THE STROH CENTERBGSU MAINTAINS ITS HOME-COURT ADVANTAGE IN A NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITY

The Falcon basketball and volleyball teams moved into a new home in time for the 2011-12 academic year, as the Stroh Center opened in the summer of 2011.

The first athletic event in the venue saw a crowd of nearly 3,000 watch the Falcon volleyball team post an impressive victory over Michigan State in September of 2011.

The $36 million venue was made possible by $14 million of private donations, including an $8 million donation from Kermit and Mary Lu Stroh of Wapakoneta, Ohio the largest single private gift in BGSU history.

The new front door to campus also features the largest Falcon statue in the world. Charlotte, N.C., philanthropist Irwin Belk donated $100,000 to cast and build the bronze Falcon statue.

The womens basketball team has posted a 28-7 record in the first two seasons in the new building, including a 15-2 mark against Mid-American Conference foes in regular-season and league tourney play. Last year, BG held MAC opponents to fewer than 60 points in eight of nine games at the Stroh, including five games under 50 points (and two games of fewer than 40 points).

THE STROH CENTERA LIFETIME OF MEMORIES IN A SHORT TIME

The state-of-the-art arena has hosted several concerts, and will also be used for convocations, orientation and student activities.

President Barack Obama spoke at the Stroh Center in September of 2012, and the venue has also seen performers such as comedian Jim Gaffigan and musical artists Sanctus Real and Cobra Starship, among others, perform there.

The Stroh Center has hosted numerous Ohio High School Athletic Association sectional and district boys basketball games, along with OSHAA volleyball and wrestling events in its first two seasons.

The Stroh Center Rap, a video created for the Stroh Center dedication ceremony on Sept. 9, 2011, featured the talents of BGSU students Mikey Rosco Blair and Rachel Willingham, along with Kermit Stroh and fellow donors Larry Miles, Bill Frack and Allen Schmidthorst. Several student-athletes, including womens basketball standouts Jessica Slagle and Alexis Rogers, also participated in the project. The video, which was featured nationally in a variety of places, including ESPN.com, went viral. It has been viewed nearly 200,000 times.

THE STROH CENTERA LIFETIME OF MEMORIES IN A SHORT TIME

Even before the Stroh Center was complete, the NCAA accepted Bowling Greens bid to serve as a host for the 2012 NCAA Division I Womens Basketball Championships. Baylor began its run to the national title, winning a pair of games at the Stroh en route to becoming the first mens or womens basketball team to go 40-0.

Baylor junior Brittney Griner, the National Player of the Year, became just the second womens player to dunk in an NCAA Tournament game, slamming one home in traffic in the teams second-round win over Florida. All three tournament games held in the Stroh Center were sellouts. In addition to Baylor & Florida, Ohio State & UC Santa Barbara rounded out the field at the Stroh.

THE ROOS ERAJENNIFER ROOS, IN HER SECOND SEASON AS HEAD COACH, HAS BEEN A KEY REASON FOR BGSUS SUCCESS FOR OVER A DECADE

  • 12 BGSUWOMENSBASKETBALL2013-14

Curt Miller was hired as BGSUs head coach in May of 2001, and Jennifer Roos was his first hire shortly thereafter. The new staff inherited a team with 11 returning players.

The Falcons went 9-19 that season, and posted a 12-16 record in his second year. But, the groundwork was being laid for future success.

Miller spoke of a five-year plan to return BGSU to the upper echelons of the Mid-American Conference. He promised that the Falcons would be the hardest-working team in the league, and he and his staff hit the ground running.

While the team went a combined 21-35 in those two seasons, the foundation was being laid for future success.

  • 14 BGSUWOMENSBASKETBALL2013-14

Two seniors, Lindsay Austin and Stefanie Wenzel, decided to accelerate the new staffs five-year plan.

Austin and Wenzel, along with a large freshman class, helped the Falcons to one of the top turnarounds in the nation. BGSU, picked to finish sixth (i.e., last) in the MACs West Division, tied for second with a conference record of 11-5. Overall, the Falcons finished with a 21-10 record, marking a nine-win improvement over the prior season.

