  • 4Subject to the other terms and conditions of this limitedwarranty manual, Kia Motors America, Inc. (Kia)warrants that it will arrange for independent Kia brandservice facilities at locations of its choice to provide forthe repair of your vehicle if it fails to function properlyduring normal use. Such service facilities will remedysuch failures to function properly at KMAs expense, ifyou present your vehicle to such a service facility duringits normal operating hours, provide sufficientinformation to permit a proper identification anddiagnosis of the failure to function, and permit thefacility adequate time to perform the necessary repair.As this obligation is subject to the terms, conditions andlimitations of this Manual, you should refer to themanual to understand which repairs and replacementsare covered by this warranty. If an Authorized KiaDealer declines or fails to carry out a proper repair orreplacement of a factory installed part covered by thislimited warranty without charge to you, Kia will (a)determine if the repair or replacement requested by youis covered by this New Vehicle Limited Warranty and, ifso, (b) obtain cooperation from an Authorized KiaDealer to conduct such repair or replacement without

    charge to you. However, Kias obligation to do (a) and(b) requires you to contact the Kia Consumer AssistanceCenter and provide all materials needed by them to carryout those obligations to you. The Center can becontacted at the address or phone number provided inthe Kia Owner Satisfaction and Assistance Section ofthis manual, or can also be found at the Kia website athttp://www.kia.com. Parts replaced under any warranties in the Manualbecome the property of Kia.

    1. The Warranty PeriodThe New Vehicle Limited Warranty is divided intovarious warranty periods. For the purpose of allwarranties contained in this Manual(other thanwarranties on replacement parts or accessoriesinstalled after the Kia Vehicle was placed into use),the warranty period begins on the Date of FirstService. Date of First Service means the first datethe Kia Vehicle is delivered to the first retailpurchaser, is leased or is placed into service as acompany vehicle use (e.g., as a demonstrator, rental

  • 5or fleet vehicle), whichever is earliest. Moreover,whenever this manual refers to a warranty period ofmonths/miles, it means whichever comes first. Anyremaining portion of any warranty, except the 120month/100,000 mile Power Train (Original Owner)warranty, is fully transferable to subsequent owners.

    2. Warranty Coverage Basic Warranty Coverage

    Except as limited or excluded below, all componentsof your new Kia Vehicle are covered for 60months/60,000 miles from the Date of First Service,whichever comes first (Basic Limited WarrantyCoverage). This Warranty does not cover wear andmaintenance items, or those items excludedelsewhere in the Manual. See Exceptions andWhat is Not Covered.

    Power Train CoverageFor Original Owners (defined below), the PowerTrain Limited Warranty begins upon expiration of the60 month/60,000 mile Basic Limited Warranty

    Coverage, and will continue to cover the followingcomponents up to 120 months or 100,000 miles fromthe Date of First Service, whichever comes first. Itdoes not cover normal wear and tear, maintenance, orthose items excluded elsewhere in this manual. SeeExceptions and What is Not Covered.

    The items covered by the Power Train LimitedWarranty include:

    - In the Engine: Cylinder block, cylinder head andall internal parts, timing gear, seals and gaskets,valve cover, flywheel, oil pump, water pump.

    - In the Transaxle: Transmission case and allinternal parts, torque converter, drive shafts,universal joints, front hubs, bearings, seals andgaskets.

    - In the Axles: Axle shafts and C-V joints(couplings), seals, hub and wheel bearings.

    - In the Transmission: Transmission case, transfercase, torque converter and all internal parts, seals,and gaskets.

  • - In the Differentials: Front and rear differentialassemblies, cases, all internal parts, seals andgaskets.

    - In the Propeller Shafts: Drive shafts, universaljoints.

    Original Owner

    An Original Owner is defined as the first retailpurchaser or lessee of the Kia Vehicle who takesdelivery of the Kia Vehicle on its Date of FirstService. If the Kia Vehicle was first placed in serviceas a lease vehicle, and the lessee purchases thevehicle at the end of the lease, the 120month/100,000 mile Power Train Limited Warrantyremains in effect. The Power Train LimitedWarranty is not transferable to subsequent owners.

    Vehicles Placed in Commercial Service

    The 120 month/100,000 mile Power Train LimitedWarranty also excludes all coverage for any KiaVehicle that has been placed into any form ofcommercial service, including but not limited to taxi,route delivery, livery service, or rental.

    Adjustment CoverageService Adjustments are covered for the first 12months/12,000 miles. Service adjustments meansminor repairs not usually associated with thereplacement of parts, such as wheel balance andalignment, freeplay or tension adjustments of cables,belts, levers and pedals, engine adjustments (idlespeed, etc.), body parts and fittings.

