PRESIDENT’S REPORT
2011 was again a very successful year at the junior Tigers. We had a record number of
registrations which really is a great sign of a well-run football club with excellent
volunteers who work together to make junior sport enjoyable for all our participants.
We also had a very successful year on the field. All teams made finals for the second year
in succession with again one of those teams, under 16 Division 2, winning a premiership.
It was great to see some of the boys I coached many years ago have the ultimate success
in the grand final. These boys stuck with the game following a very difficult year in 2008
where the margins were regularly over 100 against us. Their mates in the under 16 St
Eddies Tigers team also, many of whom played in those 2008 games, went through the
year undefeated until the grand final.
I would again like to thank, the St Edmunds and Goulburn Clubs for so generously
allowing us to amalgamate teams so that all players can get a game at the appropriate
standard of football. I am hoping that these relationships can continue to flourish over the
coming seasons for benefit of football in the Canberra region.
It was a great credit to the club that we again participated in the red shield appeal. Once
again many of our parents and kids took to the streets and raised plenty of funds for this
great cause. The club again beat its record fund raising of last year and were the most
successful of the sporting clubs raising money.
We not only had a successful year raising money for others we also again managed to
generate a load of income for the club. At last count we had raised over $80 000 through
the course of the year which is an enormous amount from our committed volunteers. Each
little bit of help ensures that we can keep costs at a minimum and make the Tigers
experience enjoyable. On this front I would like to again than Di McGinley and the
Rootseys for helping manage and staff the canteen when we can‟t find enough volunteers.
A big thank you this year goes to Jenny Phelan who manned the coffee machine each
Tigers home game which turned out to be a great money spinner.
Each club needs its own „super glue‟ that holds everything together and makes it work.
We are blessed to have „Pav‟ as our administrator, mentor and confessor. The success of
our club can in large part be reflected in the efforts of young Adrian who has managed to
replace the irreplaceable Jordan Longmore. It was a great thrill for me to see super coach
Pavese achieve his third successive premiership with the Tigers Reserves. It couldn‟t
happen to a nicer bloke.
Hopefully one day many of our current juniors can have this sort of success in the future.
See you at the footy soon.
Go Tiges!

ADMINISTRATION MANAGER’S REPORT
2011 a Record Year!
How great is this Junior Footy Club!
Following a highly successful 2010 you could have been forgiven to think that the club
couldn‟t get any better, however it has happened.
For the 2nd
consecutive season the Junior Tigers recorded a record with 239 players
registering in 2011 (21 up from the previous 2010 record of 218) from Auskick to U16s.
There are so many people who contribute to the Junior Tigers and we thank you all for
your efforts in 2011. To all of our valued sponsors your support is greatly appreciated and
we couldn‟t achieve these results without your support.
To the entire playing group, coaching staff, managers, support staff and parents you all
should be very proud of your efforts in contributing to this record-breaking season. The
quality of players, support staff and parents involved in the Tigers this season was second
to none.
There were many highlights in 2011:

In the 3rd year of the combined St Edmunds Tigers 16 Div 1 saw the team claim the
Minor Premiership and reach the Grand Final for the 2nd
year in a row. The MOU is
working extremely well and the Junior tigers will be doing everything in its power to keep
the agreement alive.
A big thank you to Peter Bowyer, Jason Moore and entire St Edmunds Committee for
your support and effort with the team in 2011 it was greatly appreciated. To Bryan and
Michelle Neal thanks for your efforts with the Under 16 team this year and we all
appreciated your commitment to the MOU in 2011.
For the 2nd
Year in a row, a Premiership was achieved with the support of our great
friends the Goulburn Swans. Following the success of the QBN/Goulburn Tigers U12s in
2010 our two clubs joined forces again in 2011, this time in the U16s Div 2 grade with the
team winning the Premiership.
To all the U16s Goulburn players, parents and Goulburn Swans Committee thank you for
your support and commitment in 2011. Our association with the Goulburn Swans is very
important to Queanbeyan and our relationship is stronger than ever. We look forward to
continuing our relationship in 2012.
Again to all of our Sponsors in 2011 a very big thank you for your continued support of
the Junior Tigers and I am sure everyone appreciates the contribution your company has
made to our organization. We couldn‟t function without your help and we certainly hope
you all join us again in 2012.
I would like to thank the entire junior committee for your help and support in 2011. Again
we have been able to achieve so much this season and have put a lot of resources and
equipment back into our juniors in 2011.
The following initiatives have been provided to improve our club/players in 2011 and
beyond:
7 Junior Coaches put through Level 1 Accreditation.
We sent 2 players to the Western Bulldogs Academy.
Bungendore PS Bus Subsidy – James Hird Cup Day.
Donations to our Schools P&C.
Donations to Local Charity Events.
Donations to Representative Players.
New Marquee for Junior Events and Merchandise.
Contribution to New Scoreboard – Dairy Farmers Park.
Sponsorship of the Snowy Super cats MOU.
2011 Player Registration Subsidy (137 x $15).
All of the above has been supplied over and beyond our normal working budget to the
value of $12,270.
This is a direct result of Fundraising, sponsorship and Donations which is a credit to
everyone involved and truly shows that the Queanbeyan Tigers put back into our Junior
Players, Football Club and the community.
Our Auskick programs were again very successful in 2011. We ran two programs with a
big thankyou to Darcy and Mandy Ryan for their time and commitment that ensured the
program‟s success.
For the first time this year the club held a Youth Development Program during the Term 3
School Holidays. Over 35 tiger players from our U11s to U14s were put through two days
of intense skill sessions and life education. The success of this program in its first year
will see the program run again in 2012.
To be able to continue the Junior Club‟s excellent growth over the past two years is going
to be a big challenge and I can guarantee you all that new ideas and hard work has begun
already.
Again to the whole playing group, sponsors, volunteers and parents it has been a fantastic
year and I looking forward to 2012.
To my hard working and very committed Junior Committee and Sponsors, thanks for your
support and guidance in 2011, so much of the success this club is having at present
directly relates to your efforts.
Please have a safe and enjoyable summer break, get registered for 2012 and I will see you
all next year.
“EAT EM‟ ALIVE”
Cheers Pav

Auskick Pro Under 8’s Team Report
A new crop of young tigers pulled on the yellow and black jumper
for the first time with a number of last year‟s 8‟s eligible to play
again this year. We were fortunate to field three sides due to the
fantastic enrolment of 35 registered boys for the start of the
season. The experienced players provided knowledge and
guidance, allowing the new players to quickly pick up the skills
needed to play in a team environment.
The commitment of the majority of players to attend training and
game day regularly, allowed us to work on basic skills and also
game specific skills. This was particularly pleasing on game day to
see players having fun and enjoying their time together as a team.
A strong emphasis was made about playing as a team and sharing
the ball between our team mates, which encouraged a broad range
of skills including handball, kicking, marking, running and calling
for the ball. The improvement of all players over the season and
the enthusiasm shown was great to see.
I would like to thank all the parents who helped out throughout the
season at training and on game day. With such a large number of
players it made things run a lot more smoothly. Finally, I would
like to thank our assistant coach Mark Armstrong, and our team
managers Kelly Armstrong and Sil Gilbert for their help and
support throughout the season.
Hope to see you all again next year!

