• Slander has an interesting origin. It comes from the word “Devil.” According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, slander means “malicious talk; to spread damaging information; to defame; to speak ill of.”

• “Gossip” is derived from the idea of “whispering.” According to the same dictionary, “gossip” means “To indulge in idle talk or rumors about others; spreading of sensational stories.”

• “There are always people eager to falsely accuse a man of God. They may do so because they resent his calling, reject his teaching, resist biblical authority, resent virtue, or are jealous of the Lord’s blessing on his life.

they demonstrate by making such accusations that they have become messengers of Satan. Such false accusations are one of his most dangerous weapons.

• Joseph, Moses, David, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, and our Lord Jesus Christ all suffered from false accusations. To attack someone in a position of authority is a very serious matter.

One pastor was accused of being in the Mafia because he had a dear Italian friend.

A Missionary was accused on the internet of stealing mission money. Even after accountants demonstrated beyond all doubt that he had not stolen one penny, the slanders never apologized or asked for forgiveness.

was slandered by a woman in his church. She claimed that he “undressed her with his eyes,” while he was preaching in the pulpit.

One male slander has spent every waking moment for fifteen years

slandering a Christian leader.

a pastor’s wife and son of stealing ministry money. He argued that it was theft for the church to pay their car insurance! In this particular case, they happened to pay their own car insurance.

One pastor was told by those that were slandering him; that they would meet with him under one condition; he was not allowed to bring his Bible with him or refer to it at any point.

• The Greek word is "paradechomai" and it is variously translated accept, receive, welcome, adopt, recognize, allow, permit, acknowledge

• The Greek word for charge is "kategoria and it is translated charge, and accusation.

• 10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: The salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Messiah have now come, because the accuser of our brothers has been thrown out: the one who accuses them before our God day and night.

• Satan slandered God by accusing Him of evil motives and lying to man. Eve first fell into sin by listening to these slanders and receiving them as true

The root causes of the fall of man into sin and guilt was slander and gossip.

Satan’s started in heaven as a the father of lies. He slandered and gossip to the angles about God, so when he was kicked out of heaven; he continued

with what he started in heaven on earth.