    3. Exceptions The items specified below are covered for periodsdifferent from the basic coverage.

    Air Conditioner Refrigerant Charge

    Air conditioner refrigerant charge is covered for thefirst 12 months of the warranty period regardless ofmileage. Over the balance of the warranty period,refrigerant charge is covered only when replenishedas part of a warranty repair.

    Audio / Entertainment System

    An original equipment radio or compact disk player,OE DVD / RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment System) is

  • or navigation system covered for the first36months/36,000 miles.

    Battery

    The original equipment battery is covered by alimited warranty for a period of 24 months,regardless of mileage. During 24 months of thewarranty period, a defective battery will be replacedat no cost to you. Kia will cover diagnostic,installation and replacement battery costs.

    Kia will not reimburse you for any portion of thecost of a non-Kia replacement battery.

    Brake and Clutch Linings Brake linings, including pads and shoes, and clutchlinings are warranted for 12 months/12,000 miles,whichever comes first, if they fail to functionproperly during normal use. Brake linings aredesigned to wear out as part of the process ofstopping your vehicle safely and consistently whileproviding reasonable levels of noise and vibrationduring normal use. Brake or clutch linings functionproperly during normal even if they needreplacement in less than the full warranty period.

    Rather, most replacements at lower mileage arerequired by driver usage habits which can cause highrates of wear. In addition, brake lining wear issubstantially increased by environmental conditionssuch as exposure to road salt or due to regulardriving in stop and go rush hour traffic. The morewear factors which are present, the more rapid thewear. Resulting repairs and replacements of liningsare not covered by your warranty.

    Paint

    Paint repairs due to non-impact discoloration,fading, cracking, chipping, or flaking are covered forthe first 36 Months/36,000 miles.

    Seat Belt Warranty-KansasThe seat belts in Kia Vehicles originally sold in theState of Kansas are covered under the New VehicleLimited Warranty for a period of 10 years,regardless of mileage, when the repairs areperformed by an Authorized Kia Dealer in Kansas.

    4. Limited LiabilityLiability under this warranty is limited solely to therepair or replacement of factory installed parts ifthey fail to function properly during normal use.Such repair or replacement shall be carried out by anAuthorized Kia Dealer at its place of business. Thiswarranty does not include any other expense,including but limited to those for any replacementtransportation or for the loss of use of your Kiavehicle.

    Damage due to Factors Beyond the ManufacturersControl.Examples of these factors include, but are not limited to: Misuse of your Kia Vehicle such as driving over

    curbs, or other hazardous objects or road structuresor into roadway maintenance or construction areas,overloading the vehicle, racing or engaging inactivities or uses not described in your ownersmanual or in Kias product literature.

    Accidents and incidents that damage your Kiavehicle including but not limited to collision, fire,theft, riot.

    Alteration, modification, tampering, rewiring. Damage or corrosion from the environment such as

    acid rain, airborne fallout (chemicals, tree sap, etc.),road salt, hail, wind storm, lightning, floods and actsof God. This limitation also includes damage tovehicle assemblies such as brakes and suspension.

    Changes to vehicle appearance caused by normaluse and exposure, corrosion to underlying metal

    when paint integrity is not consistently maintained. Customer induced damage caused by fluid spills,

    burns in carpet, seats, trim or other damage that isnot considered a defeat in material or workmanship.

    Window glass that is broken, chipped, scratched ordamage from outside influence is not considered adefeat in material or workmanship

    Paint or vehicle finish damage caused by applyingchemicals to the paint surface

    Damage caused by installing incorrect tires(size etc) Damage caused by the installation of any part that is

    not equal to the OE part in quality of material orworkmanship

    Damage due to Lack of Maintenance or the Use ofWrong Fuel, Oil or Lubricants. Improper maintenance or the use of other than the

    specified fuel, oil or lubricants recommended inyour Owners Manual. It is your obligation to ensurethat you obtain all fuels, oils and lubricants fromreliable vendors using quality products which meetthe Kia specifications identified in your Owners

    Manual. In the event that problems result to yourvehicle due to service from vendors who usereduced quality products, your vehicle warrantieswill not provide coverage.

    Damaged brake rotors and drums resulting fromfailing to replace brake pads and/or shoes beforethey have worn sufficiently to damage such rotorsand drums. It is your obligation to ensure adequateinspections to prevent rotor and drum damage due topad/shoe wear.

    Manufacturer Design Choices The choices made in designing your vehicle,

    including the materials chosen for parts andcomponents.

    Note: A material is not defective or underperformingunder your warranty because a better, stronger, moredurable or more suitable material could have beenused.

    Note: All vehicle dimensions and measurements aremade solely at the discretion of the manufacturerand are not warranted to be suitable for you oranyone else who uses your vehicle.

