Target Audience This course is primarily designed for Physician Assistants (PA) who are preparing for the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) recertification process. Other Health Care Providers will be issued a course certificate of training, which can be submitted to their respective Governing Agency for Continuous Education to receive CME credit.

Program Overview The resident Physician Assistants Symposium is held annually at Joint Base-San Antonio, Texas. In an effort to reach more PAs and provide CME opportunities to a greater audience, the symposium presentations are video recorded and then made available through the Physician Assistant’s Readiness Satellite Broadcast. The wide range of topics presented will cover primary care medicine and is modeled on the NCCPA exam template.

Program Objectives To present and review a wide array of topics covering diseases, disorders, and medical assessments encountered in primary care settings and provide current guidelines for appropriate diagnosis, treatment and referral using Distance Learning technologies.

CME Credits Participants will be issued a course completion certificate indicating the total number of CME credits awarded. A total of 30 clinical Category I CME hours are available to be awardedby the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). The number of clinical Category I CME hours, awarded by the AAPA, by presentation, is identified in the program agenda (available online and as Appendix B). PA’s and providers should only claim those hours actually spent participating in the CME activity. This CME may only be claimed on the actual days of broadcast as no current mechanism is in place to claim CME for material viewed at a later date. Other providers may claim CME, if eligible under either of the above categories.

The site facilitator is responsible for verifying the number of credits claimed by signing/initialing the Participant Log-in Sheet.

NOTE: In order to receive CME, each participant must register on-line at:

http://www.cs.amedd.army.mil/pasatcast.aspx

Anyone who fails to register will not receive CME credit from AAPA. Certificates will be emailed ONLY to the site facilitator, and for participants that have completed the online individual registration and the REQUIRED Course Critique Sheet.
