GED TESTING CENTERS

Suggestions for Local Examiners and PV Test Administrators during Literacy Awareness:

Understand the vouchering process for efficient processing of scholarships.

Present a release form to all test-takers for referral to the Adult Education transition counselors.

Begin to collect email addresses in preparation for the End of Test Series Campaign.

Require all test-takers, beginning September 1, 2012, to sign the Informed Consent form that explains the

test-takers need to complete testing by December 31, 2013.

MARKETING AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS

Item that TCSG will provide:

An electronic copy of the GED® class ring flyer to encourage classroom and test center student motivation (students will receive the order form in the mail with the diploma).

An electronic sample of the $20 scholarship letter sent to program administrators for reference (available August 17,2012 - letters sent to test-takers from the TCSG GED Testing Office).

An electronic copy of the $65 AT&T scholarship application (updated August 2012).

An electronic list with the number AT&T scholarships assigned to each state funded adult education program sent to the program administrators.

An electronic copy of a GEDTS CBT® flyer w/ actual Georgia test-takers customized for each college (delivered to the PR Director at each college released end of August).

An electronic press release template for the Free GED® Practice Test week.

An electronic list of active computer-based testing (CBT) and paper-based testing (PBT) test centers (Updated list submitted August 31, 2012).

GED SCHOLARSHIPS

Two scholarship opportunities are available through the Georgia GED Testing Program. The details for these are listed below:

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY #2:

$20 TCSG FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

(Available for both computer-based and paper-based testing)

Eligible recipients:

Individuals who have taken all 5 tests AND have total points over 2250 AND only need a minimum of 410 on one test to pass the GED test.

TCSG will:

Send letters to GED test-takers from FY11 - FY12 who meet the above criteria.

The letter will include the contact information for all state-approved adult education programs.

Requirements of scholarships:

Students will be required to bring the letter to a free GED® practice test session at a state funded adult education program and must score a 500 or above on the targeted test to qualify for the scholarship.

Only one scholarship per student while funds are available.

The test-taker must qualify for the scholarship by September 30, 2012 and test by October 31, 2012.

Once the student meets the requirements for the scholarship, the adult education teacher will:

o Sign the letter o Provide email addresses for teacher and student o Indicate the PBT or CBT test center where the test

will be taken o Fax the letter to the TCSG GED Testing Office (404)

679-4911.

An email will be sent to the teacher when the request has been received.

Upon the approval of the request:

o The test-taker and teacher will be notified via email.

o A voucher number will be sent to the identified Chief Examiner or Test Administrator

The test-taker must contact the identified Chief Examiner or Test Administrator to schedule the test.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY #1: $65 AT&T SCHOLARSHIPS

Eligible recipients:

Georgia residents who are first-time test-takers that will take the computer-based GED test.

Requirements of scholarships:

Potential GED test-takers must: o Spend a minimum of 40 hours in a state

funded adult education program. o Complete a TABE or GAIN pre- and post-test. o Score a minimum overall average standard

score of 500 on the Official Practice Test and no lower than 450 on any subtest.

The test-taker must qualify for the scholarship by March 31, 2013 and test by April 30, 2013.

Once the students meet the requirements for the scholarship, the adult education teacher will: o Complete the application for qualifying

students. o Indicate the CBT test center where the test

will be taken. o Fax the application to the TCSG GED Testing

Office (404) 679-4911.

An email will be sent to the teacher when the request has been received.

Upon the approval of the request: o The test-taker and teacher will be notified

via email. o A voucher number will be sent to the Test

Administrator.

The test-taker must contact the Test Administrator to schedule the test.