    Normal Deterioration Replacement or repair of parts intended to wear

    including the friction wear parts of the brakes,including brake pads and shoes, spark plugs, belts,clutch linings, filters, wiper blades, bulbs, fuses, andother wear and consumable items.

    Surface corrosion on any part other than the bodysheet metal panels forming the exterior appearanceof a Kia Vehicle.

    Normal Maintenance Normal maintenance services such as: cleaning and

    polishing, minor adjustments, lubrication, oil/fluidchanges, filters, anti- freeze coolant replenishment,wheel alignment and tire rotation unless such servicesare performed as part of a covered warrantable repair.

    Normal maintenance items including but not limitedto spark plugs, engine belts, filters, wiper blades, andbulbs are not warranted. However, as a matter ofpolicy, Kia will repair or replace such maintenanceitems of a new vehicle during the vehicles initialownership period, but only up to the first serviceinterval or 12 months/12,000 miles, whichevercomes first.

    Maintenance Services, Owner MaintenanceServices or Appearance Care in your OwnersManual.

    Altered Mileage Any repair of a Kia Vehicle on which the odometer

    has been altered or on which the actual mileagecannot be reasonably determined.

    (When replacing the speedometer, the Speedo-meter Replacement Record on the inside frontcover of this manual must be filled in by anAuthorized Kia Dealer).

    Extra Expenses and Damages Any economic loss or other incidental, special,

    consequential, or exemplary damages. This includes,without limitation, payment for loss of use of theKia Vehicle, lodging, car rentals, travel costs, loss ofpay and any other expenses or damages.

    Tires Tires are warranted by the tire manufacturers and not

    by Kia. Refer to the tire warranty pamphletsprovided with your Kia Vehicle for details.

    Salvage or Total-Loss Vehicles Any Kia Vehicle that has ever been or should have

    been issued a salvage title or similarbrandedtitle under any states law; or has beendeclared a total loss or equivalent by a financialinstitution or insurance company. This exclusiondoes not apply to Emission Warranties, ReplacementParts Limited Warranty or any recalls or campaigns.

    Production Changes Kia and its Authorized Kia Dealers reserve the right

    to make changes in vehicles built and/or sold by Kiaand its Authorized Kia Dealers at any time withoutincurring any obligation to make the same or similarchanges on vehicles previously built and/or sold.

    MaintenanceYou are responsible for properly operating andmaintaining your Kia Vehicle in accordance with theinstructions described in your Owners Manual. If yourvehicle is used under severe driving conditions, youmust follow the maintenance requirements described inyour Owners Manual for severe driving conditions inorder to maintain your warranties.

    Maintenance RecordsYou should retain maintenance records since it may benecessary in some instances for you to prove that therequired maintenance has been performed. TheScheduled Maintenance Record beginning on page 40should be filled in when regular maintenance isperformed. Keep all receipts and make them available incase questions rise about the services requested andprovided.

    To Get Warranty ServiceYou must take your Kia Vehicle, along with this manual,to an Authorized Kia Dealer in the United States duringits normal service hours. While any Authorized KiaDealer will perform warranty service, Kia recommendsthat when possible you return to the dealership whereyou purchased your Kia Vehicle in order to ensurecontinuity in service and maintenance. If you have anyquestions or need assistance regarding this warranty,refer to When You Need to Talk to Kia starting onpage 45.

    Other TermsThis warranty is applicable to Kia Vehicles registeredand normally operated in the United States.

    Service and Maintenance Outside the UnitedStatesIf you are going to be driving outside the United States,it is important that you contact us at (800) 333-4542 inorder to determine what service and warranty coverageis available in the area you will be travelling.

    Some states do not allow limitations on how long animplied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation ofincidental or consequential damages, so the abovelimitations or exclusion may not apply to you.

    This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and youmay have other rights which vary from state to state.

  • Subject to the other terms and conditions of this limitedwarranty manual, Kia Motors America, Inc. However,Kias obligation to do (a) and (b) requires you to contact theKia Consumer Assistance Center and provide all materialsneeded by them to carry out those obligations to you. The

    Center can be contacted at the address or phone numberprovided in the Kia Owner Satisfaction and AssistanceSection of this manual, or can also be found at the Kiawebsite at http://www.kia.com. 1. Warranty Period

    The warranty period is for the first 60 month/100,000miles from the date of first retail delivery or when it isfirst put into service, whichever comes first.

    2. What is Not Covered Any perforation due to corrosion of the Kia Vehicle

    which is caused by industrial fallout, accident,damage, abuse, vehicle modifications or damagingor corrosive cargo in the Kia Vehicle.

    Any surface corrosion of the Kia Vehicle whichdoes not result in perforation, such as that causedtypically by sand, salt, hail or stones.

    Any perforation due to corrosion of a part of the KiaVehicle which is not a body sheet metal panel. Asused herein, body sheet metal panel specificallyexcludes all parts which are components of theexhaust system of the Kia Vehicle.

