    Vision

MissionThe mission of the Florida Art Education Association is to promote art education in Florida

through professional development, service, advancement of knowledge, and leadership.

The vision of the Florida Art Education Association, hereinafter designated as FAEA or as the

Association, is to provide Florida visual art teachers with the knowledge, skills, and support that

will ensure the highest quality instruction possible to all students in Florida.

IIt is very exciting to be back in St. Pe-tersburg after a long absence. We are here to “Embrace, Engage, and Explore” art; not only how it affects us as individuals, but how it impacts education, culture and the

global economy. I welcome each and every

one of you to the 59th conference in FAEA

    history.

Your Board has worked very hard to

make this a conference you will be very

glad you attended. Sue Castleman and her

team of Pinellas County art teachers have

been burning the midnight oil for several

months. I believe you will appreciate the

work that has gone in to bringing you this

wonderful conference. There is so much to

do. I dare you to be idle at any time! St. Pe-

tersburg has many things to offer us. Please

take advantage of the museums, shops, and

eateries around the hotel and in the nearby

    vicinity.

We are proud to have as keynote speak-

ers at our General Sessions university art

educator Dr. Craig Roland and artist and

master teacher Ken Vieth. These individuals

will share both their educational expertise

and their immense talents through their

presentations. We encourage you to attend

both sessions. We will again showcase the

talents of our young artists through our

K-12 Visual Art Virtual Exhibition (well

over 1,600 pieces were entered this year)

and the second annual FAEA Member Vir-

tual Exhibition. Remember to take advan-

tage of the Artist Bazaar and definitely

stay Saturday evening to enjoy the “Surreal

    Ball”. Got your costume ready?

This conference promises to energize us

all. Let’s come together in a spirit of profes-

sional courtesy for one another, respectful

of each other’s needs and wants. Your FAEA

Board is here to help you as well as the many

volunteers who will assist you at registra-

tion and throughout the conference. We ap-

preciate your support in attending and we

sincerely appreciate those of you who have

given of your time to present workshops. It

is my wish that each of us leaves the confer-

ence this weekend with a feeling of fulfill-

ment, knowing these days were both useful

    and inspirational.

So, let’s EMBRACE, ENGAGE and defi-

nitely EXPLORE the many possibilities we

find ourselves in during this conference

    time!
