Hang on to your hats- what a ride we are on! Where we are headed is anyone’s guess. We are in

unchartered water for sure. Who would have thought that the market would be where it is today just a few short

months ago. My thought is where we would be now if this market hadn’t climbed to the level that it is. With fuel

prices soaring and all the other inputs following along, I am not sure that we are any better off now than we were 6

months ago. I am not an economist so I may be off bases in my assumptions. It sure does look like it is a good time

to update your herd bull battery. With weigh up bulls hovering close to a $1 per cwt- that old bull will come close to

paying for 1/3 -1/2 the cost of a replacement. This is the time to turn over your genetics and update the bull battery!

With feed costs at the current levels, just reinforces the need for a complementary cross breeding program. As im-

portant as capturing efficiency is becoming, today’s rancher cannot afford to ignore heterosis and all it brings to the

table.For this reason we offer 2 purebred breeds – (Limousin and Red Angus) and hybred (LimFlex) crosses of these 2

breeds allowing our customers to tailor make genetics to fit their particular cowherds and production goals. Whether

it is producing replacement females that are higher percentage Red Angus or a 75% Limousin cross to fit into a lean

meat all natural program. Look to Limousin for increased red meat yield, feed efficiency, calving ease and longevity.

The Red Angus offers carcass quality, fleshing ability, and maternal traits. When combined these 2 breeds offer an

animal that is easy calving, muscular, efficient and very industry friendly in carcass quality and yield. I saw a figure

just the other day that a crossbred cow earns a additional $100 per year in revenue. This is quite a return considering

that you can achieve it for no extra cost. A word about our cowherd. We are basically a grass and cake outfit. We graze our cows as long as possible and

we usually feed less than 90 days of hay. We run on range with feeding cake to provide the extra protein needed

to balance our cow’s nutritional needs. This year we fed 2 pounds of 22% range cake per day. All our supplemental

feed is purchased so we try to get by on as little as possible.

A word about our bulls: We have a consulting nutritionist on staff that works with us on our bull rations. We feed

our bulls to grow muscle and not just put on pounds. Our

customers tell us how well our bulls hold their condition

during breeding. This is essential as we cannot afford to

feed bulls that fall apart due to being incorrectly fed. Nor

can you afford to buy bulls that do not hold their condition

or produce daughters that are hard doing and inefficient.

All cattle purchased through our “sight unseen program” are unconditionally guaranteed, if the cattle purchased for you on order are not what you expected, we don’t expect you to pay for them, no questions.

Terms – Terms of the sale are cash unless prior credit arrange-ments are established between buyer and seller. Settlements are to be made with the clerk immediately after the conclusion of the auc-tion.

Health – Health certificates and semen test certificates will be pro-vided with each lot sold.

Nutrition of the sale cattle – The bulls were fed and cared for by Royce Greder 402/722-4478. Bill Dicke of Cattlemen’s Nutrition Services LLC, Lincoln, NE 402/421-6767, formulated the rations used on the bulls. The bulls were fed a ration consisting of corn silage, modified wet distillers grains, cracked corn and a mixture of ground alfalfa, millet and meadow hay. The bulls were fed with soundness in mind and to develop them for trouble free use.

Sale Day Information – We will provide complete perfor-mance data on all cattle. (i.e. Scrotal, YW and Gain).

Announcements – Announcements made sale day will take precedent over printed material in the catalog. Please take note of any changes.

Liability – Each animal will be the buyer’s risk as soon as it is sold, but will be cared for by the seller for a reasonable period of time. Every precaution will be taken for the welfare of the cattle sold. Neither the owner nor sales manager can be responsible for accidents, but every effort will be made to provide for safety and comfort of those attending the sale.

Genetic Defects – Every animal in the Bullis Creek herd that has a known carrier in the first three generations has been tested for Osteopetrosis (OS). No known carriers will be offered for sale. All the sires in use at Bullis Creek have been tested OS free (OSF).

Health – All cattle have been vaccinated for Pasturella, IBR, BVD, PI 3, BRSV and poured with Ivermectin.

Analyzing PerformanceInformation

BW = Birth Weight – We take birth weights on our cattle in order to give you some method of determining calving ease. Larger calves will sometimes come very easy. We believe that calf structure determines calving ease along with size.WW = Weaning Weight – This is the weight of the cat-tle taken at weaning time adjusted to constant age of 205 days, and a good indication of early growth.ADG = Average Daily Gain – This will be provided on all bulls and forage gain ratio (FG/R) will be provided on all fall bulls. FB/R is the ratio based on the summer gain on grass. Like other ratios; 100 is average, below 100 is below and above 100 is above average.Ratios – Ratios are indicated behind WW and YW data show how each calf compares to its herd mates within a particular group. Ratios are only within herds, so a 100 (or average) ratio with the Bullis Creek Ranch herd is different than 100 in another herd.Dam Production – The first four numbers at the start of each footnote are the production averages of the dam of this lot. The first number is the birth weight ratio, second is an average wean ratio, third is an average yearling ra-tio and the fourth number is the current and most prob-able producing ability (MPPA).Carcass Data – We have ultra sounded all sale lots and the data has been turned into the breed associations.