    Defects or damage resulting from the use of partsnot sold or approved by Kia including the resultantdamage to associated parts or systems.

    arranty Any perforation due to corrosion of the Kia Vehicle

    caused in whole or in part by a failure to maintainthe Kia Vehicle in accordance with the proceduresspecified in paragraph 3. Your Responsibilities

    3. Your ResponsibilitiesInspect the body sheet metal panels of your Kia Vehicleon a regular basis (at least monthly) to detect any chipsor scratches in the paint or protective coating and torepair them immediately.Special care should be taken to protect your Kia Vehiclefrom corrosion under the following conditions: If you drive on salted roads, or if you drive near the

    ocean, flush the underbody as needed, and at leastweekly with clean unsalted water.

    It is important to keep the drain holes in the loweredges of the body clear.

    If your Kia Vehicle is damaged due to an accident orany event which may cause damage to the paint,have your Kia Vehicle repaired as soon as possible.

    If you carry special cargo, such as chemicals,fertilizers, deicing salt, or other corrosive substances,be sure that such materials are well packaged andsealed. Any leakage of such materials will void thiswarranty where the leakage has occurred.

    If you drive frequently on gravel roads, we

    recommend that you install stone guards behindeach wheel.

    4. To Get Warranty ServiceYou must take your Kia Vehicle, along with thismanual, to any Authorized Kia Dealer in the UnitedStates during its normal service hours.If you have any questions or need assistance regardingthis warranty, refer to the When You Need to Talk toKia starting on Page 45.

    5. Limited LiabilityLiability under this warranty is limited solely to therepair or replacement of factory installed parts that failsto function properly. Such repair or replacement shall becarried out by an Authorized Kia Dealer at its place ofbusiness. This warranty does not include any otherexpense, including but not limited to those for anyreplacement transportation or for the loss of use of yourKia vehicle.

    6. Other TermsThe Other Terms stated on page 12 in the NewVehicle Limited Warranty section of this manual alsoapply to this warranty.

    (a) EPA means the U.S. Environmental ProtectionAgency.

    (b) Owner means the original and each subsequentowner of a Kia Vehicle.

    (c) Kia Part means a part sold by an AuthorizedKia Dealer, whether new or remanufactured,and supplied by Kia.

    (d) Emission Warranty Part means a catalyticconverter, thermal reactor, or other componentinstalled on or in a Kia Vehicle by or at thedirection of Kia for the sole or primary purposeof reducing the Kia Vehicles emissions (notincluding those vehicle components whichwere in general use prior to model year 1968and the primary function of which is not relatedto emission control). A list of typical EmissionWarranty Parts is set forth at the end of thiswarranty.

    (e) Certified Part means a replacement part for aKia Vehicle certified in accordance with aftermarket part certification regulations issued bythe EPA.

    Vehicles Equipped with a California CertifiedEmission Control System and registered or normallyoperated in the State of California or any other state*that adopts California emission warranty provisionare also entitled to the California EmissionWarranty. (See Page 27 of this Manual). *California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts,Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon,Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont,Washington.

    Kia Motors America, Inc. warrants to the ultimatepurchaser, and each subsequent purchaser, that your KiaVehicle is (1) designed, built, and equipped so as toconform at the time of sale with the applicable regulationsof the United States Environmental Protection Agency(the EPA), and (2) free from defects in materials andworkmanship which would cause it to fail to conformwith the applicable regulations for a period of vehicleoperation that does not exceed 24 months or 24,000 miles,whichever occurs first, if the failed Emission WarrantyPart is listed in the 24 Month/24,000 Mile EmissionWarranty Parts List at the end of this Federal EmissionControl Warranty or for a period of vehicle operation thatdoes not exceed 96 months or 80,000 miles, whichever

    occurs first, if the failed Emission Warranty Part is listedin the 96 Month/80,000 Mile Emission Warranty PartsList at the end of this Federal Emission Control Warranty.The applicable warranty period shall begin on either thedate the Kia Vehicle is sold to the first retail owner, or onthe date the Kia Vehicle is first placed in service (forexample if used as a demonstrator, lease, or company car),whichever is earlier. If there should be such defects withinthis period, Kia will, at its option, repair or replace themwith new or remanufactured parts, free of charge at anAuthorized Kia Dealer in the United States and theliability of Kia under this warranty is solely limited tosuch repair or replacement.

    This warranty does not apply to or include repair orreplacement required, not as a result of defects inmaterials or workmanship of Kia but, as a result of suchfactors as (i) accidents, (ii) misuses, (iii) lack of propermaintenance, (iv) repairs improperly performed orreplacements improperly installed by any person otherthan a Kia Dealer, (v) a replacement part or accessory notconforming to the Kia specifications, or (vi) any of theitems listed under What is Not Covered in the NewVehicle Limited Warranty on pages 9-11 and Other ItemsNot Covered by this Warranty on page 22 of this manual.

