Introduction - National ContextUrban Regeneration CompaniesUrban Regeneration Companies (URC’s) are local partnerships with the aim of achieving the radical physical, economic and social transformation of towns and cities in declining urban areas.
• 23 Urban Regeneration Companies in the UK.
• English Partnerships are supporting 19 URC’s including Gloucester.
• URC’s are independent companies established by the relevant Local Authority and Regional Development Agency working alongside English Partnerships and other local groups.
• The principal aim is to engage the private sector in sustainable development set within a wider Regeneration Framework.
