The following pages can be used to create a variety of sorting activities for your students. The difficulty of the images varies and can be selected to best fit your students’ needs. Students may also find additional/different shapes in some of the images. Common Core Alignment: Kindergarten: Geometry Cluster: Identify and describe shapes (squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, hexagons, cubes, cones, cylinders, and spheres). 1. Describe objects in the environment using names of shapes, and describe the relative positions of these objects using terms such as above, below, beside, in front of, behind, and next to. 2. Correctly name shapes regardless of their orientations or overall size. 3. Identify shapes as two-dimensional (lying in a plane, “flat”) or three-dimensional (“solid”). Page 3 features four cards to be used as headers for sorting. Pages 4-5 – Circles Pages 6-7 – Triangles Pages 8-9 – Hexagons Pages 10-11 – Rectangles Pages 12-14 – Squares