    Emission Defect Warranty

    Important Notice:This warranty has been prepared in accordance withcertain regulations promulgated by the EPA whichprovide that a remedy will be available under thiswarranty only when a vehicle fails an EPA approvedemission short test, generally under circumstances whichsubject the Owner to a penalty under local, state orfederal law because of such failure. As of the date of theprinting of this warranty, many states did not havevehicle inspection programs for testing vehicles forconformity with such short test and had not enacted lawssubjecting vehicle Owners to such penalties. Therefore,it is possible that in many states or local areas no remedywill be available under this warranty as a matter of law.

    1. Warranty

    Pursuant to Section 207 (b) of the Clean Air Act,Kia warrants to each Owner that if: (a) The Kia Vehicle is maintained and operated in

    accordance with the Written MaintenanceInstructions; and

    (b) The Kia Vehicle fails to conform at any timeduring the term of this warranty to the

    applicable emission standards of the EPA, asjudged by an emission test approved by theEPA; and

    (c) Such nonconformity results or will result in theOwner having to bear any penalty or othersanction (including the denial of the right to usethe Kia Vehicle) under local, state or Federallaw, Kia shall remedy the nonconformity at nocost to Owner except that if the Kia Vehicle hasbeen in operation for more than 24,000 miles or24 months since the date of retail delivery orfirst use of the Kia Vehicle, Kia shall berequired to remedy the nonconformity only if itresults from the failure of an EmissionWarranty Part listed on the 96 Month/80,000Mile Emission Warranty Parts List.

    2. Term of Warranty

    This warranty shall commence on either the date theKia Vehicle is sold to the first retail delivery or owner,or on the date the Kia Vehicle is first placed in service(for example, a demonstrator, lease, or company caruse), whichever is earlier. This warranty shall beeffective for a period 2 years or 24,000 miles

  • from such date, whichever occurs first, except that ifthe failure to conform to applicable emissionstandards results from the failure of a part listed onthe 96 Month/80,000 Mile Emission Warranty PartsList at the end of this Federal Emission ControlWarranty, this warranty shall be effective for aperiod of vehicle operation that does not exceed 96months or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

    3. Owners Warranty ResponsibilitiesEach Owner is required to comply with the WrittenMaintenance Instructions and a claim under thiswarranty may be denied on the basis ofnoncompliance by the Owner with such instructions.If and when it is considered that the vehiclesnonconformity with the applicable emissionstandards has resulted from the Ownersnoncompliance with those Written MaintenanceInstructions which the manufacturer considersnecessary for the vehicle to meet the standards, theOwner may be required to submit evidence of suchcompliance, and therefore, receipts and otherdocuments covering the performance of scheduledMaintenance Service and proper use in accordancewith the Written Maintenance Instructions,

    including but not limited to validated ScheduledMaintenance Record of this manual, should beretained by the Owner and should be transferred toeach subsequent Owner of the Kia Vehicle.

    4. Use of Kia PartsThe Kia Vehicle is designed, built and tested usingKia Parts so that the Kia Vehicle is able to performin conformity with EPA regulations as provided bythis warranty. Accordingly, it is recommended thatany replacement parts used for maintenance, repairor replacement of the Kia Vehicle be Kia Parts, orparts equivalent to those with which the Kia Vehicleor its engine was originally equipped.

    5. Use of Non-Kia PartsOwner may elect to use Certified Parts other thanKia Parts in the performance of any maintenance orrepairs and such use in itself will not invalidate thiswarranty. However, use of other than Kia Parts maycause Kia to deny an Emission PerformanceWarranty claim if the Certified Part used is eitherdefective in materials or workmanship or notequivalent from an emission standpoint to Kia Parts.

    6. Repair or Replacement by an Authorized KiaDealer

    Your Kia Dealer shall make all adjustments, repairsor replacements necessary to assure the Kia Vehiclecomplies with applicable emission standards of theEPA and that the Kia Vehicle will continue tocomply during the remainder of the term of thiswarranty (if proper maintenance and operation arecontinued).

    7. Warranty Claim ProceduresA warranty claim may be submitted by presentingthe Kia Vehicle to any Authorized Kia Dealer duringthe Authorized Kia Dealers regular business hours,together with a copy of a failed emissions test. Uponpresentation of a claim, Kia shall notify the Ownerwithin 30 days, or such shorter period of time withinwhich repair is required by local, state or federallaw, that the claim will be honored or shall providethe Owner in writing with an explanation of thebasis upon which the claim is being denied.

