PAAVAI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
Dear Parents, Students and Well Wishers.
Greetings from PAAVAI.
Welcome you all to our greeny, sprawling campus where you feel a
'Positive Energy' infused in you in the real sense. We successfully completed the
academic year 2008-09 with full of activities, projects, events and so on. In
Paavai, as you all know, we are very clear about the role and responsibilities of a
sound educational system.
To our belief and practice, the 'educational system' and the 'teaching and
learning process' should have the four basic principles –
relates to the
cognitive life skills and refers to both the acquisition of right knowledge as well
as the use of such knowledge in the right way. refers to the self
management skills like self awareness, self esteem, self confidence and coping
skills. refers mostly to interpersonal and social skills like
communication skills, refusal skills, negotiation skills, assertiveness skills,
interpersonal skills, co-operation, co-ordination and empathy skills. Last but
least refers to practical skills, closely associated with "bodily health
and integrity".
Knowing fully well the above, our teachers are moulded in such a way to
be very much aware of the said educational system which makes
in Paavai. Our well trained teachers with their active teaching learning
techniques exercised their fullest capabilities which paved us a way to secure
25th place among all the engineering colleges in the year 2007-08, we were in
10th place in the year 2008-09 and we now aim at No.1 place in the current
academic year 2009-10.
Your continued support and guidance helped Paavai to give birth to two
more institutions "Pavai College of Technology" and "Pavai Arts and Science
College for Women" from the academic year 2009-10.
As we are very much aware that teaching and research are intrinsically
bound together, we aim that the industries shall come closer to us and we hope
this year shall be to Paavai, the best year of and
thereby, we will enhance the capabilities of placing our students in the best
possible way to the best possible extent. I am confidently reiterating that our
staff team dedicated themselves and fully committed towards the constant and
in imparting the value added educational system in
Paavai. I hope that with all your co-operation, our team will achieve what we
aim at in the nearest future.
Details elaborated in the forthcoming pages of this small book may brief
the activities which we had in the academic year 2008 – 09 and I am so firm in
assuring that we will spend each and every second of the moments for the
betterment of our students and with a lot of expectation, I join you to welcome
the bright and prosperous academic year 2009 – 10.....

CSE department conducted a Guest lecture on
Wireless Communication System on 27.06.09.
Mrs. J.Premalatha, Dept.of CSE, Kongu Engineering
College, Perundurai, delivered a special lecture.
A three day Faculty Orientation Programme
was conducted from 01.07.09 to 03.07.09 on the
topic "Be United and Unique". International Jaycee
Trainer Mr. T.K. Chandrasekaran and his team gave
training to the staff members.
A Guest Lecture was organized by IT
department on the topic "Quantum Computing".
Mr. R.Thangarajan, Department of IT, Kongu
Engineering College, Erode, delivered the Guest
Lecture on 08.07.09 .
ECE Department organized a Guest lecture &
Inaugural Function of ECE Association XEPEX, on
07.08.09. Dr.M.Chandrasekar, GCE, Salem,
delivered a lecture on Wireless Technology.
EEE assoc ia t ion "ARISEE-10" was
inaugurated by Dr.N.Sivakumaran, I&C, NIT, Trichy
and he delivered a Guest Lecture on "Intelligent
systems" on 08.08.09.

A one day workshop on IAS, IPS and Civil
Service Examinations was conducted by
Dr.C.Sylendra Babu, IPS, Inspector General of
Police, Special Task Force, for the students on
12.08.09.
A Guest lecture and Inauguration Function
of CSE Association was held on 14.08.09.
Dr.S.Palanivel, Department of CSE., Annamalai
University, Chidambaram, gave a lecture on
"Speech and Image Processing".
59th State Level Inter School Boys Volleyball
Competition and 14th State Level Inter School Girls
Volleyball Competition was held in Paavai
Institutions from 09.08.09 to 12.08.09.
Mr.A.J.Martin Sudhakar, Secretary, Tamilnadu
Volleyball Association gave the keynote address.
Independence Day was celebrated in Paavai
Institutions with patriotic spirit. Chairman
C.A.N.V.Natarajan hoisted the National Flag and
delivered the Independence Day address on
15.08.09.
"A Passport Mela" was conducted in Paavai
campus on 20 .08 .09 . Mr.M.S r i r angan ,
Superintendent of Post Offices, Salem West division,
explained the process of getting passport through
post office.

