SEASON OUTLOOKSEASON OUTLOOKTyler Kjorstad put the Saints at the NCAA Skiing Championships for the second season in a row, ending with a 30th place fi nish in the 20km freestyle, at the NCAA Championships. Both the Men’s and Women’s Saints are motivated and ready to take yet another step towards fulfi lling the team’s Vision and Mission in 2010. Junior captain, Julia Curry, returns off of promising results, including two top-20 fi nishes at the NCAA Regionals and her fi rst appearance at the USSA Junior Olympics, despite fi ghting illness late in the training season last year. Strong training over the summer has Curry ready to take the lady Saints a notch higher in 2010. She will be supported by senior captain, Megan Holmes, senior Caroline Lund, junior Lindsay Wallis, sophomore Melissa Kempenich, and freshmen Lindsey Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Laura Smith, and Mari Wallis. With increased depth again in 2010, the lady Saints will look to jump into the top fi ve teams in the CCSA and defend their Minnesota Collegiate Championship title.Coming off a stellar sophomore season in which he fi nished all CCSA freestyle races in the top 10, junior captain, Waylon Manske, has worked hard to increase his fi tness, particularly in the classic technique. Manske is a real possibility to continue the men Saints NCAA qualifi cation run in 2010. He leads a Saints men’s team of incredible depth with varsity returners in junior captain, Stefan Hupperts, juniors Matt Nistler and Joe Wacker, and sophomores Kirk Leach and Eric Boyles. A stellar recruiting class of freshmen high school and Junior Olympic standouts, Kasey Bacso, Jake Morgan, John Wessling, Kelin Dunfee, and Ryan Wright put the men Saints at their strongest position in history for 2010 and beyond.

TEAM VISIONTEAM VISIONTh e College of St. Scholastica Ski Team will be the most successful Collegiate Division III Nordic Ski program in the Midwest by 2010. By 2012, the team will annually qualify athletes to the NCAA Skiing Championships for each gender. On its way to these achievements, Nordic skiing will become synonymous with Th e College of St. Scholastica via a vibrant skiing culture manifested in the varsity team’s achievements as well as the strength of the development team in numbers. Th e St. Scholastica Ski Team will be fi lled with quality student athletes accomplishing their academic and athletic goals.

TEAM MISSIONTEAM MISSIONStriving to be one’s best takes a full and concerted eff ort, from oneself and within the context of the group.
