENIM EXTREMES, the Spring.Summer 16 BLUEZONE will feature a better-than-ever line-up of about 80 international denim weavers, finishers and washers. Leading brands such as Candiani SpA, Isko, Orta Anadolu, Tejidos Royo, Calik and Lanificio Europa SNC will be joined by these notable newcomers: Denim Authority, Industrias Morera Unitin, DNM Textile, Fashion Point and Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills.

In summer 2016, denim is confrontational to the extreme. Radical statements on opposite sides of the fashion spectrum start an exciting dialogue. Extreme widths step on to fashion’s playing field and oppose equally extreme slim silhouettes. Super short shorts are confronted by long coats while extremely clean jeans position themselves just as self-confidently as extremely destroyed denims.
The Paris-based trend & design studio Monsieur-T. will present a creative and inspiring think thank on the Blue Stage at the BLUEZONE to highlight the company’s specialised knowledge of denim trends. Monsieur T. operates internationally as a brand design and market evaluation consultancy and delivers tailored analyses
on seasonal design and sourcing trends to renowned brands. The denim art exhibit staged by the exclusive label “Nadel & Pen” will present pure inspiration and creativity – 100% tailored, 100% hand-crafted and 100% made in France.
Completing the BLUEZONE portfolio are denim-related products such as flats, corduroy, mill-washed fabrics, accessories and the latest innovations for resource-friendly finishes.
// ECO VILLAGE ANDORGANICSELECTION
Sustainability Expert and Sourcing Platform
The ECO VILLAGE is MUNICH FABRIC START’s competence centre for the global sustainability theme and serves as a platform for certification bodies, consultants and non-profit organisations dealing with eco and natural materials as well as ecologically oriented corporate strategies. In response to the great demand the ECO VILLAGE has been expanded this season. A total of 11 partners will
be onsite this season, to answer all questions regarding Eco Fabrics and sustainable textile production. GOTS, IVN, IMO, OEKO-TEX, Fair Wear Foundation, Ceres, bluesign technologies and bioRe will be joined this time by Fairtrade, WRAP and Cotton made in Africa (CmiA). Due to the expanded agenda, events will be held in two presentation venues – the ECO TALK, featuring all lectures and workshops on sustainability, in Room K4 | Foyer Hall . And the TRENDSEMINARS, featuring all trend lectures, in Room K2 | Foyer Hall 1.

The selection of sustainable and ecologically certified fabrics out of a portfolio from 900 international fabric and additionals manufacturers – this is the approach the organicselection follows every season at MUNICH FABRIC START. And herewith gives the answer to the current market needs for information and sourcing opportunities of modern eco fabrics. The success of organicselection has proved that sustainability is essential and gives directions. However, not only are presented modern eco fabrics but as well accessories since a few seasons. Since accessories and findings also require inspection and certification for confirming the sustainability of the complete finished product, certified sustainable additionals will be presented here in a pooled manner. After all, unlike with textiles there are hardly any independent schemes for verifying these requirements for accessories.
Added BenefitThe labels of the fabrics presented at organicselection are additionally tagged with a QR code that directly links to the product page of the specific fabric. Just scan the QR code of the required fabric and you will be linked quick and easily to all technical specifications.
By the Way BLUEZONE, the Denim & Sportswear area, also dedicates a special exhibition area to sustainability issues in the textile industry. In the GREENZONE you may find the sustainable innovations of the BLUEZONE exhibitors.
Innovative Online Sourcing Platform For Eco Fabrics The complete portfolio organicselection is also available online – more than 500 certified fabrics are available on this unique portal. With this move MUNICH FABRIC START has responded to the need for a sustainable textiles sourcing platform available long term and now offers an easy way to source eco fabrics 365 days per year.

// INTERNATIONAL INSPIRATION AND INFORMATION PLATFORM
MUNICH FABRIC START is the first of the leading inter-national trade fairs for fabrics and accessories. Twice a year exhibitors from all over the world meet in Munich for the season opening to present the latest fabric and accessory trends to the fashion industry. With a unique trade fair format that provides sound trade and trend information in a productive working atmosphere com-bined with a personal touch, MUNICH FABRIC START has meanwhile established as an international sourcing platform for designers, product managers and buyers.

ensure the competence and professionalism required by 20,000 trade visitors for a perfect season opening. MUNICH FABRIC START covers the entire area of the Munich Order Center MOC as well as the neighbouring Zenith Hall. Top-class trend events, forums, trade publi-cations as well as star-studded panel discussions offer a substantial information pool to trade visitors.
The early entry in the new fashion season and a com-prehensive range from basic to haute couture collections convince industry professionals from throughout Europe.“Quality instead of quantity” while still staying close to the market is and will be the claim for those in charge at MUNICH FABRIC START.
ASIA SALONIn 2006 the ASIA SALON was formed as a stage for selected manufacturers from the Asian region. In ad-dition to showcasing high-tech systems for outerwear, the collections in Atrium 3 also focus on trend ranges
for lingerie, fashion and sportswear – for both woven and knitted goods. Exhibitors in this section include: Universal Textile, Concordia, Texlife, Everest und Luthai Textile’.
COLLECTIONSThe entire product range of fashion fabrics from basic to haute couture creations for all apparel segments is pre-sented on three exhibition floors. These include woven and knitted fabrics in wool, cotton, silk, silk-look und functional fabrics. Also to be found here are relatively new fibres such as bamboo, polylactic and milk fibres, high-tech coatings and intelligent fabric systems for

