false, multiple choice, tick or
cross, cloze/gap-filling and
completing a table/diagram, etc.
General reading skills will be
tested, including identifying main
idea, specific information,
metaphor meaning, dictionary
meaning, antonyms, grammatical
and lexical meaning, making
inferences, etc.
Tips of tackling the reading
comprehension questions:
1) When students are asked to
find answers from different
parts of a text, do not make
reference to the same point
more than once.
2) Do not copy a chunk if text
at random without truly
understanding what you
have read.
3) For cloze/gap filling tasks,
pay special attention to the
accuracy in spelling and
grammar as the cloze itself
serves as a reading
comprehension text.

The second task will be longer and

letter, debate speech and article.

1) Get a clear idea of where the
focus of the question lies.
