Roma 12th January - ENAV holds the meeting “Volcanic Ash Exercises Steering Group” of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) EUR/NAT at Roma ACC. The group, of which the major European providers are mem-bers, undertakes studies and testing for knowledge about volcanic ash and its impact on air traffic management.

Following the meeting, the new operational area of the Control Tower was visited, created and equipped with the most advanced technologies that are currently available in the provision of air traffic ma-nagement. ENAV AT GATE XXI

Roma 21st-24th January - ENAV, together with its subsi-diary company Techno Sky, attends the first “Gate XXI” - the international exhibition organize in Italy and dedicate to the world of airport and aerospace technologies. During the event, the Centro Studi Demetra has organized a series of seminars focused on the topics of the development and prospects of the aeronautical sector, hosting representatives of government, industry and the aeronautical sector. Ciampino 26th January - A delegation of the 9th Com-mission of the Chamber of Deputies for Transport, led by President Mario Valducci, visit the ENAV Area Control Cen-tre (ACC) at Roma Ciampino. The delegation was received by ENAV’s Chairman Luigi Martini, CEO Guido Pugliesi and Director General Massimo Garbini, who also showed them the control room and illustrated the principal interna-tional activities toward the evolution of the air traffic control systems. THE 9TH COMMISSION OF THE CHAMBEROF DEPUTIES FOR TRANSPORT AT ROMA ACC

Milano 28th January - The tenth edition of the Natio-nal e-SecurityLab Conference takes place in Milano, con-cerning solutions and services for data and applications security, as well as companies’ accesses.The event, organised by BCI Italia and by AIPSI (Italian Association of IT Security Professionals) focused on the Best Practice of many companies that use innovative techno-logies. ENAV’s Head of Central Security Unit Francesco Di Maio attended the conference and highlighted that in-vestments were carried out by the Company in order to ensure maximum security of physical infrastructures and the protection of the operational network.

ENAV TAKES PART IN THE e-SECURITYLAB CONFERENCE

Bruxelles 27th January - ENAV opens the new repre-sentative offices in the building where the main European ATM Service Providers offices are located: Spain (AENA), Germany (DFS), France (DSNA), Italy (ENAV), Great Britain (NATS) and the Scandinavian countries (NEAP and NO-RACON), which combined control 16 million flights every year. In the same building the SESAR JU offices can also be found. Matthias Ruete, Head of the Directorate-General (DG) for Energy and Transport of the European Commission, David McMillan, Director General of EUROCONTROL as well as members of the European Parliament of different nationalities, Massimo Garbini, ENAV’s Director General and Alessandro Di Giacomo, ENAV’s Head of External Re-lations, take part in the meeting.

Roma 4th February - ENAV takes part in the “Ready for EGNOS” Conference which took place during the SAT Expo Europe 2010 event. EGNOS, the “European Geo-stationary Navigation Overlay Service” is a project develo-ped by the European Space Agency (ESA) with the support of the European Commission and EUROCONTROL, with the purpose of improving GPS performances so as to pro-vide a highly reliable and precise satellite navigation and positioning system better than the currently one available in Europe. Roma 9th February - ENAV receives the “Training Pro-vider” certification from ENAC. The certification, which is recognised by all the European member states’ national security agencies, is an important achievement for ENAV because it permits the Company to offer training courses to third parties that operate within the aeronautical transport industry, a key step in the development of the Technological Polo (the Academy) in Forlì.During the presentation ceremony ENAC’s Director Gene-ral, Alessio Quaranta, pointed out that the Academy is not just an asset for ENAV, but for the Country’s entire system.In the photograph from left: ENAV’s CEO Guido Pugliesi and ENAC’s Director General Alessio Quaranta.

5TH CISM NATIONAL MEETING

Forlì 2nd-3rd February - The 5th National Meeting of ENAV’S CISM Components (Critical Incident Stress Ma-nagement) was held at the Forlì Academy. CISM is the structured assistance system designed for people who have experienced a critical event and it is aimed at managing stress reactions that may be experienced whilst carrying out the Air Traffic Controller profession. During the meeting the activities carried out in the first four years of activities were evaluated and future objectives were defined. The photo-graph highlights a moment of the event.

THE POPE MEETS AIR TRANSPORT WORKERS

Roma 20th February - The Pope meets employees of ENAC and ENAV, who are accompanied in their visit to the Vatican by Italian Cabinet Undersecretary Gianni Letta and by the Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Sen. Altero Matteoli. Employees of several other Italian air transport organisations (Techno Sky, airlines, management compa-nies, aviation industries, various agencies and bodies, law enforcement) also attended at the Papal Audience, filling the Nervi Hall with thousands of enthusiastic faithful. During the Audience, Pope Benedict XVI underscored how the tasks of ENAV and ENAC are truly noteworthy in regulating and controlling air traffic and in providing efficiency in the na-tional transport system “.

THE ITALIAN COURT OF AUDITORS: ANOTHER POSITI-VE EVALUATION OF ENAV’S MANAGEMENT

ENAV AT THE ROADMAP TOWARDSIMPLEMENTING THE SINGLE EUROPEAN SKY

Roma 23rd February The Court of Auditors makes a positive as-sessment concerning ENAV’s management, also in relation to the year 2008. The Court of Auditors considers ENAV as the most efficient ser-vice provider amongst the five most important European providers. It highlights that such re-sults were achieved not only because of funda-mental important techno-logical investments but also because of an ac-

tual improvement in the way technology is used, thanks to a flawless integration with the Techno Sky subsidiary and po-sitive results achieved by the subsidiary itself. In the report, the Court of Auditors also draws attention to the positive relationship that ENAV has established with trade unions, considering that no national strikes have taken place.