Auskick Pro Under 9’s Team Report
The Frank Palombi sponsored Queanbeyan Tigers Under 9‟s side commenced 2011 with
21 registered players including a number of first time players. Despite a few lads never
having played before and the remainder of the team still learning and developing, the skill
level and passion for AFL was quickly evident. Training and match days were tailored to
emphasize team work and the basic skills required to grow as a player and as a team. In
this regard the players gave their all and the coaches and parents can be very proud of the
season from their lads.
As the season unfolded the style of play evolved into a more structured and flowing game.
Using more handball and looking to deliver the ball with precision to teammates rather
than blasting away meant that players were more involved, the workload was shared and
matches were very enjoyable to watch.
The team itself has started to take some shape with a group of tough defenders, a talented
and highly skilled mid field, a number of taller style players who can play key positions
and a number of versatile, utility type players. Whilst it is very early in their football path
there does appear to be plenty of talent on hand for the Tigers (maybe GWS) for the
future.
The team had a number of on-ballers with Leo Palombi, Lachlan Silsby, Samuel Frost,
Stephan Ficovic, Nick Pfeiffer and Jordan McGrath all high possession winners. Their
silky skills and hardness at the footy ensured that the ball was won in the middle on most
occasions. In George Ogden, Keegan Rumble, Henry Burge, Darcy Burge and Luke
Hush we had size and presence around the ruck and key positions. These guys worked
across each zone to tap the ball to the rovers and also to take on the key players from the
opposition.
We were also very fortunate to have a number of really talented small forwards and goal
sneaks who kicked a stack of goals and made life hard for their opponents. Luke Nazor,
Jack Foster, Huon Shin-Rees, Rory Gibbs and Patrick McGrath all showed touches of
class during the year and caused headaches for opposing teams.
Our key defenders, who could also swing to the forward line with great effect, were Riley
Thompson, Gerry Dwyer, Leo Tuckfield, Austin Lloyd and Josh Ryder. They worked
tirelessly in defence but were equally at home in the forwards with their strong marking
and accurate kicking skills.
Overall the team was a really good mix of very talented lads. I would also mention that
the behaviour of the players was outstanding during the course of the season. In general
they listened, took advice and improved dramatically throughout the course of the year.
The team would also like to pass on their thanks to Adrian Pavese, the committee and
Queanbeyan Tigers Club for providing the opportunity and environment for these lads to
play football and develop as young men. Also thanks to Lyndall Frost for washing the
jumpers after every match.
Looking forward to 2012!

QUEANBEYAN TIGERS U10 TEAM REPORT
As the year started out the excitement around the group was great. All the boys
and girls were itching to get onto the field and play footy. We had a good start
to the season with the boys and girls playing well as a team and working as
hard as they could. Training was a success every week because we had great
numbers coming and the kids were able to develop their footy skills and team
work.
We had such a good turn out this year we managed to put two teams into the
competition, the kids worked well and made training with 25 players easy. The
Black team had some really strong and competitive players this year and it was
good to see the first year players enjoying the experience provided by the likes
of Jack Nisbett, Brad Pender and the Sergi Boys. The likes of Harrison Miller
and Hugh Clark have both shown their amazing skills in the back line. Also I
was very proud of the effort put in by Cara Frost, Spencer Hoadley and
Rhiannon Lennon-Barnes who were shining lights in our side most weeks.
Although I didn‟t get any time with the Gold team on Saturdays I have heard
that players like the Flanagan Brothers and Dean Shea were workmen like in
getting the ball and sharing it around with their team mates Dan Bogue and
Sean Michalak.. I have had great reports about Amy Dwyer and Shamia
McKenna going hard at the ball week in week out.
Lastly I would like to thank everyone who has helped with all the kids both at
trainings and on Saturdays, and a massive thank you to Jamey Bellicanta and
Merran Anderson for helping manage both our teams. Also a big thank you to
Colin McKenna for coaching the gold team on a Saturday.
Finally I hope to see you all back in the yellow and black next year.

QUEANBEYAN TIGERS U11 TEAM REPORT The season started with our “veteran” players welcoming several new boys into our
team. In true Tiger spirit they were made to feel welcome and a part of the team from
their very first training session. We enjoyed several training sessions before we
played our first game of the season which was a good way to brush off the cob-webs
from a long summers break. From that very first training session it was obvious the
boys could not wait to get back onto the playing field and participate in matches.
The boys were set the goals at the start of the season to play to the best of their own
ability, use training and matches to consistently improve their footy skills and to
make sure they enjoyed playing football with the Tigers.
If they achieved these three objectives then their team game would also improve
throughout the season. Despite a few early games not quite going to plan the boys
rose to the challenge and by mid-season they were playing a fast, skilled brand of
footy. This resulted in some very strong team performances against a variety of the
Canberra teams and showed the pride the boys have in the Tigers jumper.
Over the course of the season we made sure each boy had an equal share of time on
the ground and time on the sidelines so they could receive match day coaching as
interchange players from the coach. We also made sure the boys were rotated
through the different positions on the ground to give them experience in the different
roles throughout the season. In part this was also to introduce the boys to more
formal team structures in preparation for competition and finals football next year as
they move up the Under 12 competition format.
We also experienced all types of weather conditions during the season and on one
particularly wet weekend the boys demonstrated their great wet-weather skills and
determination to grind out a great team performance in very difficult conditions.
The team was great to watch develop as the season progressed and they became more
adventurous with their game plans and disposal options as the season progressed. By
the end of the season the team-style of play they were displaying was exactly what the
coach had asked for and the parents were certainly enjoying it as spectators too.
In all it was a very enjoyable and exciting season by the 2011 Under 11 Tigers and
makes for a promising outlook for this team next year as they progress to the Under
12s. Each and every team member made their own contribution to the team, both on
and off the field as valued team members. They are a terrific group of boys and did
the Tigers proud in 2011. Well done to them all.
A special thank you must go to David Hunter as coach for the season and also to
Mark McNamara who umpired many games for us throughout the season. Also, to
every parent that helped out in different ways throughout the season a big thankyou
too as the team could not play each week without your help and support. The end
result of all your help is a season of great footy for our boys to reflect on as a team.

