“FOR THE RESIDENTS, BY THE RESIDENTS”
Happy 4th
of July July 2013
THE FLAG
Red for the blood shed in the name of freedom, for
which we fought, united.
Blue for the oceans of time we have crossed,
remaining the land of the free.
White for the peace we wish to share, all men
created equal.
Stars to remember those who fought throughout
the night, bravely, for our land.
Stripes to remind us of the lashings taken by the
prisoners of War.
With a seal, in GOD WE TRUST,
We each are one of many, in which we stand
united in Brotherhood.
A symbol of Pride,
A salute to those who died in the fight,
A blanket to cover us in times of need.
Waving high to show we are still here,
undefeated,
With honor, you are presented to the world!
A Salute to all you veterans!
Happy 4th of July!....
Let's get this started now, So it will be out there on the fourth!
I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE
TO THE FLAG,
OF THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA ,
AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR
WHICH IT STANDS,
ONE NATION UNDER GOD,
INDIVISIBLE,
WITH LIBERTY
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!
For all of our military personnel,
where ever they may be.
Please Support all of the troops defending
our Country.

DEAR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS
We have been blessed with lots of rain, so hopefully we won’t have a drought.
A new air conditioner has been installed for the card room and library with
extra vents into the main hall. If it all works, it should be more comfortable for
our monthly entertainers.
On July 4th, we are going to have a corn hole tournament at 5 pm for members
only. Sloppy Joes will be served and check the sign up sheet for more details.
Prices for entertainment for year round residents for June and July were
reduced to $5 at the door.
Thanks to Marielle Quain, a new bingo camera has been installed on the bingo
machine. Players can see the ball on the two new televisions.
Thanks to John and Sandi for all of the work installing the televisions and all of
the changes to make our club house look great!
Dot Cady

DISTRAUGHT SENIOR CITIZEN
A distraught senior citizen phoned her doctor’s office. “Is it true that
the medication you prescribed has to be taken for the rest of my life?”
“Yes, I’m afraid so,” the doctor told her.
There was a moment of silence before the senior lady replied, “Just
how serious is my condition? This prescription is marked “NO
REFILLS.”
MIDLIFE CRISIS ENTERTAINMENT
On Thursday, May 23rd, the members of the Association were treated to a great show with
free food. Each table were given 2 large pizza’s with a dish of salad and a piece of cake and
punch and coffee were available. There was more than enough food for everyone and of
course left overs.
The entertainers were Susan & Rubin and Susan’s husband handled the music…The singing
was awesome and they sang continuously from 5:30pm until 7:30pm with no break!
They sang many favorites some of Elvis, Tom Jones, Rightous Brothers, and so many more I
could not even mention….songs of the 50’s, 60’s and some of the 40’s. Susan interacted
with the audience and got people singing along and moving in their chairs to the music.
When Rubin sang, “Unchained Melody” everyone just sat there in amazement of how good
he was. Rubin appeared in a “You Tube” segment and on a variety show like American Idol
and came in 2nd which was hard to believe.
All in all, for those who did not come, you missed a great show and it did not seem like 2
hours when it was all over.
If they appear here in the park again, make sure you come out to see them!
Southfork TOPS
Have you been thinking of shedding some weight for a
healthier and slimmer you? Our “Tops Club” is the place to come to.
TOPS stands for “Take Off Pounds Sensibly.” We are a support group
with help and advice given versus a diet.
We meet on Saturday mornings each week in the clubhouse. Weigh-
in time is between 9:00am to 9:30am followed by a meeting and
program from 9:30 to 10:30am. The support and encouragement we
receive from each other is fantastic. There are also incentives that
include contests and games with prizes.
Come and visit free for the first time with no obligation to join and see
for yourself. The fee to join is $28.00 a year with a weekly fee of a
$1.00 or ($4.00 a month )which helps our little treasury for the
purchasing of charms and bracelet awarded with weight losses.
Stop by to see us and ask questions on Nov 9th
(Carport Sale) at the
pavilion. We will have items to sell along with slightly used clothing!

July Florida Prayer
Bless this house, oh Lord we cry, Please keep it
cool in mid-July.
Bless the walls where termites dine, And ants and
roaches march in time.
Bless our yard where spiders pass, Fire ant castles in the grass.
Bless the garage, a home to please, Carpenter beetles, ticks and fleas.
Bless the love bugs, two by two, The gnats and mosquitoes that feed
on you.
Millions of creatures that fly or crawl, In Florida, Lord, you've put them
all!
DO YOU KNOW ABOUT 511??????
This is for anyone ready to make a trip or to some of the “snowbirds” getting
ready to travel back North.
Dial 511 from your phone before hitting the road. The service provides real-time
travel information on all interstate highways in Florida, as well as Florida’s
turnpike. 511 lets you know about accidents, road construction, severe weather
conditions or other things that can slow you down. The traffic information is free
on your home phone.
When storms threaten Florida, a call to 511 will let you know before you leave so
you can plan ahead. 511 gives information about road conditions, congestion,
contraflow, suspended tolls and any road closings.
This is statewide information that can be accessed and it may ask which part of
the state do you want to know about. This is all real time reporting.
You can also access this information on the internet by going into:
www.Fl511.com to receive statewide and regional updates. The website
provides much of the same information as the phone call, plus additional
features, including traffic camera’s.
So before leaving on your trip, check out the site before leaving home or while
traveling throughout the state. It’s fast, easy and just a few clicks away.
