KNOW YOUR ROOTS.

A bunch of bikes, two RV’s, cheap hotels, quality (well okay, and some cheap) brew, half-decent food, and the open road – where we come from, this is paradise. Not to mention the basis for countless stories, as any rider who’s been on road trips can attest to.

It’s been a while since we last hit the road, so this year we decided to pack our entire team (minus Chris Akrigg because of injury, you’ll see why in a minute) into two 30-foot RV’s for the Know Your Roots Road Trip. Beginning in the shadow of the Coors Brewery and ending in Southern California back where it all began in '74, our riders represented the ‘Goose at iconic BMX and Mountain destinations – culminating in an all-star celebration in Los Angeles with our pro riders and Mongoose legends from our storied past.

Our Know Your Roots Road Trip showcased Mongoose at its best through the non-stop hustle and commitment of our pro riders – demonstrating (and exceeding) what’s possible on two wheels and validating our product’s performance. Our 2012 line represents our commitment to producing authentic, high-quality bikes that will hold up to the rigors of any trail or street, giving our pros – and aspiring riders across the world – confidence in their ability to perform and push their limits on two wheels.

During the Road Trip, our Gravity line was put to the test at the United States’ most demanding freeride locations – with Steve Romaniuk owning the original Rampage course on his Boot’r in Virgin, UT and Amir Kabbani redefining the limits of slopestyle at Bartlett Wash on his Slayton.

For 2012, we’ve completely revamped our Boot’r and and also introduced the Slayton – both featuring aggressive tube shapes and dialed parts.

Each model features our patented Freedrive suspension system, delivering the ultimate in suspension activity and pedaling efficiency.

As we noted in the opening spread, Chris Akrigg is not pictured with the rest of the Mongoose Team. Chris was out filming a trials edit in England, getting back to his original pro roots.

While attempting to land a transfer near Earl Crag, Chris landed awkwardly and plunged 40 feet down (pictured below) – resulting in a broken femur and wrist that required several pieces of hardware.

Thankfully, Chris is on the mend and will be back to his old tricks soon enough…
