R E N T O N
Welcome to the 25th Annual IKEA Renton River Days, with activi-ties in Liberty Park on July 23-25, 2010. This year's festival theme is “25 Years of Magic in the Park!”—an invitation to discover the diverse offerings that showcase Renton's passion for music, art, food, active life-style, community organizations and our citizens. With different events and activities for all generations, the festival brings the community together for a mid-summer showcase of fun and entertainment.
Twenty planning committees and 250 volunteers have been working diligently to ensure there will be something for everyone at the festival this year. Among many new events and activities, stop by Renton High School for the Volleyball Tournament, the Skate Park Exhibition at Liberty Park, and the Moonlight Movie at the Renton Senior Activity Center. As the official guide for IKEA Renton River Days, this special section of the Renton Reporter contains all the locations, times, and spotlight features to help you plan for your favorite events with family and friends.
New this year, Kids’ Day (previously on Wednesday of festival week) has merged into our three-day weekend, July 23-25. Now there are three days of special fun for kids. The Wenatchee Youth Circus will perform three shows at Cedar River Park (July 23 at 1:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and July 24 at 1:30 p.m.). With more FREE weekend fun than ever for kids, features include: Mobile Gaming Theatre, CrayonFest, Hamster Balls, Climbing Wall, Putt Putt Golf, Toymaker’s Workshop, Ms. B Hooping Allure, Dizzy’s Tumble Bus, Old McLendon Petting Zoo, Inflatable PlayLand, Kids’ Photo I.D. Cards, LEGO PlayZone, Junk Chimes, and Sound of Culture Activity Booth.
Outdoor entertainment is non-stop with over 30 performing groups on two stages in Liberty Park. Festival-goers will experience youth tap dance, magic, Klezmer and Yiddish music, rockin’ country, tumbling, Native American story-telling, jazz, bluegrass, marimba, juggling, Irish dance, classic rock n’ roll, fiddling, acoustic and country folk, and clog-ging to name a few.
In celebration of the festival’s 25th anniversary, I hope many of you
have been participating in The Duck Hunt. With daily clues via Facebook and Twitter feeds, explore the greater Renton city limits for 25 decorated ducks at various business and com-munity locations. Turn in your completed bingo-style card at Liberty Park for a chance at winning prizes.
Free shuttle service will operate Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24, linking the main festival grounds of Liberty Park (at Bronson Way N. near the tennis courts) to avail-able parking at Renton Memorial Stadium. Look for the "River Days Shuttle Stop" signs. This free service will run continuously on Friday, July 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, July 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
I hope you will take a moment to view page 9 and recognize the event sponsors and contributors who have made our 2010 festival possible. When you visit these businesses in the community, take a moment to thank them for their civic involvement and corporate partnership. Since 1986, IKEA Renton River Days remains free of admission charge and nearly all activities are provided at no expense to children and families.
Please join me in experiencing Renton's finest celebration as we proudly showcase what continues to make Renton a special place to live, learn, work, play, and raise families —our strong, vibrant commu-nity spirit! Experience the magic for yourself!

Get All Your Ducks in a RowNew this year, and sponsored by First Savings Bank NW and Lone
Shark Games, is The Duck Hunt that will take participants on a search around Renton. Diana Duck has lost 25 of her ducklings around Renton and needs help finding them! There are 25 duckling statues placed in businesses and public locations throughout Renton. Participants will use clues to help Diana find her missing ducklings and record their findings on a Bingo card, which can be downloaded or picked up at any of the duckling locations. Clues are posted on www.facebook.com/rentonriverdays and www.twitter.com/rentonriv-erdays. Throughout festival weekend, duck hunters can turn in their Bingo cards in Liberty Park for the opportunity to win prizes like an iPod Touch, boots from Renton Western Wear, or an IKEA gift card.