    Failure to notify the Owner within such time periodshall cause Kia to be responsible for repairing the

    Kia Vehicle free of charge to the Owner, unless suchfailure is attributable to the Owner or to eventsbeyond the control of Kia or the Authorized KiaDealer.

    8. Maintenance by Other Than an Authorized KiaDealer

    Maintenance, replacement, or repair of the emissioncontrol devices and systems covered by thiswarranty may be performed by any automotiverepair establishment or individual using CertifiedParts. However, such non-Kia Certified Parts willnot be covered by Kias emission system warrantiesshould such parts fail at a later date.

  • 10. Other Items Not Covered by This WarrantyIn addition to the above provisions, this warrantydoes not cover the following:

    (a) Damage resulting from such factors asaccidents, acts of nature or events beyond thecontrol of Kia.

    (b) Any economic loss, incidental, special,consequential, or exemplary damages (whetherin contract or tort), including, but not limited to,loss of time, inconvenience, loss of use of theKia Vehicle, cost of transporting the Kia Vehicleto an Authorized Kia Dealer or other repairestablishment for repair or service, lodging, carrentals, travel costs, loss of pay and any otherexpenses or damages.

    (c) Any repair of a Kia Vehicle on which theodometer mileage has been altered or on whichthe actual mileage cannot be readily determined.

    (When replacing the speedometer, theSpeedometer Replacement Record on theinside front cover must be filled in by anAuthorized Kia Dealer or any repairestablishment utilizing Certified Parts.) This warranty is given in lieu of all otherexpress or implied warranties (except those setforth separately in this manual) on the part ofKia Motors America Inc. or the Authorized KiaDealer selling the Kia Vehicle. No dealer, or anyagent or employee thereof, or any other person,is authorized to extend or enlarge this warranty.

    The California Air Resources Board and Kia MotorsAmerica, Inc., are pleased to explain the emissioncontrol system warranty on your 2011 Kia vehicle. InCalifornia, new motor vehicles must be designed, builtand equipped to meet the States stringent anti-smogstandards. Kia must warrant the emission controlsystem on your Kia vehicle for the periods of timelisted below provided there has been no abuse, neglector improper maintenance of your Kia vehicle.Your emission control system may include parts suchas the carburetor or fuel-injection system, the ignitionsystem, catalytic converter, and engine computer. Alsoincluded may be hoses, belts, connectors and otheremission-related assemblies. Where a warrantablecondition exists, Kia will repair your Kia vehicle at nocost to you including diagnosis, parts and labor.

    Manufacturers Warranty Coverage

    For 3 years or 50,000 miles, whichever first occurs:1. If your Kia vehicle fails a Smog Check inspection,

    all necessary repairs and adjustments will be madeby Kia to ensure that your vehicle passes theinspection. This is your emission control systemPERFORMANCE WARRANTY.

    Owners Warranty ResponsibilitiesAs the Kia vehicle owner, you are responsible for theperformance of the required maintenance listed in yourowners manual. Kia recommends that you retain allreceipts covering maintenance on your vehicle but Kiacannot deny warranty solely for the lack of receipts orfor your failure to ensure the performance of allscheduled maintenance.

    You are responsible for presenting your Kia vehicle to aKia dealer as soon as a problem exists. The warrantyrepairs should be completed in a reasonable amount oftime, not to exceed 30 days.

    Warranty ServiceTo obtain warranty service, return the vehicle to anyauthorized Kia dealer. Service will be performed withoutcharge for diagnosis, parts and labor. In case ofemergency, see Emergency Service Instructions.

    ExclusionsThis warranty does not apply to failures caused by abuse,tampering or lack of maintenance; or to any vehicle onwhich the odometer mileage has been altered so that thevehicles actual mileage cannot be determined.

    STATEMENT OF OWNERS RIGHTS ANDOBLIGATIONSWhat Is Covered By The WarrantyIf a vehicle fails a state Smog Check test during thecoverage period, Kia will repair the vehicle so that it willpass a state Smog Check retest. The owner should take thevehicle to any authorized dealer for Warranty repairs andpresent a copy of the failed Smog Check test report to thedealer. If the owner is not notified within 30 days that aperformance warranty claim is not valid then themanufacture is required to repair the vehicle free of charge.

    In addition, if a warranted part fails because of a defect,Kia will repair or replace it at any authorized Kia dealer.Any other parts damaged by the failure of a warrantedpart will also be repaired or replaced. The repair and/orreplacement will be made at no charge to the owner forparts, labor and diagnosis. For emergency situations, seethe instructions under Emergency Service.     What The Owner Must DoIt is your responsibility to perform the requiredmaintenance and use the vehicle in accordance withKias written instructions. Warranty coverage will not bedenied solely because there is no record of maintenance.However, failures caused by lack of requiredmaintenance are not covered by the warranty. To avoidquestions as to whether the vehicle maintenance hasbeen performed, Kia urges that you retain all receiptsand/or maintenance records indicating that service hasbeen performed on the vehicle and these documentsshould be transferred to any subsequent owner of thevehicle.

