United Way of Greater Lorain County concluded a successful campaign due to the tremendous support of our donors and
volunteers along with the extraordinary efforts of our staff. Our 2007 campaign totaled $2,837,269 thanks to the support of
our community. We offer a heartfelt thank you for your generosity and efforts.
This generosity enables our network of service providers to change lives and improve communities. These programs
provide individuals and families with food, shelter, counseling and mentoring. They provide hope and opportunity to those
most in need: The child too young to speak for themselves, the frail and isolated senior, the unemployed parent seeking
food for their family, or the teen struggling with the consequences of bad decisions regarding drugs or alcohol. These
caring services would not be possible without the generosity of donors and volunteers.
In addition to running our campaign, and allocating funds to our programs, the United Way of Greater Lorain County
completed a strategic plan this year. The plan which will be rolled out to the community during the coming year is bold and
exciting. The plan reaffirmed the community needs from our 2005 assessment: basic needs, nurturing children and youth,
and strengthening families. The key to our plan is that the United Way will now judge itself on obtaining specific
measurable improvements in these areas. During the coming year, the United Way will be implementing many action steps
that will transform our local United Way to a true impact organization. We look forward to discussing the details of this plan
with you over the coming year.
Given our bold agenda during these challenging times now more than ever the United Way will need your continued
financial support and volunteer involvement.

I knew I was ready to become a parent and soon found the help that I needed to make it a reality throughCatholic Charities adoption services. My heart swelled with emotion when I received the call from CatholicCharities adoption services telling me that my baby was born. My son, Avery, is the love of my life. Hebrings so much joy and fulfillment to me. I feel so blessed to be his mother. Thank you, United Way, forfunding the adoption services program. Avery & I are now complete...and one happy family.
Lynette

2007 Youth Leaders CouncilFund Distribution Volunteers
The United Way fund distribution volunteers know “what matters”! Over 20 trained volunteers throughout Lorain County provided oversight to the distribution of United Way funds to local nonprofit organizations whose programs effectively impact the quality of life in our community.
Our volunteers collectively gave 216 hours to ensure donor contributions were invested in the most efficient and effective programs.Volunteers reviewed applying programs to be certain that the program was accountable to donors and have measurable results; it is responsive to community needs and direct funding to where our 2005 Impact Report identified the greatest needs; and that the applying program follows a strategy and funding process that is easily understood by contributors, agencies, volunteers and our community.
A gift to United Way is truly a valuable investment and it affords us the opportunity to influence the condition of all in our community.I applaud you for your contribution and I would like to thank all of the volunteers, agency staff and board members whose efforts insurethat we improve lives in Lorain County.