Under

11’s
QUEANBEYAN TIGERS UNDER 12Div 1 TEAM REPORT 2011 would be a season of expectation and of mystery for he Under 12s Div 1s. The
majority of these boys have been playing together since they were 5 years of age and
were entering into the world of competition footy for the first time. Many of these
boys were returning after a very successful season in the Under 11s with one goal in
mind-to make the finals.
Training was well attended this season, with terrific numbers presents for each and
every session. The skills of the boys improved strongly over the course of the year as
a result of this attendance with many challenging drills implemented.
On the ground, the boys opened the season with four straight victories before
suffering a loss to the strong Eastlake team. This only spurred the boys on however,
as the team would go on to win enough games to finish third and achieve their finals
goal.
In the finals, the young Tigers would play a closely fought knock-out final against
Gungahlin, winning in the dying minutes by 5 points. This was repeated a week later
against Ainslie where the boys again came from behind to win a place in the Grand
Final by 7 points. Although giving a credible display in the Grand Final the boys were
beaten by Eastlake.
Many outstanding performances were recorded this season with Reed Stevens,
Lachlan Squire, Christian Palombi all having consistent year. Each player along with
Tyler Van Luin, Will Taylor, Dominic Hawksworth and Matthew McKenzie all
showing their value to the fortunes of the team each week. Strong and noticeable
improvements were also important from Aiden McShane, Harrison Staker, Noah
Wright and Josiah Hall who have all taken the next step in being future contributors
to this club at senior level. All of this effort was further complemented by the addition
of newcomers Ben Frogley, Zane Marolt, Trent Britton, Chris Chacos, Darcy
Anderson along with Kaleb Hill-Rogerson and Luke Donaldson who all slotted into
the team contributed each week. The team was also complemented by steady
performers Connor Hogan, Jayson Corbett, Enrique Arquero and Jordy Perkins while
the positional flexibility shown by Josh Dunn, Jarod Patterson and Jim Kretschmer
added bite to the team‟s structure.
Success on the field however does not happen without a strong support team off field.
Huge thanks and gratitude goes to Lynne McKenzie whose management of the team
allowed everything to run like clockwork. Thank you also to George Stevens and
Steve West for their assistance in coaching the team. To Ruben and Jo Arquero, and
Scott Hall for their contributions on game days and to Paul Wright and Jeff Squire
for their umpiring. Also a further thank you to Tiger senior players Dennis, Kav and
Steve Joliffe for their involvement. Finally, a large thankyou to all the parents for
their help, understanding and overall involvement.