(When the Owner replaces the speedometeror has it replaced by a repair facility, then theSpeedometer Replacement Record on the inside frontcover must be filled in by an Authorized Kia Dealer.) Loss or damage to personal property, loss of revenue,commercial loss or other matter not specificallyincluded.

    Emergency ServiceIf emergency Emission Control System Warranty serviceis required and the owner is unable to readily locate anauthorized Kia dealer or if a warranted part is notavailable within 30 days, then, repairs may be performedat any available service establishment, or by the owner,using any replacement part. Kia will reimburse theowner for the owners expenses including diagnostic

    charges for such emergency repair or replacement atKias suggested retail price for all warranted partsreplaced and labor charges based on Kias recommendedtime allowance for the warranty repair and thegeographically appropriate hourly labor rate. Replacedparts and copies of paid original receipts must beavailable for presentation to Kia as a condition ofreimbursement for these emergency repairs.     Subject to the other terms and conditions of this limitedwarranty manual, Kia Motors America, Inc. (Kia)warrants that it will arrange for independent Kia brandservice facilities at locations of its choice to provide forthe repair of your vehicle if it fails to function properlyduring normal use. Such service facilities will remedysuch failures to function properly at KMAs expense, ifyou present your vehicle to such a service facility duringits normal operating hours, provide sufficientinformation to permit a proper identification anddiagnosis of the failure to function, and permit thefacility adequate time to perform the necessary repair.As this obligation is subject to the terms, conditions andlimitations of this Manual, you should refer to themanual to understand which repairs and replacementsare covered by this warranty. If an Authorized KiaDealer declines or fails to carry out a proper repair orreplacement of a factory installed part covered by thislimited warranty without charge to you, Kia will (a)determine if the repair or replacement requested by youis covered by Replacement Parts and AccessoriesLimited Warranty and, if so, (b) obtain cooperation froman Authorized Kia Dealer to conduct such repair or

    replacement without charge to you. However, Kiasobligation to do (a) and (b) requires you to contact theKia Consumer Assistance Center and provide allmaterials needed by them to carry out those obligationsto you.     Replacement Kia Battery

    This warranty applies only to Kia Genuinereplacement batteries purchased from anAuthorized Kia Dealer in the United States. KiaGenuine replacement batteries are covered by alimited warranty for the period of 36 monthsfrom the date of installation, regardless ofmileage. During the first 12 months of thewarranty period a defective Kia replacementbattery will be replaced at no charge for the newbattery, labor or installation. If a Kia replacementbattery fails during the last 24 months of the 36-month warranty period, you will receive a pro-

    AccessoriesA Kia Genuine accessory installed by Kia or anAuthorized Kia Dealer on a new vehicle at thetime of, or prior to the vehicles date of deliveryto the original retail purchaser, or the date thevehicle is first put into service, is covered underthe New Vehicle Limited Warranty and is limitedto 60 months from the date of original retaildelivery date of first use, or 60,000 miles,whichever occurs first.A Kia Genuine accessory installed by anAuthorized Kia Dealer after the vehicle wasdelivered to the original retail purchaser or firstput into service shall be warranted for the greater(1)the duration of the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty or (2)12 months or 12,000 miles fromthe date of purchase or installation.Kia Genuine AM/FM Radios, satellite radios,CD players or other audio equipment purchasedafter the vehicle is first put into service arecovered for 12 months/unlimited miles.     Damage or surface corrosion from environmentsuch as acid rain, airborne fallout (chemicals, treesap), stones, salt, road hazards, hail, wind storm,lightning, floods and other acts of God.

    Normal wear, tear or deterioration such asdiscoloration, fading, deformation, etc.

    Air conditioner refrigerant charge after the first12 months, unless replenished as part of awarranty repair.

    Replacement parts or accessories installed on aKia Vehicle in which the odometer has beenaltered, or on which the actual mileage cannot bereadily determined.

    The undersigned Dealer wants you to know that at the time your new Kia Vehicle is being delivered:

    1. Based upon written notification furnished by the manufacturer, we have knowledge that this Kia Vehicle is covered by an Environmental ProtectionAgency (EPA) Certificate of Conformity.

    2. We have made a visual inspection. This inspection is limited to those emission control devices or portions thereof which are visible without removal oradjustment of any vehicle component or system of the Kia Vehicle, whether emissions related or otherwise. Based upon such visual inspection, there areno apparent deficiencies in the installation of emission control devices by the manufacturer. (Emission control device is limited to all devices installedon a Kia Vehicle for the sole or primary purpose of controlling Kia Vehicles emissions which were not in general use prior to 1968.)

