A new system was deployed to address these risks. MTE Corporation announces, the Matrix® AP Passive Harmonic Filter. The Matrix AP,

available from 6A to 1200A, is an extension of our Matrix line of harmonic fi lters

and is compatible with generator systems. Using

Adaptive Passive Technology (Patent Pending), the

Matrix AP achieves better THID performance over

a wider load range. This design removes the need

for resistors and utilizes high current capacitors on

units above 103A and a single three phase capacitor

FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and

Technology), a not-for-profi t organization, was founded

in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen. The organization’s vision

is to create a world where science and technology are

celebrated and where young people can dream of becoming

science and technology heroes.

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a unique varsity sport

of the mind designed to help high school-aged young people

discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers

and researchers can be. FRC challenges teams of young minds

and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week

timeframe using a standard “kit of parts” and a common set of

rules. FIRST redefi nes winning for these students because they

are rewarded for excellence in design, demonstrated team

spirit, gracious professionalism and maturity, and the ability

to overcome obstacles. Scoring the most points is secondary.

FIRST also off ers the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), a more

aff ordable and accessible program for high school students,

the FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) for 9- to 14-year-olds and the

Junior FIRST LEGO League (FLL) for 6- to 9-year-olds. Teams

from the FRC, FTC and FLL programs will be at the booth

demonstrating their robots.

You are sure to be engaged as students showcase

their FIRST robots in the FIRST Automation Fair

booth. Among all the sophisticated automation

products and systems you’ll see in the convention

center, the FIRST booth will surely remind you

why you were inspired to become an engineer.
