This family-oriented race encompasses running, biking, and canoeing on Denton’s Greenbelt. Begin with a 3.8-mile canoe trip down the Trinity River spillway, then complete a 2.5-mile run, and finally a 12-mile bike ride. Roll up your sleeping gear and hit the trail for a campout at Eureka! Playground in South Lakes Park. We will have a variety of fun activities such as a scavenger hunt, storytelling, and a marshmallow roast.

The fee includes dinner on Saturday night and a breakfast snack on Sunday morning. Children must preregister with an adult; the registration deadline is April 14. For an additional $10, you may reserve a tent and two sleeping bags. We have a limited number of tents and sleeping bags. canoeing triPJoin ACA and lifeguard-certified Denia staff on a two-day, overnight trip down the Brazos River with 30 miles of canoeing. The fee includes transportation, canoes, life jackets, paddles, a primitive camping site, all trail meals, and most camping equipment. The mandatory pretrip meeting for all participants and parents is at 7pm on March 9 at Denia Rec Center. We will leave Denia at 9am on Friday and return at 5pm on Saturday. Register by March 9. Fees include all activities, field trips, and supplies. If campers are not registered for the free lunch program, they must bring two snacks, drinks, and a lunch. The free lunch program is available on non-field trip days, June 6-August 12.

The first session must be paid in full upon registration. The $10 deposit (applied to fee) is required for all reserved sessions. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable; credits or refunds are not provided for days missed. For sessions paid in full, a one-week notice must be given to receive credit toward another session.

Field Trips!

king kids day kamP (ages 5-12)

monday-Friday, June 6-august 199am drop-off and 5pm pick-up at MLK Jr. Rec Center

Campers will experience field trips and activi-ties, including arts and crafts, games, sports, and swimming. Lunch is provided except on field trip days and the last week of camp.

eLigibiLityCampers must qualify by family income to par-ticipate in this free camp. Guardians, single or joint, must either be working full time, enrolled in a job training program, or enrolled full time in the summer school semester. Guardians must provide the following at registration: completed 2010 income tax forms for income verification, current pay stubs from one month, proof of residency within Denton city limits, and partici-pants’ birth certificates for age verification. Ad-ditional information on required documentation will be available at www.dentonparks.com registrationBeginning April 11, register in person at Denton Civic Center, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. nationaL Junior tennis (ages 8-16)

Denton Parks and Recreation offers a free, introductory tennis class. Participants must wear ath-letic shoes, no open-toe shoes.

MCMATH MIDDLE SCHOOL LittLe camPers (ages 3½-6) sessions 10 & 11 at denton civic centerLicensed by the Texas Dept. of Family and Protective Services, kids will enjoy a safe, day care-like setting with the fun atmosphere of a summer camp. Themed activities include field trips, swimming twice a week, games, arts and crafts, bounce houses, face painting, songs and dance, story time, and karaoke. Campers must be potty trained.

SKATEBOARD CAMPSThe camps provide everything participants need to know about skateboarding in a fast, fun environment. On the first day, skat-ers are assessed so lessons may be adapted to their abilities.

A parent must be present the first day to complete a waiver. Each day, participants need to bring a helmet, a skateboard, water, and a snack. Camps will meet daily, regardless of weath-er; the rain-out location is Denton Natatorium so participants also need to bring a swim suit, a towel, and sunscreen. The fee includes a T-shirt. Register by 1pm on Tuesdays at www.dentonparks.com or at Denton Civic Center. Scrambles cost $15/person for nine holes of play. The cart fee is to be paid upon check-in at Robson Ranch. Check in by 5:15pm; tee time is at 5:30pm. Gift certificates to Robson Ranch are awarded for the closest to the pin and for the longest drive. Prizes are also awarded for first and second place, and third place will be awarded if there are seven or more teams.

Pard goLF tournaments at robson ranchAwards are given for the closest to the pin, for the longest drive, and to first, second, and third place, pending enrollment. The fee includes green fees for 18 holes, souvenirs, use of the driving range, and a box lunch. On the day of the tournaments, except during the City Championship, mulligans will be available for $3 or $5/pair.

disc goLF course & tournaments Located at the corner of Bonnie Brae and Windsor, behind North Lakes Recreation Center, the course is free and open to the public daily from 6am-10pm on a first-come, first-serve basis; occasionally, the course will be closed for tournament play. Weighted discs are available for checkout at North Lakes Recreation Center with a $20 refundable deposit. The Parks and Recreation Department holds four major disc golf tournaments a year at the North Lakes Disc Golf Course. These are amateur team tournaments, and teams play 18 holes. The $215 package includes one hour in the party room or pavilion, admission to the water park, invitations, paper goods, cake, drinks, ice cream, souvenir picture, and a big squirt water toy for party child. The price is limited to 15 guests; each additional swimmer paysregular admission, but a group of ten or more guests may receive a group-rate discount; non-swimming guests pay $5 admission. Add pizza for $20.

civic center PooL, (940) 349-8806Civic Center Pool’s party package is available beginning May 28 during regularly-scheduled hours. The $110 package includes one hour under the shaded party area, invitations, paper goods, cake, drinks, all paper goods. The price is limited to 14 guests; each additional guest pays regular admis-sion. Add pizza for $25.
