girls. Different outfits but the same always-welcoming smiles.

This is the December 2012 newsletter; the last PTA newsletter of 2012. Unbelievable!

The Halloween parties are over, Thanksgiving break is here, teacher conferences are finished, and Christmas parties are on the horizon. The “elves” should have decorated the schools by now (or will be shortly) for winter and the holiday season.

Hopefully you remembered to place your Spirit Wear order if your family needed anything. Thanks for supporting this PTA fundraiser.PTA Reflection projects are due on December 3. So put on those finishing touches and get them to turn-in-night.

There are many things to look forward to in 2013 with the PTA. Something new this year will be our first ever Square Dance on Friday,

January 25. It will be a fun night where you can come dance the night away with your child and their friends.

We will have our second evening PTA meeting on Thursday, February 7 at 6:30 pm in the GPS Library, so mark your calendars and plan to attend.

I encourage you to nominate a teacher for the Outstanding Educator Award and a PTA member or helper at the school in the for the Helping Hands Awards. You can get

The businesses listed here continue to help with donations to our Blessings in a Backpack Program. With their support, we will be able to help many of our own students transition through the weekends with a healthy body and mind.

www.blessingsinabackpack.org

This nationally recognized Blessings in a Backpack Program is up and running in Green Primary & Greenwood schools! Currently this program supports 83 of our students, but at least 125 are still in need today. The structure of this program supports the overall GPS Vision 2020 in ensuring that all children’s basic needs are met. All money raised for this program goes to funding healthful, easy to prepare foods, for children to take home on Fridays. For more information or to get involved, please contact Jennifer Doerrer at [email protected] or (330)896-3085.

Thank You

Each year the school nurse and guidance counselors at GWD

and GPS collect gently used clothing donations to restock the cupboards at the school.

Clothing is used at the school for children who have accidents or get sick at school and could use a change of clothing. Due to the generosity of our families, there

is even clothing to share with our needy families in the community.

At this time the cupboards are

well stocked with clothing! BUT, the schools are always in need of NEW underwear and socks. Because they have kids from Preschool – Third Grade in the buildings, sizes 4-12 are

reasonable with sizes 4-8 being the most needed! If you would like to pick up an extra pair of new undies or socks to help

out, please bring or send them into the school office labeled

“Donation for School Nurse” and they will find their way to the

right place. When the cupboards are bare, we’ll let you know

with a request for gently

used clothing donations.

Clothing Donations

Food Item Donations Needed:

Hot Chocolate, Hearty Soups, Peanut Butter, and Apple

Sauce. Please label your donations

“Blessings” and send them in with your child to school.