A one day Intra Departmental Symposium
(Rendezvous - 09) was organized by IT department
on 28.08.09. Events like Paper Presentation, Code
Debugging, Quiz, and Technical Marketing were
conducted.
IT Association (PAZIT - Paavai Association of
Zeneta Innovative Technocrats) Inaugural Function
was held on 22.08.09. Mr.P.Ravisankar, Consultant
in Siemons, Bangalore, gave a special lecture on
"Overview of SAP".
The Inaugural function of first year B.E /
B.Tech, 4th Batch was held on 07.09.09 and it was
presided over by Sri.CA.N.V.Natarajan, Chairman,
Paavai Institutions.
The Inauguration of I Year MCA & MBA course
was held on 09.09.09 and it was presided over by
Sri.CA.N.V.Natarajan, Chairman, Paavai Institutions.
Anna University Inter Zone Basketball
Championship was conducted from 11.09.09 to
13.09.09 in Arjun Sports Maidhan. Mr.I.Raja, IPS,
Inspector General of Police, TNPL, Karur, gave the
keynote address. Dr.S.Sivanesan, Deputy
Chairman, Anna University Sports Board, Anna
University, Chennai, felicitated the gathering.

MBA Association Inaugural function was
conducted on 08.10.09. Mr. C. Sivakumar, CEO,
Prabha Engineering, Hosur, was the Chief Guest.
Group Captain R.R.Vijayakumar, Executive Director,
MMA - Chennai, delivered a special lecture.
An Orientation Programme was conducted
for the I B.E./B. Tech. students from 06.10.09 to
08.10.09 on the topic "Set, Start and Succeed". Mr.
T.K. Chandrasekaran, Chief Trainer inaugurated the
session and motivated the students. In the
valedictory function, Prof. Ratna Natarajan, gave the
valedictory address.
An Orientation Programme was conducted for
the I B.E.,B.Tech. Students by Mr.S.S.Venkatesan and
Mrs.Jayanthi Venkatesan, Corporate Trainers from
08.10.09 to 09.10.09 on the topic "Arise, Awake and
Achieve".
A Guest Lecture on "Graphics & Multimedia"
by Mr.Karthic, Executive Director, E-Logic
Multimedia, Salem, was organized by CSE
department on 26.09.09.
A Guest Lecture on Data Warehousing and
Mining by Prof. N. Jaisankar, School of Computer
Science, VIT University, Vellore, was organized by IT
department on 23.09.09.

A Guest Lecture on "Role of Finance
Manager and current scenario" by Dr.K.Manian,
Gem Business Academy, Gopi, Erode, was
organized by MBA department on 26.10.09.
A Guest Lecture on "Entrepreneur Awareness
Programme" by Shri.T.Venkateswaran, DGM
(Marketing) NSIC Ltd., Madurai, was organized by
MBA department on 30.10.09
E-Cell inauguration and exhibition of stalls was
organized by MBA department of both the
Engineering Colleges. Mr.K.P.Natarajan, MD, KPN
Transport Service India Pvt. Ltd., Salem, inaugurated
and delivered a guest lecture on 23.10.09.
An Orientation Programme was conducted
for I yea r MBA & MCA students by
Mr.S.S.Venkatesan & Mrs.Jayanthi Venkatesan on
21.10.09.
CSI Student chapter was inaugurated by Mr.
M.Murugesan, Education Directorate, Computer
Society of India, Chennai, jointly organized by the
departments of CSE / IT / MCA on 06.11.09

English club was inaugurated by Prof. Garnet
Fernez, St.Joseph's College, Trichy, on 16.11.09. He
gave a guest lecture on "Speaking skill makes a man
complete" to the students and it was organized by
English department.
An awareness Programme on "Anti Ragging"
was conducted on 22.11.09 and Honorable Justice
Mr.M.Jayachandran, Judge, High Court, Chennai,
gave a detailed account about Law and its sections
relating to anti-ragging to the students. Dr.K.Sekar,
Principal, Urumu Dhanalakshmi College, Trichy
gave a special address.
A two day workshop on Network simulator
(NS2) was organized by CSE department in
association with CSI during 06.11.09 & 07.11.09.
Mr.S.Ilayaraja, AV Infoma, Chennai, was the
resource person.
Tamil Nadu State Level Bharathiyar birthday
celebration sports competitions were held on
05.12.09. Mr.S.Gandhiselvan, Minister of Health
and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, participated in
the function.
One day workshop on Nano Magnetic
materials and Global warming was organized by
Science & Humanities department on 06.12.09.
Dr.D.Rajan Babu, VIT, Dr.Y.Dominic Ravichandran,
VIT, were the resource persons.

