The THOLOS TOMB of ACHARNES
Acharnes was the largest DEME of ancient ATTICA; it
was located in the northwest part of the Attic plain,
south of Mt. PARNES about 10 km due north of
Athens. The existence of a Tholos Tomb proves that
the area was an independent entity.

EASTER & GREAT WEEK
http://www.greecetravel.com/easter/
The week of Easter begins on Palm Sunday and there are
church services everyday commemorating the last week in the
life of Jesus Christ.
On Thursday the hard-boiled eggs are dyed red,
signifying the blood of Christ.
The Epitaphios procession follows on Friday.
The Resurrection celebration
starts on Saturday night
and continues
on Sunday with the traditional
roasted lamb, red boiled eggs and
much more…
15th AUGUST, the day of Panagia
This is the second biggest religious
holiday after Easter and on the island
of Tinos this day is celebrated like
on no other. Pilgrims by the
thousands come here to crawl on
their knees up the steps to the church
that holds the holy Icon. But this day
is also celebrated in almost every
town and village in Greece especially
those with a church dedicated to the
Panagia (Virgin Mary).

SOUVLAKIA
FOR DESSERT
LET‟S TRY
HELENA’S LOUKOUMADES,
A FRIED PASTRY COVERED
IN A HONEY
AND CINNAMON SAUCE.
YOU CAN ACOMPANY THEM
WITH A NICE CUP
OF CREEK COFFEE…
In a small pan we put plenty of oil and we let it become very hot. Using a spoon we take only small
quantity of the pastry and we place it in the hot oil. Every time before we take the pastry we put
the spoon in a glass of water in order to be
slippery. We fry loukoumades until they become
a bit red. In avoidance of keeping much oil,
when we fry them we should place them
on a piece of kitchen paper.
GOOD LUCK !!!
•1 packet of flour which inflates itself (500gr)
•A small bag of yeast.
•Some sugar (1 little spoon only)
•Two cups of warm water
•Honey & Cinnamon
•Some oil for the frying
Useful steps to make them successfully
In a bowl we add some warm water, the sugar and the yeast.
We mix it for the yeast to be dissolved.
We add the flour and then mix it .Finally we add the salt.
We cover the bowl using a clean kitchen towel
and we put it in a hot place ( radiator ,cooker).
When the pastry starts going on the walls of the bowl ,
it means that it is ready.(it approximately needs half an hour).