Austin made no fewer than three buzzer-beating shots during the year, with the last two coming in wins over Western Michigan and top-seeded Miami in the MAC Tournament at Gund Arena in downtown Cleveland. BG advanced to the tourney championship game.

Austin was named the MACs Defensive Player of the Year, while Ali Mann was voted the leagues Freshman of the Year. Austin, Mann and Wenzel all earned all-league honors.

Jennifer Roos was elevated to associate head coach prior to the season. After advancing to the MAC Tournaments championship game in 2004, BGSU captured the schools first title in 11 years with an 81-75 win over Kent State in 05.

Having lost two starters both 1,000-point scorers from the prior years team, the Falcons were picked to finish third in the MACs West Division. But, BGSU won the leagues regular-season title with a 13-3 mark. Overall, the Brown and Orange went 23-8.

After a 3-4 start to the season, the staff altered the starting lineup, inserting freshman Kate Achter at point guard. With Achter in the lineup, and senior Tene Lewis providing a spark off the bench, BG went 20-4 the rest of the way. Achter was named the MAC Tournaments MVP.

Four starters Achter and sophs Liz Honegger, Carin Horne and Ali Mann averaged at least 11.0 points per game, while junior Casey McDowell had 6.8 ppg.

BACK TO BACK2005-06: BGSU GOES 28-3 & RUNS THE TABLE IN THE MAC

After winning the MAC regular-season and tourney titles the prior year, the Falcons found they could no longer sneak up on anybody. With the bulls-eye squarely on their backs, though, the prohibitive MAC favorites proceeded not only to successfully defend their titles, but to set a record in the process.

BGSU went 28-3 on the season, setting a new school and a new MAC record for wins in a season. The Falcons rolled through the league tourney, capping that run with a 64-39 win over Kent State in the title game.

The Falcons became just the fifth team in MAC history to complete the league regular-season schedule with a perfect record, going 16-0.

Curt Miller repeated as MAC Coach of the Year, and also was named Region 4 Coach of the Year by the WBCA. Ali Mann became BGs first All-MAC First-Team selection in six years, and also was named the MAC Tournament MVP.

Any pressure the Falcons might have faced in 2005-06 was nothing compared to the expectations placed upon the 06-07 team. BGSU lived up to those expectations, setting school and MAC records in wins for the second-straight season. The Falcons went 31-4 overall, the highest win total by a MAC basketball team mens or womens in history.

The six-member senior class of Amber Flynn, Julie Gompers, Liz Honegger, Carin Horne, Ali Mann and Megan Thorburn made a fourth consecutive trip to the league tourney championship game.

BG won MAC regular-season and tourney titles for the third-straight year, and downed Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt to become the MACs first-ever womens basketball team to advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Championships.

Mann shared MAC Player-of-the-Year honors, while Miller was league Coach of the Year yet again. Horne earned MAC Tournament MVP honors.

THREE-PEAT!2006-07: FALCONS SET MAC RECORD WITH 31 WINS EN ROUTE TO SWEET 16

  • 22 BGSUWOMENSBASKETBALL2013-14

After BGSU graduated five of the top seven players from the Sweet Sixteen team, many thought 2007-08 would finally be the year the Falcons came back to the pack. But, seniors Kate Achter and Whitney Taylor led a young BG team to yet another MAC regular-season title. The Falcons went 26-8 overall and 13-3 in conference.

After three consecutive MAC Tournament titles, BGs run at Gund/Quicken Loans Arena finally came to an end with a double-overtime loss in the semifinals. But, the Falcons earned a national postseason berth, and defeated Dayton in the first round of the WNIT at Anderson Arena.

Achter was named MAC Player of the Year, and the stellar point guard also set the schools career assists record. BG pulled off an unprecedented sweep of the leagues major awards, as Curt Miller and Lauren Prochaska took Coach- and Freshman-of-the-Year honors, respectively.

