When God says, “I will give you the Land,” He will do it! 10 of the 12 spies Moses sent to explore Canaan did not trust in the Word of the Lord. Instead, they returned saying, ‘it can’t be done’. (Numbers13 and 14) Incredibly only two spies, Joshua and Caleb, believed that with God’s help, ‘of course we can do it!’. Why did these two see the task so dif-ferently? I think their tribes did a good job of training up their youth.

That is what we are about; training people to hear and trust in the Word of the Lord so that they grow in character and confidence, winning new lands for the God, whether in India, Nepal, their university or their work place. The Lord is challenging us to stretch further into Sweden, Europe and the World, while still developing the Restenäs ministry and property. This stretch has led us to a renewed mission statement:

“Engaging and equipping people to act by bringing God’s truth to all peoples and societies: Sweden and beyond.”

With this also comes the visual identity of a tree. It is quite a flex-ible tree, ready for more leaves and branches. It is a tree with deep roots, able to break up the hardness of the soil of the earth and produces seeds that can multiply anywhere. Finally, it is a tree that can provide stability and the shade of protection.

If we think we can do it on our own, then our vision is most likely too small. God hands out dreams bigger than our shoes, skills and resources. God has given us a promise, and we have the faith to climb for it. What “mountain” is the Lord asking you to climb?

Thank you for standing with us in reaching up our mountains, and we hope to be an encouragement to you in climbing your own.

Gifts of Life

In January we hosted three concerts in Ljung-skile, Romelanda and Uddevalla, the proceeds going to a project in Nigeria working against human trafficking.   The entertainment for the evening was provided by an ensemble of university students from Seoul, South Korea. The 24 students gave excellent performances which included beautiful piano solos, tradi-tional Korean fan dances and choir renditions.

During the evenings Maria Svensson from Restenäs gave a short presentation and opened people’s eyes to the problem of hu-man trafficking. She told us about a little girl who grew up in Nigeria and was sold and forced into prostitution in Sweden. The of-ferings, 12,000 kr in total, were taken up for ‘MeCAHT Safe Home’ in Nigeria. The safe home is an initiative from YWAM Nigeria where they plan to house 30 women who have been traf-ficked and sent back to Nigeria. There they will be rehabilitated in both body and soul while learning skills so that they can earn money for themselves and their families.

The students also gave performances in Hönö, Oslo, Helsinki, Porvoo, Stockholm, Linköping and Malmö on their tour where they took up

Training Testimonies

People healed in Cambodia!“This past winter my DTS team went for out-reach to Cambodia. We worked for five days with an organisation in the countryside and every day we drove to different small villages and told the people there about God. Most of them have never heard about God before. After we would share with the people for about 20 minutes we would ask them if we could demonstrate Gods power and love for them by praying for all their sick. In the beginning not so many people came

forward, but after they saw that God was healing them, more and more people lined up to be prayed for. During these days about 80 – 90 peo-ple were healed! It was amaz-ing to see and almost unbe-lievable!One specific story was when an old lady came up and asked me to pray for her shoulders and arms. She could not raise her arms and had a lot of pain. When I laid my hand on her shoulder and slowly moved it to the other side, the woman shook a bit and looked a lit-tle confused. When I asked her later if she felt better, she said

that it felt warm and releasing when I laid my hand on her! It was so amazing for me to see that God used me personally, me a so normal person. This lady got completely healed and could raise her arms without any problems again. Later, when we were praying for other people, she continued to move her arms up and down the whole time, fascinated by what she could do.”

Laying Foundations “The School of Communication made me think about how I was going to put into motion all the great ideas I had about chang-ing the world. How was I going to reach my community, my nation, my world? SCF made me ask the hard questions and answer them. It laid a foundation that I could use wherever I go, whatever I do, because it gave me the skills I needed to actually reach people, not just dream about reaching them.”

Discipling the Nations

Last fall I staffed the first ever School of Strategic Missions (SOSM) in India. When curious locals would ask me what I did I answered that I worked with a community development school, which is exactly what an SOSM is about. We asked questions like: How does God want to change a community and how does He work? How can we be a part in this and how do we engage in long-term sustainable missions work?

The special thing about this SOSM was so often the teaching was put into action right away. During the second week of teaching, we heard about a man in town asking too many questions about the missionaries at the only local church. In this region there is a lot of suspicion against Christians and we had to be very careful. So instead of teaching about how to plant a church during persecution we divided the class into 4 groups to start their own house churches. The mix of Europeans, Indians and former Hindu students from varying backgrounds, made up for a quite diverse class. For some, India was one of many destinations they had been to, others had just started to dream about going to another

nation as a missionary. But we had one thing in common: we all wanted to use our gifts and lives for the purposes of God.

My new friends are now about to start church planting among un-reached peoples, a preschool in a village where education is often neglected, and a Christian Ashram (hindu name for spiritual center) for western seekers. Others will disciple young Indians and other nationalities to be radical followers of Jesus. The SOSM slogan sums it all up:  We are blessed to be a blessing!

Staff Spotlight

Emma Nilsson (Sweden) spent 3 months in Northern India late last year babysitting for the SOSM school leaders.

What was the purpose of your trip to India? Before I went to India I wanted to do some kind of sports ministry and I felt

like I needed to change from the ministry I had been working with. It turned out that an op-portunity actually came while I was there to start a sports ministry.

What was one struggle that you overcame and how did you get through it?Before I went to India, I struggled a lot with purpose or the meaning of life. Then, when I was in India I had a conversation with someone and it was just good to talk about these things. After that, I was inspired to just enjoy the small things in life and it became less of a struggle.
