Carolie’s Culinaire
A – Z brief glimpse in pictures of six years in New Zealand 2011 – 2017
A is for Assurance “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil -‐ this is the gift of God.” Ecclesiastes 3:12 – 13 How blessed we are to be to be together in good health and happiness every day! We became citizens of New Zealand in June. Our dear friends and previous neighbours, Garry and Carole Webber are at present the Mayoral pair who carried out the official duties required for this ceremony!

D is for design! Adri has a new plan for designing with wood almost every day! At present he is making these beautiful marquetry wall clocks for gifts and galleries.
The centrepiece of our lounge is a marquetry table.
E is for Everyday life! When moving to a new country, one of the first discoveries that you make, if you were not wise enough to know it beforehand, is that although you change your country and environment, you do not start off new, but build on your past. Every day that happened in your life before counts and you take your whole “being” along! Happy memories from where you came from and the wonderful people who shaped your lives before, are not erased. They last forever and technology makes it possible to stay in contact with loved ones and friends all over the globe!
The day still starts with coffee and rusks and we often bake milk tart – as we always did! Many aspects of your daily activities are just a continuation of what you have built into your life previously, despite the changed milieu and new challenges. You wake up in the morning, with the same prayer and sense of gratitude for the new day and you just know: “All our yesterdays and all our tomorrows, are held in His hands!”
F is for Family – December 2016 when all the offspring gathered in New Zealand. They are all well and blessed and doing what they enjoy to do and are good at!
G is for Gardening Gardening is just great! Planting, tending and watching how God makes it grow! New Zealanders love to cook, bake, eat and especially cultivate their own food! We have “toughened up”, as the Kiwis say, and have added growing vegetables to the list of favourite activities! I now know how to turn solid clay into soil that is soft as butter when you stick your fork into it! Soon we intend to have three vegetable boxes in the back garden and lots of vegetables to eat and share.