Amsterdam 9th-11th March - ENAV takes part in the ATC Global, the most important European aeronautical in-dustry fair concerning air traffic control. The Company also introduces international stakeholders to its commercial offer focused on Airspace Design, Flight Inspection and Academy services. An area of the ENAV’s stand was de-dicated to the SICTA Consortium (Advanced Systems for Air Traffic Control). Techno Sky also takes part in the fair with an entirely dedicated display area. During the ATC Global, ENAV has hosted a number of meetings amongst international participants of the BLUE MED and Coflight projects.

ENAV TAKES PART IN THE HCR ACADEMY CONFERENCE CONCERNING THE LABOUR MARKET

Roma 24th March - Massimo Garbini, ENAV’s Director General is interviewed by TG2 RAI in the first of a number of talks during which he introduces the FEP (Flight Efficiency Plan) that has been adopted by the Company. Other inter-views will be done with the TG1 and TG3 Leonardo and the Sole 24 Ore. ENAV’s Director General describes the way in which ENAV has managed to reduce aircraft flight and taxi times thanks to a complex reorganisation of routes, thus helping airline companies save considerable amounts of fuel and, consequently, significantly reducing Co2 emis-sions in the atmosphere.

Ciampino 11th June - A meeting between ENAV and CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) is held at Roma ACC. The meeting is the occasion for ENAV to show to the Chinese delegation its own CNS systems (Communi-cation, Navigation, Surveillance) and - in particular - the procedures that the Company uses to validate and render these systems operative and interoperable. A second me-eting is planned at Shangai. In the main frame Su Lan-gen, Head of CAAC delegation and Loris Padella, Head of ENAV’s Technical Area.

Venezia 11th June - Massimo Garbini, ENAV’s Director General, takes part in the Green Airport Meeting organised by SAVE, the Airport Mana-gement Company of Veni-ce, and by Siemens. The two companies have laun-ched a project aimed at rationalising and contai-ning energy requirements of the most important Ve-netian airport.

Roma 19th June - The Board of Directors of ENAV, con-vened under the presidency of Commander Luigi Martini, designates the members of the new Board of Directors of its subsidiary Techno Sky: Antonio Iozzino (Chairman), Massi-mo Garbini (CEO) and Antonio Serafini (Board Member), the latter two of whom also maintain their respective posi-tions of Director General and Head of ENAV’s Administra-tive Department.

Roma 21th June - Francesco Di Maio, ENAV’s Head of Central Security Unit takes part in the Symposium on the state of Online Trust in Europe. The event was organised in Roma by UNICRI, the UN interregional institute whose mis-sion is that of assisting governmental and non-governmental organisations in implementing the most appropriate mea-sures so as to prevent crime and criminal justice. The stu-dy day was dedicated to the entrustment of data within IT systems, with the purpose of analysing the efficiency of current European legislation concerning judicial guarantees and reactions against criminal IT attacks to critical bodies, Institutions and infrastructures.

Ancona 24th June - ENAV organises a fire fighting training day at the Ancona Control To-wer as part of a number of recurrent practices car-ried out in order to incre-ase the synergy amongst all airport bodies and structures. The Ancona Provincial Fire Brigade, the Police Forces, Civil Protection volunteers, the health service, the Aer-dorica S.p.A Airport Ma-nagement Company and

ENAC took part in the operation.

Roma 3rd July - The VFRFlight.net, the Italian forum dedi-cated to the general/VDS aviation, has granted the Geno-va IAAV the price as “Best Italian VFR Friendly Approach 2010” for the kindness and courtesy of the operational personnel in managing VRF traffic. Roma 6th July - The Centro studi Demetra has granted the 2010 Luigi Muratori Prize to ENAV’s CEO Guido Puglie-si. The prize was personally delivered to Guido Pugliesi by the Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Sen. Altero Matteoli for having succeeded in transforming the public company into a modern enterprise, to the extent that rele-vant international bodies and customers consider it as an excellent service provider for the quality, reliability and sa-fety of air navigation services in Europe. FIT-CISL CONFERENCE

Roma 21st September - ENAV and COPIT (Comitato di Parlamentari per l’Innovazione Tecnologica e lo Svilup-po Sostenibile) renew the agreement for the establishment of an active cooperation in support of corporate policies for technological development at international level in the domain of advanced technologies for the air industry. ENAV AND COPIT RENEW THE AGREEMENT

Viterbo 30th September - 2nd October - The 2010 football-soccer tournament between ENAV and trade unions takes place. This year’s sports competition was promoted by the Industrial Relations department. More than 100 pla-yers participated, including trade unionists from various or-ganisations such as FIT-CISL, UIL-T, private labour COBAS, ATM-PP, the Industrial Relations and the Operational Area teams. The FIT-CISL team wins the final game (in the pho-tograph).

Roma 29th September - Roberto Di Carlo, ENAV’s Head of Safety, Validation and Technical-Operational Quality (in the photograph) takes part in the “Interna-tional Conference on Ope-rational Risk data for deci-sion making” organised by the DIPO (ABI) Association – Italian Database Opera-tional Losses. The purpose of the conference: the crea-tion of a network amongst banking experts, technical secretaries of various aca-demic consortiums, diffe-rent kinds of providers and database caretakers, on

the basis of public data re-elaboration.
