Earth Science Slides Geologist/pilot/photographer John S. Shelton has compiled some of his best photography into a set of 500 35mm slides, selected to illustrate the principles of geology. Outstanding aerial photography, ground views, and close-ups provide an excellent teaching tool to supplement classroom and laboratory courses as well as field trips in the earth sciences and physical geography.

A comprehensive 176-page guidebook is included and aids teachers and students in interpreting the scenes and provides information, such as location and age of rocks, not apparent from the slides alone.

The following subjects are included in Set 2 of the Earth Science Images on CD. The slide set includes all of the images on pages 2 and 3.

Streams and Fluvial Landscapes - 31 images Storm and flood; Stream and erosion patterns; Stream terraces; Some fluvial landscapes.

Lakes & Other Local Depressions - 16 images Volcanic lakes; Landslide lakes; Glacial lakes; Tectonic lakes and depressions; Solu-tion ponds.

Shore Processes - 27 images Wave force and refraction; Seasonal changes; Erosion by waves; Waves and sedi-ment; Coastal uplift and subsidence.

Glaciation - 36 images Mountain glaciers; Erosion and deposits by mountain glaciers; Erosion by continental ice sheets; Deposits by ice sheets and meltwaters; Side-effects of continental glaciation; Late Paleozoic glaciation in the Southern Hemisphere.

Windblown Sand and Dust - 21 images Dust storms; Accumulation of windblown sand; Sand dunes on the march; Eolian ripples and cross-bedding; Abrasion by wind- blown sand.

Revised 3rd Edition

Stereograms may be used with a folding pocket lens stereoscope or a large mirror stereoscope.

This unique collection of aerial stereo photographs and remote sensing imagery includes more than 90 sets of stereo pairs of black

and white and color aerial photographs obtained from various

government agencies in the U. S. and Canada. The collection includes

standard aerial photographs (scale approximately 1-in. = 1 mile) plus

special low altitude and high altitude photographs flown for specific

geologic and geographic missions.

The atlas includes 30 color images and is printed with 300 line

screens on coated paper to produce near photographic quality.

The author has attempted to provide examples of geologic features from all of the geologic provinces. The images, if purchased

separately, would be valued at more than $5,000.

The stereo pairs may be viewed with either a pocket lens stereo-

scope or a large mirror stereoscope. It is available in two versions. The

standard edition includes a sixteen-page teacher’s supplement with

locations, topographic and geologic map references, and features

illustrated. The student lab edition does not include this information

so that it can be used as a laboratory exercise. Questions accompany

the images in both editions.

The atlas is ideal for the study of physical geology, structural geology, physical geography, geomorphology, photogrammetry, remote sensing, and aerial photo interpretation.

New to this edition:

Size 81⁄2 x 11-in. Includes a three-ring binder.
