Comprising over 70% of the Earth’s surface, water is undoubtedly the most precious natural resource that exists on our planet.  Without the seemingly invaluable compound comprised of hydrogen and oxygen, life on Earth would be non-existent: it is essential for everything on our planet to grow and prosper. 

Although we as humans recognize this fact, we disregard it by polluting our rivers, lakes, and oceans. Subsequently, we are slowly but surely harming our planet to the point where organisms are dying at a very alarming rate. 

In addition to innocent organisms dying off, our drinking water has become greatly affected as is our ability to use water for recreational purposes.

  In order to combat water pollution, we must understand the problems and become part of the solution.

Water is inequaly distributed around the world.

Geography

• Water is contained even in the solid crystalline rocks. So into 1 [m]3 of granite are located approximately 26 liters of water.

• The most transparent water in the Sargasso Sea, where it is possible to see up to the distance to 66 m.

•Reverse process - passage from liquid state to gaseous, is called evaporation. Surface evaporation of water and even ice (sublimation) also depends on the humidity of air, which makes it possible to dry linen in freezing weather. By this is explained the fact that the heat in the coastal areas with the moist climate is transferred with more difficulty than in the continental.

Water and Biology.

• There are strong evidences that life on earth appeared in a body of water. Only the planet Earth has three states of water, and it offers a suitable environment for life to began. Since all life forms involve water, water is seen as the source, matrix, and mother of life. Water is important, because water is required for life, and some people even consider water as life blood.

• Since water supports life, living organisms also modify their environment, changing the nature of the water in which they live. Water and biology interweave into an entangled maze waiting for explorers and curious minds.

• Water dissolves or emulsifies other life-supporting substances and transport them to intercellular and intracellular fluids. It is also a medium in which reactions take place. Reactions provide energy for living.

Water in chimistry

Water is an unusual compound with unique physical properties.

As a result, its the compound of life. Yet, its the most abundant compound

in the biosphere of Earth. These properties are related to its electronic structure,

bonding, and chemistry.

Water consists of only hydrogen and oxygen. Both elements have natural stable and

radioactive isotopes.Water composition :

• American astronomers in the constellation of Pegasus discovered the tracks of water vapor in the atmosphere of planet HD 209458b. Planet relates to the class “hot Jupiter” and are located from us at a distance 150 light years.

• On Venus at the height of 50 km the temperature falls to 70 degrees, pressure approaches pressure on the earth's surface, and in the clouds of planet the large number of water is contained.

• The composition of the rings of planet Saturn is heterogeneous.  Internal rings are folded of the particles with the predominance of silicates, and external consist of chunks and small splinters of water ice with the admixtures of ammonia.

• Many authors speak about water in their books one of them is well-known Russian writer Lermontov.

Water in Art• Ivan Konstantinovich

Aivazovskiy(1817-1900) was born in the family of a merchant of Armenian origin in the town of Feodosia, Crimea.  His parents were under strained circumstances and he spent his childhood in poverty. With the help of people who had noticed the talented youth, he entered the Simpheropol gymnasium, and then the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, where he took the landscape painting course and was especially interested in marine landscapes

• Casper David Friedrich (September 5, 1774 – May 7, 1840) was a 19th-century German Romanticlandscape painter, generally considered the most important of the movement.[2] He is best known for his mid-period allegoricallandscapes which typically feature contemplative figures silhouetted against night skies, morning mists, barren trees or Gothic ruins. His primary interest as an artist was the contemplation of nature, and his often symbolic and anti-classical work seeks to convey a subjective, emotional response to the natural world.