Department of Management Studiesorganized an International Conference on"Innovative Practices in Management (IPM-09)" on31.12.09. In the inaugural function Mr.HirooWakimori, Monsato America Ltd., Japan gave thekeynote address and released the ConferenceProceedings and Mrs.Keiko, Academician, Japan,gave the special address. Dr.SM.Mohamed Ismail,Vice chancellor, South Eastern University of SriLanka, Sri Lanka, gave the valedictory address.
A Guest Lecture on "Higher Study
Opportunities Abroad" was conducted by ISTE
Student Chapter on 21.01.10. Mr.Rakesh Kumar,
Branch Manager, Education Matters, Chennai, gave
the keynote address.
The Youth festival was celebrated on 22.01.10
in Paavai Institutions in a grand manner.
Tmt.R.Mallika, CEO, Namakkal, gave the special
address.
MBA department organized a Guest Lecture
on Marketing strategies during post recession phase
by Prof. P.Suresh Kumar, Department of
Management studies, Bannariamman Institute of
Technology, Sathyamangalam, on 23.01.10.
Department of IT conducted a guest lecture in
association with CSI, on Grid Computing by Dr.
T.Purushothaman, GCT, Coimbatore, on 25.01.10.

61st Republic Day was celebrated on 26.01.10 in
Paavai Institutions. Chairman C.A.N.V. Natarajan,
hoisted the National flag and addressed the
gathering.
A one day Intra Departmental Symposium-
PRAVAGHA'10 was organized by EEE department on
05.02.10 to develop the technical knowledge of the
students.
A one day Intra Departmental Symposium-
EZARS'10 was conducted by ECE department on
11.02.10 to develop the Technical Knowledge of
the students.
A State Level Management Meet - Symphony
2K10, was organized by MBA department of both
the Colleges on 30.01.10. Mr.Prince Herald Milton,
DGM,Vishal Precision Products Pvt, Ltd., CBE & Mr.
I.Jerald , MD, JR Communications, Trichy, were the
chief guests.
The English club conducted a workshop on
"Exploring the Role of Teachers in the present
scenario" on 12.02.10 by Dr.R.Kasthuri Bai, HOD of
English, Sri Sarada College for Women inspired the
faculty members of all the Paavai Institutions by her
thought-provoking lecture.

"Achiever's Eve" was celebrated in Paavai
Institutions on 27.02.10. Mr.Sarath Babu CEO of
Food King Catering Services delivered the special
Lecture on "Steps to success". 7,000 students
participated in the grand function.
N S S c a m p w a s c o n d u c t e d i n
O.Sowthapuram Village. Our NSS volunteers
planted trees and created an awareness about
environmental cleanliness to the public during
15.02.10 to 21.02.10.
Department of IT & MCA conducted National
Level Symposium "TECHNORING'10, on 20.02.10,
Mr.B.Radhakrishnan, HCL Technologies, Chennai,
and Mr. Premkumar, MD, Oofy Technology, Erode,
gave special Lecture and distributed the prizes.
"Kumutham Snehithi" programme was
conducted in Paavai Campus on 15.02.10.
Tmt.Loganayaki, Editor, Kumutham Snehithi,
Chennai, inaugurated the session. Mrs.J.Rekha
Priyadharshini, Mayor, Salem Corporation, gave the
valedictory note.

The department of CSE conducted a National
Level Technical Symposium "AARUTRA 10" on
10.03.10. Mr. B.Venkatesh, Mindtree Ltd, Chennai
and Mr. M.Dhanasu, Central Electrical Division,
Salem Steel Plant, Salem, gave their keynote address
to the Students.
Vijay TV Fame, Shri.C. Gopinath, was the Chief
Guest for Toppers Noon on 06.03.10. He delivered
the keynote address and distributed the prizes to the
academic toppers.
The Annual Day Function, the highlight of
Mupperum Vizha, was celebrated on 06.03.10.
Thiraiulaga Markandeyan Mr.R.Sivakumar gave
special address and enlightened the gathering.
Paavai students gave colourful cultural programme.
Around 12,500 Students & Parents participated in
this programme.
In Paavai Institutions, Second GoverningCouncil Meeting was held on 17.03.10. TheCha i rman of Paava i Ins t i tu t ions , Shr i .CA.N.V.Natarajan, Smt.Mangai Natarajan, Prof.K.K.Ramasamy, Mr.S.Padmanabhan,, Mr.VedantamS.Ayyangar, Mr.E.P.Subhash, Mr.Rajeev Anand,Mr.Ravi Vishwanathan, Mr. P.S. Subramaniam,Dr. C. Jegadheesan, Dr. V. Murali Bhaskaran andDr.J.Sundararajan have participated. Mentors andmentees were given training.