In 2003 the BLUEZONE was launched as a unique concept for the textile sector and is seen as the key starting point for all denim fairs. Focused in Hall 5 (Zenith Hall) right next door to the MOC are the fabric and accessories trends for the denim and sportswear segment. Meanwhile, approximately 70 of the world’s leading denim weavers, finishers and washers present the latest developments for denim-, street- and sportswear. To the season S/S 12, BLUEZONE has started into a new era: Under the slogan “Tomorrow is Today” or shortly “TisT”, the future is taken as programme. The centrepiece of this visionary concept
lies in presenting two seasons, the current season but also initial ideas and developments for the next season. By this the sourcing is given a new creative dimension - already today trends are presented that will become more and more important tomorrow. Exhibitors in this section include: Orta Anadolu, ISKO, Europa, ITV, Tejidos Royo, Candiani S.p.A , Bossa, Calik Denim, Denim Authority and Tüsa Group.
Another Creative Dimension! Initiated in September 2012, DESIGN STUDIOS is the concrete response to a growing need for progressive and individual de-sign solutions in the textile industry. The creative plat-form of MUNICH FABRIC START has established as independent exhibition format in the firstFLOOR and opens a new creative dimension to the visitor’s design
process. Textile designers and trend offices from all over the world present their textile designs and latest developments thus offering the sourcing process to be arranged more flexible. Exhibitors in this section include: Anteprima, Gibson Design Studio, Robert Vernet, Lica Design, Bernini, Amsterstampa and Tom Cody Design.
Services beyond fabrics! SHOWROOMS is the con-crete answer to changing demands on the market. In September 2009 MUNICH FABRIC START ex-tended its range to include full-packaging suppli-ers. In the classy surroundings at SHOWROOMS, selected firms present their entire range of services. They are taking over where manufacturers and trad-ing firms leave off in terms of sourcing and production.
SHOWROOMS is just a further proof that MUNICH FABRIC START is right on to the market demands. It maintains its flexibility while remaining a significant service partner for the market. Exhibitors in this seg-ment include: Teijin Frontier, Blustar, Tat Fung, H. D. Isler and Lagoon.

// LOCATION
MOC Foyer
MUNICH FABRIC START is held at a modern trade fair and exhibition centre, the Munich Order Centre (MOC) in the north of Munich. The unique architecture is brightand spacious providing different stand and presentation possibilities. The range of exhibition space spans from white stands and light-flooded atriums to individual studios. This creates a comfortable and productive working atmosphere that is appreciated by both, exhibitors and visitors time and again.
BLUEZONE is located in the Zenith Hall (Hall 5) only a few metres away from the MOC. This old factory build-ing dating from the 20s with the charm of its industrial past creates an inspiring and product-oriented working environment for exhibitors and visitors alike.
The exhibition venue of MUNICH FABRIC START con-sisting of these two locations can easily be reached by car and public transport and offers sufficient parking fa-cilities.

// TESTIMONIALSExhibitor Testimonials at MUNICH FABRIC START in a Nutshell:
Florian Diebel,Hugo Boss :“MUNICH FABRIC START is a modern, innovative trade show where you can work productively in a very pleas-ant setting. Its service and top notch supporting pro-gramme give this show its special edge. A major advan-tage of MUNICH FABRIC START is its location making it possible for every member of our team to come here on a day trip. The line-up of exhibitors is extensive even if by comparison we only visit a small number of suppliers in the clothing segment. We use the trade show to fine tune and finalise the concepts developed for us with suppliers. We observe the trends and the mainstream here and hold talks with agencies.”
Thomas Geiger, Textilagentur Geiger:“MUNICH FABRIC START follows on seamlessly from the medium/high-end ranges already presented at VIEW. New developments pick up on the latest trends and translate these for the further delivery dates of the main collections or second lines of the new season. For our customers MUNICH FABRIC START has also gained importance from season to season. Progres-sively anticipatory season cycles increasingly underline the right timing of MUNICH FABRIC START. Compared with other international fairs this trade show offers our customers shorter distances and lower costs.”
Dirk Jaster, Bogner:“MUNICH FABRIC START follows on seamlessly from the medium/high-end ranges already presented at VIEW. For our customers MUNICH FABRIC START has also gained importance from season to season. Progres-sively anticipatory season cycles increasingly underline the right timing of MUNICH FABRIC START. Hans-Peter Hiemer Business4Brands Consulting: “For our company MUNICH FABRIC START has be-come a key communication platform. Our international business partners use MUNICH FABRIC START togeth-er with us to research the key product trends. MFS is favourably timed for this, especially for fast-developing, innovative brand concepts. We also appreciate the ever successful blend of professional range and relaxed working atmosphere.”
Arianna Morimando, Berto E.G: “The increasing number of fairs dedicated to the denim sector is clear testimony to the particular attention that the fashion business, and not only, is paying towards this sector. As for our German business, BLUEZONE is definitely the most important exhibition. It is the second event in our trade fair schedule, where we go with the new collection. First our customers come to Denim by, but they start placing orders in Munich. This show al-lows us to have the first real and tangible feedback on our work.”
Holger Schmidt, Pierre Cardin:“For Pierre Cardin menswear MUNICH FABRIC START is the most important show as it is currently the first fair where most suppliers showcase not just excerpts or a pre-collection but, for the first time, their whole collec-tion. This applies both to face fabrics and findings. Due to its early date MUNICH FABRIC START has high and constantly rising standing within Europe. As well as its quality exhibitors and early dates, we also particularly appreciate the really great organisation of the trade fair.”