    3. We have performed all emission control system preparation required by the manufacturer prior to the sale of the Kia Vehicle, as set forth in the currentpre-delivery service manual provided by the manufacturer.

    4. Except as may be provided in Paragraph 5 below, the Kia Vehicle warrantor shall remedy free of charge to the customer, under terms of the warrantorsemission performance warranty, if this Kia Vehicle fails to pass an EPA-approved emission test under BOTH of the following conditions:

    a. If such test is prior to the expiration of three months or 4,000 miles (whichever comes first) from date or mileage at time of delivery to theultimate buyer.

    b. If the Kia Vehicle has been maintained and used in accordance with the manufacturers written instructions for proper maintenance and use.

    When you need to talk to Kia and Roadside AssistanceThis section contains information about Kias RoadsideAssistance Program, contacting Kia Motors Americaand the BBB AUTO LINE. Please review theprocedures on the next few pages. They are provided tohelp resolve any concerns you may have with yourvehicle or dealership. Feel free to contact us at any time.

    Also included are basic requirements established by yourstate regarding Lemon Laws for your reference.

    ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

    As an added customer benefit, Roadside Assistance isprovided on all new 2011 model Kia Vehicles from thedate the vehicle is delivered to the first retail buyer orotherwise put into use (in-service date), whichever isearlier, for a period of 60 months or 60,000 miles,whichever is earlier, subject to the terms, conditions andexclusions set forth in this manual.

    More information regarding the services available underKias Roadside Assistance program is available in yourKia Vehicles Owners Manual. These services

    generally include: Towing to the nearest authorized Kia dealer or an

    alternative service location in the event of awarranty-related disablement

    Out of gas assistance (out of gas assistance is limitedto a maximum of 2 times per year and a maximumof 2 gallons of gasoline)*

    Flat tire assistance* Jump start assistance* Lock-out assistance* (excludes reimbursement for

    replacement of any missing, lost or damaged keys) Trip interruption expense benefits in the event a

    warranty-related disablement occurs more than 150miles from home and the repairs require more than24 hours to complete (limited to $100 per day for amaximum of 3 days per incident) NOTE: Fleetvehicles are excluded from reimbursement underKias Trip Interruption Policy.

    * Roadside Services are limited to a maximum of $75per occurrence.

    Kias toll free Roadside Assistance hot line is staffed 24hours a day, 365 days a year and is accessible by dialing1-800-333-4Kia (4542). Please note that you mustprovide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) toverify coverage at the time of your call. The VIN can befound on the dash of your vehicle on the drivers side, onthe door jamb of the drivers door, your vehiclesregistration or proof of insurance card.

    Kia Motors America reserves the right to limit or denyservices or other benefits to any owner or driver when,in Kia Motors America's judgment, the claims and/orservice requests are excessive in frequency or type ofoccurrence.

    The following is not covered under RoadsideAssistance:

    Any Kia vehicle that has ever been or should beissued a Salvage title or similar "branded" titleunder any state's law or has been declared a "totalloss" or equivalent by a financial institution orinsurance company.

    Consumer Affairs Procedures

    The purpose of the AUTO LINE is to settle disputes between vehicle manufacturers and customers. The AUTO LINEstaff will record the details of your concern by telephone and will ask for the same information as in Step 2.

    The AUTO LINE program consists of two parts - mediation and arbitration. The BBB AUTO LINE staff will providesuggestions for resolving the problem during mediation. If a satisfactory resolution has not been achieved duringmediation, you will have the opportunity to present your case personally before an impartial person or three personpanel. This is the arbitration part of AUTO LINE. The arbitrator(s) will make a decision after the arbitration hearing.If you accept the decision, it will be legally binding on you and Kia. However, in some states, if the decision is notaccepted, it may be introduced either by you or Kia as evidence in subsequent court action. Disputes handled throughthe BBB Auto Line process are usually resolved within 40 days of your contacting the BBB. If you have not contactedKia Motors America, Inc. first regarding your complaint, the arbitration process will take no longer than 47 days.

    You must use BBB AUTO LINE prior to seeking remedies available to you through a court action pursuant to theMagnuson-Moss Warranty Act (the ACT). In addition, you must use BBB AUTO LINE if you are required to do soprior to seeking remedies available under the Lemon Law of your state. However, your state law permits and if youchoose to seek remedies which are not created by the Act, you are not required to use BBB AUTO LINE, although thatoption is still available to you. The following section has been developed with information on contacting Kia and onthe basic provisions of your States Lemon Laws. In some states, your Kia dealership may provide you with LemonLaw disclosure information in addition to the booklet in accordance with state law. Other states may have their ownstate-operated complaint resolution processes. Your eligibility for this program is determined by your vehicles age,mileage and other contributing factors.
