History of Human Population Growth• 500,000 BCE -10,000 BCE Humans were

nomads & hunter/gatherers– Roamed around, followed herds, gathered fruit

growing naturally– No farms

• Agricultural revolution: Humans start farming

– Life was safer– People survived– Population went up

• 10,000 BCE there were 2 million people

Population explosion

• 1650 CE there is a sharp decline in death rates– Sanitation– More food availabe– Disease controlled

• Birth rates stayed high

• After WWII technological improvements led more population increase