50 Games
Under 12 Div 1
QUEANBEYAN UNDER 14 DIV 2 TEAM REPORT 2011 saw 26 registered players for the Tigers under 14‟s. With half the squad moving up from
under 12‟s, there was some depth for the coaches to work with. We started pre-season in early
March with fitness training and basic skills being the emphasis. The boys all seemed to gel
and work well together.
The pre-season practice match against Weston Creek gave a good win for the boys and a great
insight for the coaches for the year ahead.
The leadership group was chosen by the coaches. This introduced co-captains Mitch O‟Toole
and Jayden Ludwig and vice-captain Arthur McPhee.
The season proper started where the game plan and team structure was introduced. The team
worked hard on a strong running game and the one percenters (shepherding, tackling and
talking). Unfortunately the round saw the first major injury for the team which would rub out
Thomas Christou for the season. However, Thomas continued to support the team by being a
regular on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.
With the boys playing good football as a team, which for the majority of the time was a
pleasure to watch, we went through the regular season undefeated and with the minor
premiership in hand, it was time to bring on the finals.
The major saw the boys up against the reigning premiers – the Belconnen Magpies. The
match was a very hard fought and bruising contest. Unfortunately the team suffered their first
loss but bounced back in the Preliminary final to beat Marist quite convincingly.
Come Grand Final day and the team was ready to play. The game was rather even in the first
half only a couple of goals down going into the third. But the bigger opposition took its toll in
the next 20 and the opposition drew away. The team made a pact to win the last quarter for
the jumper, the team, the supporters and the great tiger spirit. The boys did that and even
though the scoreboard reflected the loss, the team did their best and walked off the ground
with their heads held high.
Congratulations to all the boys who achieved personal milestones through the season,
especially Kris Cole on the 100 club games. To Mitch O‟Toole for coming runner-up in the
ACT AFL under 14‟s Div 2 best and fairest. To Angus Hoadley for winning the Gary
Matherson trophy and to all the trophy winners on presentation day. WELL DONE.
To run a junior football team takes a lot of work. I would firstly like to thank Stuart Green.
His knowledge on fitness and the game in general is of a high standard. In pre-season, his
fitness training on the team showed right to the very end of the competition where it was really
needed. The two team managers, Jayne Cole and Tanya O‟Toole – a huge gratitude – without
their outstanding efforts very week there would be no games played. Cookie, our first aider
came every week to help the boys whenever needed. Our team runner, Brian Daniher and our
boundary umpire. We could not have done it without you. To all the parents who helped with
goal umpiring and running water and to the best supporters all season – THANK YOU.
Without the support of our sponsors Craig and Ella Stevens from Bungendore Coaches we
wouldn‟t be a team.
Lastly to all the boys for all the effort you put on all season. Well done. Continue to work
hard and practice in the off season, ready to go one step further and achieve the ultimate goal.
Stay Safe and I look forward to catching up with you all in some capacity next season.