Achter and Taylor helped the Falcons to 108 wins an average of 27 per year during their BGSU careers. BG went 108-23 (59-5 in the MAC) in those four seasons.

The Falcons began the season with a pair of double-digit losses on the road, but bounced back in a big way. BGSU put together a school-record 25-game winning streak, going without a loss from late November to early March.

That winning streak enabled the Falcons to capture a fifth consecutive MAC regular-season title. BGSU had an overall record of 29-5, and a league mark of 15-1.

The 29-win total was the second-highest in both BGSU and MAC history, trailing only the 2006-07 teams 31 wins.

Lauren Prochaska was named the MAC Player of the Year, while Curt Miller was chosen as the leagues Coach of the Year for a fifth consecutive year. Tracy Pontius joined Prochaska on the All-MAC First Team, and Pontius also earned honorable mention on the Associated Press All-America Team.

BGs lone senior, Lindsey Goldsberry, finished her career as the winningest player in MAC basketball history. BGSU had a record of 114-20 (59-5 MAC) during her four years.

The Falcons won the MACs regular-season title outright for the sixth consecutive year. BGSU also captured the MAC Tournament for the fourth time in that six-year span.

The Falcons won 27 games, reaching that milestone for the fourth time in the last five years. BGSU went 14-2 in conference play.

Lauren Prochaska was named the MAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, and also was named the MAC Tournament MVP. She set school single-season records for points scored (609) and three-point field goals made (92).

Curt Miller became the fastest coach in MAC womens basketball history to reach 200 career wins. The Falcons win at Akron on Feb. 20 gave Miller 200 victories in his first 279 games at BGSU. The previous month, he had reached 100 MAC victories, becoming the second-fastest coach in league history to reach that milestone.

For the first time since 2004, the Falcons did not win the MACs regular-season title outright. But, BGSU did win the East Division crown again, then captured the MAC Tournament championship for the second-straight March and the fifth time in the last seven seasons.

The Falcons went 28-5 overall and 13-3 in MAC play, marking the programs eighth consecutive season of 20 or more wins.

On Feb. 5, Lauren Prochaska became BGSUs career scoring leader, breaking the record set by Jackie Motycka. Motycka was in attendance at venerable Anderson Arena, as both players were among 13 named to the All-Anderson Team that afternoon.

The Falcons ended the Anderson Arena Era in style, going 14-1 at home in 2010-11. BG won 46 of the final 48 games in the building, and had an all-time record of 333-116 (74.1%) at The House That Roars.

After losing six seniors and nearly 5,500 points from the previous years team, the Falcons proceeded to win the MACs regular-season title outright for the seventh time in eight seasons. BG, with nine freshmen or sophomores on the roster, went 14-2 in league play.

The Falcons won over 20 games for the ninth consecutive year, a MAC record. BGSU advanced to national postseason play for the eighth time in as many seasons, participating in the WNIT.

When Curt Miller was sidelined due to illness midway through the conference schedule, Jennifer Roos served as interim head coach and guided the Falcons to a pair of victories.

The Falcons began the Stroh Center Era by going 14-2 at the teams new home. Both losses came by a single point, to nationally-ranked Purdue in November and to VCU in the first round of the WNIT in mid-March.

The Jennifer Roos head-coaching era began in 2012-13, and the winning continued. The Falcons went 24-11, winning over 20 games for the 10th year in a row to extend the school and MAC records.

Roos and the Falcons set several program standards at the defensive end of the floor. BGSU allowed just 54.3 points per game, a new school record. That broke the mark of 55.7 ppg allowed, set the previous year.

The Falcons allowed MAC foes to score just 51.9 points per contest, again breaking a school record that had been set the year before. Opponents shot only 36.1 percent from the field in conference games, also a school-record low for the Orange and Brown.

BGSU advanced to national postseason play for the ninth-straight year, winning two WNIT games before losing by just three points to the eventual champions.

