WelcomeWhat a great time to be in the cattle business! With

record calf prices, and even outstanding cull prices, now is

the time for seedstock and cow-calf producers to invest in

genetics for the future.

We are excited about the bull offering this year. Top to

bottom one of the most consistent groups we have offered.

There are several bulls that have the genetics to help move

your program forward.

Our friends have brought an excellent set of bulls to the

sale this year. We encourage you to contact them for

information on their individual lots. Thank you to Lakeview

Farms (Gail’s folks), Tom and Erin Brink who run some cows

at our place, CJ&L Livestock from Hermosa, SD; Grand Valley

Gelbvieh out of Parachute, CO; Prairie Trail Cattle Company

from Fort Collins, CO; and Hideaway Gelbvieh from

Cheyenne, WY.

The bulls were developed together on a high roughage diet

of corn silage, ground hay, ground ear corn and a good

protein and mineral supplement. We target for a gain of

2.75 to 3 pounds per day for longevity. However, the bulls

have exceeded expectations with an average of 3.6 lbs/day

at mid-test on the same ration as previous years.

All of the bulls were PAP-tested this year. We encourage

you to use this as an additional tool in your selection

process. We were pleased with how well all of the bulls

scored. We will also have complete ultrasound data and

final weights available on sale day.

The cattle are available for your evaluation at any time at

the farm south of Pierce, CO. We invite you to stop by to go

party is interested in a lot, there will be a bid off at

1:00 p.m. A complete supplement sheet will be

available on Open House/Sale Day. We hope this

makes a relaxed enjoyable buying experience for

• Health: The cattle have had all their

vaccinations and will be semen tested and available

for interstate shipment within the U.S. The cattle

have all been tested negative for PI BVD.

• Terms: Cash or cashable check on sale day

unless other arrangements have been made with

us.

• Delivery: We will deliver your purchases at no

cost to you within 250 miles. If you haul your

bulls on sale day, you can take $25 per bull off.

We would encourage you to take a little extra special

care of your investment(s). Yearling bulls are still

growing and we all expect a lot out of them. Limit

the breeding season and number of cows that they

will have to service. Do not turn young bulls out in

the same pasture with mature bulls. A yearling in

good condition can be expected to service 15-25

cows in his first season, but he will need to be

brought in early and given a little extra care after all

that work. Yearlings will start losing their teeth at 15

to 18 months of age and need a little TLC if you

expect them to grow and develop to their full

potential. A little extra care up front will make your

purchases last a lot longer and also make for

healthier, better bulls down the trail!

When you first turn your bulls out, watch them and

make sure that they are getting the job at hand done.

Also, if they start getting a little run down rest them

or give them a little extra energy, it will pay dividends

in the long run!
