What we are hearing from our customers
Operations Teams
How can I accelerate my application release cycle in an optimized fashion and in a quality fashion?
How can I improve my resource utilization, simplify administration and reduce cost?
How can I improve responsiveness and drive
productivity and efficiency while maintaining stringent qualities
of service?
5
Companies need an affordable entry point for cloud
Customer goals:
• Provide agile service delivery that caters to changing business needs.
• We know virtualization helps reduce capital expense but how do I control my operational cost?
• Need to increase the performance, utilization, reliability and scalability of IT resources while reducing IT complexity
• Ability to expand capabilities
VISIBILITY CONTROL AUTOMATIONSee services in real time &
better predict business outcomes
Better manage assets, service & compliance.
Achieve greater efficiency and service quality
Organizations need a low-cost, low-risk entry to cloud computing technology with compelling features that achieves their business goals.

Build a low-touch, highly scalable cloud with IBM Service Agility Accelerator for Cloud
Key benefits:
Rapid scalable deployment designed to meet business growth with near-instant deployment of 100s of virtual machines
Reliable, non-stop cloud capable of automatically tolerating and recovering from software and hardware failures
Save IT labor resources at scale by enabling self-service request and highly automated operations
Reduce complexity through ease of use and improve time to value
IBM Service Agility Accelerator for Cloud is a true Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud, reducing cost and providing a highly scalable, rapid-deployment environment with near- zero downtime and automated recovery across heterogeneous platforms.
7
Key capabilities to build and manage a private cloud
Automatically tolerate and recover from SW and HW failures assuring service continuity and provide near zero down time
Rapidly provision hundreds of virtual machines in minutes
Scale up to thousands of physical machines running thousands of VM
Standardize deployment and automate provisioning with newer operations techniques and self-service to reduce costs and errors
Quickly deploy application images across compute and storage resources

IBM Service Agility Accelerator for Cloud framework
Highly scalable rapid solution: Minimize the copying of image data through the OS
streaming from storage nodes Copy-on-write technology to handle changes on each
provisioned VM
Low-touch infrastructure: Redundant nodes for high availability and robust

Success in early customer programs
North Carolina State University was able to quickly and effectively implement new cloud capabilities with IBM Service Agility Accelerator for Cloud. Leveraging high-scale, low-touch technology and easy installation and configuration, faculty and students are now able to use a fast provisioning module for their Virtual Computing Lab.*
The results:
• Support for approximately 250,000 students and faculty
• System availability exceeds 99.9%
• Image reservation reliability > 99%
• Provides up to 120K image reservations per semester
• Extremely fast load times
• Currently over 1000 images
• Simplified operations resulting in cost reduction
* Virtual Lab was built on beta-level code of ISAAC almost 12 months prior to GA.
10
Success in early customer programs
IBM has been leveraging its own breakthrough technology throughout the company, realizing the following benefits.
The results: • Over 85,000 VMs provisioned in over 10 months
• Peak usage observed hitting 4020 VMs/hour
• Sustained throughput observed at 1600 VMs/hour for ~100 minutes
• There are now ~28 ISAAC clouds deployed around IBM
• Overall running > 90% capacity and response time is stable and unchanged
• Near zero downtime due to faults or maintenance (all upgrades are rolled out live)
