Bungarribee
28/08/12 Volume 2 Issue 60
The land that “Bungarribee House” was built on in
1825, was the first land grant given in Blacktown.
Bungarribee means, “the resting place of the king”.
Bungaroo.
The house was built entirely of imported bricks and
stone and with local timber. No nails were used in its
construction; all joints were held precisely by wooden pegs, showing the true
tradesmanship of the times.

Advance Australia Fair
Australians all let us rejoice, for we are young and free,
We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil, our home is girt by sea.
Our land abounds in nature’s gifts, of beauty rich and rare,
In history’s page let every stage, Advance Australia Fair.
In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia Fair.
Our Bob returns home safely, with not a knife mark in sight
A story was spotted in a newspaper column, about a man who
was killed from love.
It appears the Nigerian, who to us is a bigamist had given 5 of
his wives the shove.
It came to the notice of our travellers to Africa with our “Bob”
being the only male,
hence the description and the use of a pen in writing about
this amazing tale.
See this business man had taken some loving from the young-
er of his brood of six,
a natural assumption he would have concluded taking this
choice from the rest of the mix.
But on that night of passion the other 5 had each armed
themselves with knives,
if he was a cat instead of a man on that night, it would have
ended the rest of his lives.
So back to our Bob, who on a day trip to the bush, was visit-
ing a Masai village,
a friendly gesture they set out to proffer, not to annoy or rum-
mage and pillage.
The tribesmen were amazed that a man from the west could
have taken so many a wife;
see they assumed the ladies were all his wives, now that’s
truly a lot of strife.
Back home now is our team and our “Bob” is relieved, to have
brought us back his brood,
and safely not a knife in sight which proves one thing, that
our Bob is shrewd.
As much as it was good for his ego at the time, to have the
Masai think of him as Chief,
to be home with us and back to some norm, is a LITOTES of
utter relief. (LITOTES “understatement”)
