A frequent complaintfrom teachers is the difficulty in findingsuitable reading materials at this level.A la carte will fill this gap and make reading a pleasure in your school. A lacarte comprises a strong plastic box containing fifty different A4, double-sided,laminated reading cards. There are threecopies of each card with text and activi-ties on one side, and vocabulary supportand extension activities on the other side.Also in each box are brief notes for theteacher as well as record cards andanswer cards.

A la carte 1 is designed for beginners.Both boxes will provide your pupils withenjoyable reading material which will

complement and extend the materials inall main course books. The cards pro-vide a variety of motivating reading textswhich your students can access indepen-dently. A la carte can be used in a widevariety of ways and is ideal for indepen-dent silent reading, students working inpairs or threes, or fast finishers. Pupilscan check their own work using theanswer cards. On many of the cards, oneof the extension activities is to seek fur-ther follow-up information from a websiteAs well as being differentiated by level,many of the extension activities on thereverse of each card are ideal for stretching more able pupils. A la carte isnot linked with any particular Frenchcourse, and will make reading in Frencha pleasure in your school, no matterwhich published course you are using.Each card can be read in one sitting,boosting the confidence of even the mostreluctant reader.