A Guest lecture on "Transactional Analysis"
by Dr. A.Kaliamoorthy, Alagappa Institute of
Management, Alagappa University, Karaikudi, was
organized by MBA department on 22.03.10.
"Efficiency Vs Effectiveness in Teaching", a
Faculty Development Programme was conducted by
the CSE Department on 19.03.10. Mrs.Vijayanthi
Jagannathan, Management Consultant and
Corporate Trainer, Chennai, conducted the
programme.
Annual Sports Day was celebrated on
27.03.10 in Paavai Institutions in a splendid manner.
Mr.V.Chandrasekaran, Arjun Awardee and Life Time
Achievement Awardee, National Table Tennis
Champion distributed the prizes to the winners.
The department of EEE organized a CSIR
sponsored workshop on "Emerging Trends in Power
Electronics". Prof. K.K.Ray, School of Electrical
Engineering VIT, Vellore, and Mr. P.Ramakrishnan,
Megawin Switch Gears Pvt, Salem, shared their
knowledge with the students on 08.04.10.

A one day Workshop was organized by MBA
department on 20.04.10 on the topic "Being more
Effective" by Prof.N.Jayapathi, Dept. of CSE, Kongu
Engineering College, Erode.
"Vetri Nichayam Programme" was conducted
by Paavai Institutions & Daily Thanthi on 4.05.10 to
create awareness among the X & XII students. Nearly
3000 Students were benefited by this programme.
Paavai College of Engineering has become
a n E d u c a t i o n a l I n s t i t u t i o n m e m b e r
(Membership Number 101153) in Computer
Society of India, valid till 31st March 2016. CSI
student Branch is established in Paavai College of
Engineering on 11th September 2009.

A Campus Recruitment Drive was
conducted by M/s. Roland Technology Services on
15.12.09 in Paavai Institutions. Mr. A.G.Titus, HR
Manager, RTS gave the keynote address.
M/s. Net Magnus Solutions (India) Pvt. Ltd.
conducted a Campus Recruitment Drive on
05.01.10. Mr. Jay Kumar, Principle Analyst, Net
Magnus Solutions (India) Pvt.Ltd. addressed the
gathering.
A Campus Recruitment Drive was conducted
by M/s. EDUCOMP on 11.09.09. Senior Business
Manager, Mr.B.Muthukaruppan, gave the placement
address. 49 students were recruited.
On 06.02.10, a Campus Recruitment Drive
was conducted by M/s. Cybernet-Slashsupport India
Pvt. Ltd. Mr.Asit Singh, HR Manager, gave the
keynote address.

We, the students of Paavai Educational Institutions, are very much aware that we are
prepared to cherish and uphold the Paavai Principles such as Refined Culture and Rich Values. We
are taught a kind of education on the Paavai Campus which is based on the modern and humanistic
thoughts which enable us to promote the peace of mankind in general.
The Paavai Campus, where we receive the creative energy to translate our lofty dreams into
meaningful and constructive actions, inspires us into a realization that it is our responsibility to
take care of the welfare and security of the brothers and sisters with whom we study here.
We whole - heartedly believe that we would recognise and respect the love, affection,
care and concern of our parents and teachers, and also follow their well-meant guidance and
disciplining instructions and come up in life with flying colours.

The young sage of India, Swamy Vivekananda, has established the greatness of Indian cultureand the identity and the sovereignity of this Land of 'Vedha and Sathya' by addressing the participantsfrom the core of his heart as "Brothers! and Sisters!!" in the world Religious Conference, held atChicago, America.
In the same manner, Paavai strongly emphasises the friendship with fraternal affinity with the
goal of attaining knowledge mingled with pure affection and without any expectation and servility.
In Paavai premises, a girl student will address her co-girl student as 'Sister' and her co-boy student
as 'Brother' and similarly a boy student will address his co-boy student as 'Brother' and his co-girl
student as 'Sister'. This practice is already in vogue, cent percent on the Paavai Campus.
