aesthetics and quality Roval’s roof and façade products are no longer merely functional, but also have an aesthetic value. The profiles are increasingly being used in architectural projects. The Roval-Angle®, Roval-Curve®, Roval-Wave®, Roval-Opaal® and Roval-Kraal®, and also the Roval-Elegance®, Roval-Barok®, Roval-Rococo®, Roval-Toscaan® and the Roval-Primaire®, not only stand out through their quality, but also because they have an elegant appearance.

Roval, which is a part of the internationally operating Reynaers Group, is a leading specialist in aluminium construction products that find their way into residential and utility constructions, both in new constructions and in renovations. The different product lines – that are specifically designed for roofs – include: roof edges, wall coping systems, wall connection profiles, ventilations, gravel fillets, emergency overflow spillways and inserts. For façades: Weather cornices, folded sheet metal, letter boxes, window and door sill covers, glazing profiles, ventilation

systems and finishing profiles. Roval is the market leader in its area of expertise, and offers an extensive product range. In addition to the traditional standard products, Roval also has an wide range of architectural models.

Roval has its own Design and Production departments. The Design department develops both its own products and products to customer specifications. The preparation of drawings, the work planning and the project support are also carried out in close cooperation.

ifd and dubo constructionRoval Aluminium endorses the basic premises and philosophy of IFD (Integrated Functional Design) and Dubo construction, and has excellent solutions available for all the situations that could occur. For Roval, IFD construction means the innova-tive use of industrially developed and manufactured construction components in new buildings, buildings that require renovation and utility buildings. Flexibility and the ability to dismantle the structures make it possible for different users to use the same building for a longer period. In addition, Roval is also convinced that the amount of building and demolition waste is substantially reduced by building according to IFD principles. In this way, building according to IFD principles combines both the environmental and economic requirements in the construction sector. The philosophy behind sustainable construction is that any damage to the environment is limited as much as possible while building, using and

demolishing both new and existing buildings. In the mean- time, a special review committee has accepted Roval Aluminium as an SVE/Viba Expo participant. The SVE (previously known as the Viba Expo Foundation) was founded 25 years ago, and, in the meantime, has expanded into a national knowledge platform in the area of healthy and sustainable construction.

GuaranteedRoval Aluminium guarantees the quality of its façade and roof products, and Roval supplies products that comply with the highest requirements. In order to recognize and guarantee this quality, Roval has obtained a KOMO attestation with Product Certificate No. 10.078. This quality declaration relates to the technical specification, and refers to performance with regard to the relevant aspects that have been assessed, such as durability and resistance to wear and tear. In addition, regulations have been complied with in regard to the manufacturing and installation of the products.

The certificate indicates that the quality has been inspected by an independent third party. The KOMO attestation is recognized by the government, and is appli- cable to aluminium products that have been treated via anodizing (Qualanod) or powder coating (Qualicoat), with the treatment constituting an integral part of the quality declaration. An independent authority, such as SKG, carries out audits on the basis of regular inspections to demonstrate that the manu-factured products comply with the BRL 2701 (National Assess-ment Guideline) according to Art. 1.4 of the Buildings Decree.

The General Terms and Conditions that have been deposited at the Chamber of Commerce in Eind- hoven under number 1508/93 apply to all transactions. Information about Roval can be found in the NBD building docu- mentation, the STABU specifica-tion system, on the construction CD, on www.nbdonline.nl, in the ASD library, on the ‘zoeksnoek’ search engine and on the Internet (www.roval.nl).

anodizinG During the anodizing process, an oxide layer is applied through electrolysis. This takes place according to the VMRG quality requirements and 2007 recommendations, or the applicable Qualanod or GSB regulations, and is mainly applied clear (natural). 20 micron is used as standard, and we recommend 25 micron for industrial areas, or areas by the sea.

A limited number of colours is also possible. In this case, it must be taken into account that some colour differences could occur during the aluminium anodizing process.

enamellinG Aluminium enamelling is carried out on the basis of powder coating, in accordance with the VMRG quality requirements and the 2007 recommendations, or with the applicable Qualicoat or GSB regulations. The aluminium passes through the degreasing, pickling and chromating pre-treatments.

The required enamel layer thickness depends on the conditions where the application will take place. 60 micron is used as standard. We recommend a pre-anodizing application for industrial areas near the sea. Enamelling can be carried out in practically any colour. RAL colours are preferred, however, due to the advantageous prices and short delivery times. A wide range of enamelled roof edges can be delivered from stock.

aluminium In order to avoid corrosion of the aluminium, direct contact with copper, lead, zinc, steel, etc. must be prevented.

The expansion coefficient of aluminium is 28.8 x 10-6/°C, which means a linear expansion of ± 1 mm per metre of profile over a temperature difference of 50°C. When fitting to the exterior of a building, a clearance of at least 3 mm must therefore be taken into account per side in order to accommodate a large

linear expansion as a result of the influence of the sun or the colour of the aluminium.

Aluminium profiles must be stored in a dry area and must be supported in order to avoid undesired deformations and/or external imperfections.

This brochure cannot provide you with a complete overview of the many possibilities and technical aspects that Roval Aluminium is able to offer. Our internal and external staff will be happy to advise and assist you if you require further information.

The Roval-Solotrim® is a patented, single-roof trim fitted with a specially-developed EPDM sealing tape. The roof trim is fitted directly onto the finished roof covering using stainless steel screws and stainless steel

neoprene sealing rings. Suitable for both bituminous and synthetic roof covering. The roof trim is clamped onto the finished roof.

The Solotrim® has pre-drilled holes (Ø 6 mm) in the tail-piece of the trim, 50 mm from the ends and spaced at distances of 300 mm. The cover click-coupling is made

in a special UV-resistant quality and seals the expansion joints between the individual roof trims. The joint at the front of the Solotrim® is linked with an aluminium

connecting plate with a thickness of 2.0 mm. This plate has a width of 40 mm. The Solotrim® slides into a recess with a bevelled edge in this plate.

The purpose of the bevelled edge is to provide a mounting stop. Its dimensions allow the absorption of any expansion due to changes in temperature (1 mm/m1).

Installation instructions for Solotrim®

1. In principle, start with a welded 500 x 500 mm corner piece (A), followed by the full lengths. The profiles are fitted with pre-drilled screw holes and EPDM sealing tape.

2. Adjacent profiles are connected via an aluminium connecting plate at the front. This plate has a width of 40 mm; the Solotrim® slides into a recess with a bevelled edge in this plate.

The aluminium connection plate has an integrated spacer, which automatically ensures the required expansion joint distance of 4 mm (C) during the assembly.

3. Align the Solotrim® and screw into the wooden wall plate with stainless

steel/neoprene sealing rings (D).

4. Cover the top of the expansion joint with a synthetic cover-

click-coupling (E).
