Boxing Day Muller

Thanks to Angel Food Bakery for the cup cakes and the Secretary for stealing them

The Boxing day Gnomes

New Year’s Day FreezerReport from the Secretary

We started out in 2012 as we planned to go on with a disappointing turn-out

5 were there at 9 so we were about to cancel .... until Cooky showed up at 5 past, so 3 a side it was, the bastard.

Dick, Fridge and Cooky saw off Hilly, Dave Heywood and Simo in a close but decidedly stop-start game of four quarters.

It was great fun, with plenty of whinging about all the lazy sods who couldn’t even be bothered.

Bombay Bowl

Decidedly biased report from the Secretary

In a close and hard fought game Scotland were leading by two tries with a minute to go when the English offered them that classic dodderers get-out "next try wins it".

In a fit of generosity this was accepted - only for Scottish hopes to be dashed as England crossed to take the bowl.

Easter MondayDespite fears of a Bank Holiday drop in attendance - Easter Sunday proved to be a record breaking day in more ways than one! More than enough for four teams with the biggest turn-out for many months - 28, the most teenagers - 8, and the most women - 4! We also had an Oxford U21 Blue and next season's Captain of Pate's Grammar School 1st XV! To cap it all Tony Smith made his comeback following the first broken leg at Doddery! Welcome back Tony! Pity your chauffeur Ben Creese pulled a muscle and had to go off after 10 minutes - he may be able to play 80 minutes of local rugby but clearly can't cope with the extra pace and pressure of Doddery!

Champagne moment was a toss up between Gavin Dive's magnificent one handed mid air diving take of a pass from the President (natch), or Nicola Foster's magnificent catch of a 30 yard "bullet" spin pass from Pate's Captain elect Max. As Nicky's catch was followed by a 40 run in for a try she deservedly takes the trophy! Her Dad will present it in due course

Indian Summer Tournament

With thanks to:

Toby Hill - for organising the event as part of his P.E. GCSE project.

The assembled Dods - who managed to suppress their giggles during Toby's videoed pre-tournament "risk assessment" speech - when he announced the Fire precautions as the rain pelted down

Toby's Mum - who braved the elements to be the first qualified First Aider to attend a Dods tournament.

Foz - for hosting the post tournament BBQ at the surf shack - the six who turned up showed that the Dods’ Bulldog spirit is alive and well