QUEANBEYAN TIGERS
UNDER 16Div 2 TEAM REPORT
2011 was always going to be a year of
surprises for the 16‟s division 2 side. Two coaches, Nathan Power
and Jason Wilcock, after being under the tutelage of Bryan “Super Coach Scratcher”
Neal in 2010, ventured out by themselves to take the helm of a side that was made up
of half Queanbeyan Tigers and half Goulburn Swans players. We had a few boys
move up to Division 1 from last year and a few come to us from the under 14‟s. The
challenge was ahead for all of us.
We kicked the year off with a road trip to Jindabyne and it was the first time
we met the Goulburn boys. Unfortunately, the game was a forfeit and we played a
scratch match (in which we won by 180 points). Two close consecutive losses after
that to some top teams and the coaching staff were scratching their heads wondering
where our first win was going to come from. Round 4 and another road trip, this time
to Goulburn, and we won a hard fought game against Marist. This was the catalyst in
which really kick started our season proper. It was no coincidence that some of the
boys really stepped up a level in their footy and we starting winning. Tristan
Kilpatrick found a home in the center, Brad Murphy ruled the half back and Brandon
Williams kicked multiple goals at Full forward. Dan Edwards had a ripper start to the
year as did Aaron Palazzo and Ethan Pryce who all bobbed up kicking goals for us.
Simon Anable also gave us a needed tall option forward.
While we started to have some positives, there were some negatives as well.
We lost Zach Douch for the season with a shoulder injury; Dan Peryman injured his
knee pretending to try out for the Wallabies (also gone for the year) and Andrew
Howship with a hand injury. Big wins followed the Marist game. We disposed of St.
Edmunds White by 100, Gungahlin by 80 and Eastlake by 57. The boys were flying
high. Consistent performers were the dangerous Sam Adams, Alex Page, Shaun
Franks, Jeramey Edwards and Matt Rath. We did however; pick up some new players
along the way. Josh Swan and Tom Hewett joined us from Goulburn and Dan
Rouland in his first year of football.
Our biggest test for the season was up against the undefeated Belconnen on
their home ground. Unfortunately, it was right in the middle of flu season and we
ended up with one on the bench and about 4 – 5 players playing sick. We pushed
them all the way but they came out winners by 8 points. Things again started to look
up as we defeated Ainslie by 30, Marist by 41 and St. Edmunds Blue by 120 just
before the 2 week school holiday break. Our backline has been magnificent all year
led by Gavin Ross and Francis Burns. Maurice “Mo Town” Crehan, Gerard Doolan
and Jarrod Callanan have been solid with the football, rebounding from the back 50.
A small hiccup with a 3 point loss to Tuggeranong woke us up and was possibly the
“loss we had to have”. Last regular season game of the year, we bustled back out to Goulburn and came away with a handy win and Second spot on the ladder.
The first semi-final against the mighty Magpies had us out for revenge. It was
the best 4 quarter performance we had seen all year. Josh Quinlan, Djahni Fowler and
Brad Stein all dominated as we kicked away from Belconnen by half time. We made
Dan Osarek the captain for the day and did he perform? You bet. He showed a
magnificent display of how to get the hard ball as we ran away winners by 71 points.
Unfortunately, Nathan had a prior appointment overseas so Jason had to take
the reins for the grand final. Some of the players had the sting of grand final defeat
from last year and were determined not to have that happen again. In a ruthless
display, the boys destroyed St. Edmunds Blue by 41 points and took home the flag.
The year could not have been as successful as it has been without the great
work of our volunteers in Roger Palazzo, Vicki Rath, Tony Anable and John Crehan.
Special mentions go to our runner Marc Murphy, for being able to understand and
deliver Nathan and Jason‟s sometimes frustrated messages and to our Manager Sam
Franks. Sam would always have everything under control (even the coaches!) and it‟s
a credit to have people like her volunteering her time for the club. Thanks Sam for a
wonderful year. Last but not least, thanks to Pav for going into bat for us, mentoring
us and just being an all-round legend.
TEAM WORK, TALK, DISCIPLINE AND EFFORT = PREMIERS 2011!

ST EDMUNDS TIGERS UNDER
16 DIV 1 TEAM REPORT
Someone recently said that success in footy is measured on how much silverware you
bring home. If this is the case, our season was not a success. However, when you take
a look at our team performances over the entire season, I would argue that bringing
the silverware home is not a true reflection on overall success, merely a reward for
one very good game when it counted.
Our talented group of 25 boys went through the entire season undefeated, finishing on
top of the ladder 3 games clear of our nearest rival. Our winning streak continued
through to the Grand Final where we faced a rough and ready Ainslie FC.
Unfortunately, after fighting so hard to overcome a 5 goal deficit at the long break,
our boys were to fall short by 7 points in bringing home the silverware.
As hard as it is for all the players and supporters to feel a sense of failure with the
Grand final result, I can assure everyone that both coaches, albeit disappointed by the
loss believe that our players did themselves, their parents and the club proud and that
our season was a tremendous success.
When making one team from two separate clubs, I expected that our season start
would be somewhat hampered and slow in finding momentum giving that the players
needed to get to know each other, while the coaches needed time to sort out playing
positions. Whilst we faced some early dilemmas, credit must go to the entire playing
group in their approach to ensuring that such obstacles would not hinder their
performances. Within no time, the team were playing as if they had played several
seasons with each other.
Irrelevant of the Grand Final result, I believe that I speak for all who watched the
boys throughout the season in saying that their performances, both from an individual
and a team perspective, were of a very high standard. Every player should be proud of
their achievements. I sincerely hope that you all aspire to play AFL footy for years to
come.
Finally, a big “thank you” to the people who assisted me throughout the year.
Co-Coach Jason - Your knowledge, people skills and passion for the game played a
major role in the development of the team.
Shellie - once again you proved to be the best Team manager I could ask for. Thank
you so much. xxx
Col McKenna - Your ability to relay instructions word for word was incredible (lol).
Again, many thanks for fulfilling the very important role of “Team Runner”.
To Murray, the best flag waver in the business, Marie (Hooter girl) and Peter Bowyer
who ran the boundary on many occasions. Thank you all.
