NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID

The Academy awards financial aid on the basis of demonstrated need. Based on the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS), School andStudent Services (SSS) estimates an amount each family can contribute toward educational expenses by considering the family’sincome, assets, size, and expenses in addition to making allowances for necessities and taxes. The Academy then uses this estimate alongwith the additional information requested by the Financial Aid Committee as a baseline from which to make fair and objective financialaid decisions.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND POLICIES

• The Academy understands that independent school is an educational and financial commitment and a choice on the part of thefamily. In committing to assisting families who express financial need, the Academy expects that families will contribute to theirchild’s education to the extent in which they are able, as assessed by the Financial Aid Committee. All families will pay some amounttoward tuition.

• Financial aid awards only cover the cost of tuition.Additional expenses, which may include books, lunch, and school trips, are notincluded although some of these costs are reduced for families who receive financial aid.

• Financial aid is only available to students who hold US citizenship or have permanent resident status.

• In cases of divorce or separation, both natural parents are required to apply for financial aid by submitting a PFS.The Academyconsiders the resources of all parents and guardians involved when determining awards.

• Due to limited funds, financial aid is not guaranteed to all applicants who qualify. In some cases, a student may be offered a financialaid grant that does not fully meet his or her family’s demonstrated need. In other instances, a student may be placed in the financialaid waiting pool in the event that additional funding becomes available.

• If additional information regarding a family’s financial circumstances becomes known, the Academy reserves the right to adjustthe award granted to the family.

• Families are required to re-apply for financial aid every year in which they are enrolled.Awards may be adjusted based on changes infamily circumstances; however, families can assume that their funding will be renewed at a similar level assuming no significantchanges to their financial status.

• Financial aid applications that are received past the deadline will be reviewed on a funds-available basis.

• Families re-enrolling at the Academy who have not previously received financial aid must submit tax information for the previousthree years as well as a letter detailing the change in family circumstances.
