Dear Parents,
Welcome back after the holidays!
May the wonderful golden, yellow, red and rust of
the autumn leaves shine like bright lights in our
hearts. May every child look forward to going to
school every day, as we are the school where
children get the opportunity to reach
their own potential.
Kind regards,

We enjoy Aftercare. In an era where parents are often very
worried about the amount of screen time their
children are exposed to, we are grateful to see
how the children love to play in Aftercare.
Even on a cold, rainy day they don’t yearn
for a video. No, they play like never before and
the younger and older children enjoy it in equal
quantities.
Thank you to the staff for creating a “home-
from-home” for our kids.

Grade R & 1 Outing In the words of Ben Strydom Grade 1, “We
need to explore to learn new things and to learn
to be brave.”
To end off a very productive and exciting
Term 1, we put our brave faces on and went
exploring. We travelled a "100 000 km"
according to Reuben van Dyk and we eventually
arrived at Giraffe House.... Some were a bit
concerned that the giraffe didn't have a proper
tall house where we could join him for tea.
But... explore we did, we met many
different animals, fed some, petted some and
had our own private "Get to know the animal
show". We were brave, polite and so well
behaved that two people stopped to ask which
school we had come from.
Thank you to teachers Marlise and
Monique who organised all of this.

Nessy The eager little green monster should
actually be part of our teaching staff, as he
helps all our children with all aspects of
reading and writing.
We request parents to encourage their
children to log in over weekends and during
holidays, and thus sharpen their skills.

Poem by Daniel Brink, Grade 5E
The Eagle There once was a smart eagle
who every day saw his friend Reagle.
Then he saw a smart dolphin.
Who had a spikey long fin!
He challenged the animals to a quiz,
and won with help of Mr Bee Bizz.
He soared along his kingdom
and the Orange River even when it’s din
He caught a big catfish,
to be his tasty dish.
It is easy to say, “No matter the weather…”
He will be king of all with a feather!
Fingers hard at work!

Welcome at Vergezicht
ROLANDA BOUWER GRADE 4E
I grew up and went to school in Pretoria. After I
have completed my B.Ed and B.Ed. (Hons) at the
University of Pretoria, I accepted a teaching position
at Moot Christian Academy, where I taught
Computer Studies and Art. I then worked as a
lecturer at the University of Pretoria.
In 2017 I moved to the Cape. I have a passion for
children and it is wonderful to see my learners grow
and develop. My favourite quote is from Disney:
“Dream, believe, achieve.” I use it to inspire my
learners.
Exchange student visits us. Vergezicht staff and learners were very excited to
welcome exchange student Anna Schmitz to spend some
time with us. Anna lives in a small village near Cologne and
she is the second oldest of four children. She is com-
pleting her community service before returning to
Germany to begin studying to become a teacher.
She will be visiting us until the 28 April and will be
spending time in different classes in order to experience
all aspects of teaching and our special Vergezicht magic.
We hope she enjoys her stay with us as much as we enjoy
having her here.
LOUISE REYNEKE GRADE 5(E)
Vergezicht creates an opportunity for every
child to succeed in his or her own way.
Therefore I am privileged to join this
extraordinary team of teachers and learners.
I see my move to Vergezicht as an
opportunity not only continuing my teaching
career, but also to live my dream of being a
teacher who not only teach, but one who inspire
hope, ignite the imagination, and instil a love
of learning.
I’m very much looking forward to my journey
at Vergezicht.
Ich liebe
Vergezicht!

"Grandpa dropped his glasses" The Grade 3 E learners made glasses to go with the poem "Grandpa dropped his glasses", which was
discussed in class.
Nicholas Geldenhuys, Zion Crafford, James Almond, Slade Duncon, Griffen Guy, Isabella Snyman, Zandré
August.
Grandpa dropped his glasses
In a pot of dye,
And when he put them on again
He saw a purple sky.
Purple birds were rising up
From a purple hill
Men were grinding purple cider
At a purple mill.
Purple Adeline was playing
With a purple doll,
Little purple dragonflies
Were crawling up the wall.
And at the supper table
He got crazy as a loon
From eating purple apple
dumplings
With a purple spoon.