Jennifer Roos enters her second season as head coach of the Bowling Green womens basketball program, but her 13th with the Falcon program, in 2013-14. Roos assumed the head-coaching position on April 16, 2012, after 11 years as an assistant coach on the BG staff, the last eight as associate head coach.

In her first season at the helm, Roos guided the Falcons to an overall record of 24-11 and a Mid-American Conference record of 11-5. The 2012-13 team advanced to the third round of the Womens National Invitation Tournament with wins over SMU and Duquesne, before the Falcons fell by three points to eventual tourney champion Drexel.

The 12-13 Falcons set several program standards at the defensive end of the floor. BGSU allowed just 54.3 points per game, a new school record. That broke the mark of 55.7 ppg allowed, set the previous year.

Additionally, the Falcons allowed MAC opponents to score only 51.9 points per contest, again breaking a school record set the previous year. Opponents shot only 36.1 percent from the field in MAC games, also a school-record low for the Falcons. In all games, Falcon foes field-goal rate of 37.3% was the lowest allowed since the 1976-77 season.

The 2012-13 team posted a 6-7 record against teams that advanced to national postseason play. That record included a pair of 25-point wins over both nationally-ranked Dayton and eventual MAC Tournament champion Central Michigan at the Stroh Center. The Dayton result was the Flyers only loss in 27 regular-season games.

For her efforts in 12-13, Roos was named a Mid-Major Rookie Coach of the Year in Kenny Kallinas annual College Coaching Awards. She was just one of three coaches on that list.

Even prior to her appointment as head coach, Roos was a major reason for the programs incredible run of success over the last decade-plus. She joined Curt Millers staff in July of 2001, and helped the Falcons to at least one MAC championship of some kind in each of Millers last eight seasons. BGSU won eight-straight MAC divisional crowns from 2005-12, earning the leagues outright regular-season title in seven of those eight years. The Falcons also captured five MAC Tournament crowns in that time.

The 2013 trip to the WNIT marked BGSUs ninth consecutive national postseason appearance, and the Falcons won 20 games for the 10th consecutive season. Both streaks are MAC records.

Roos, a member of multiple Halls of Fame, was in charge of the Falcon defense during her tenure on Millers staff, and also served as the teams recruiting coordinator. After three years as an assistant coach with the Falcons, she was elevated to associate head coach in the summer of 2004.

When Miller suffered a mild stroke in January of 2012, Roos assumed interim head-coaching duties and led the Falcons to a 2-0 record, with wins over Central Michigan and Northern Illinois prior to Millers return to the bench in early February of that year.

Through the end of the 2012-13 season, the Falcons have fashioned an overall record of 282-103 and a MAC mark of 146-46. Those numbers arent too shabby, as they represent a success rate of over 73 percent overall and a winning percentage of better than 76% in conference action.

Over the last 10 years, however, the numbers are even more staggering. The Falcons are 261-68 (79.3%) overall, 135-25 (84.4%) in MAC regular-season play and 158-30 (84.0%) in all games vs. league foes during that time.

Roos has a record of 2-1 in WNIT games. She and Miller are the only two Falcon head coaches to lead BG to WNIT victories. Miller had a record of 2-3 in the tourney.

Basketball fans and followers in the Midwest have known for years that Roos is one of the top coaches in the land. In the spring of 2009, that secret got out. Roos was one of just five national winners of BasketballScoop.coms Rising Star Award. The award recognizes assistant coaches that are the best in the business as determined by their peers.

On the way to that award, Roos was named one of 20 semifinalists in late March of 09. Coaches made it to the semifinalist stage through a nomination process by their

peers. Then, the list was cut to 10 finalists, who were the leading vote-getters in the sites online voting. From there, a panel of coaches selected the five winners.

The 2011-12 season saw the staff perform one of the top coaching jobs in their tenure. After losing six seniors and nearly 5,500 points from the previous seasons club, the Falcons proceeded to win the MACs regular-season crown yet again, with a 14-2 league mark. The Brown and Orange qualified for the WNIT, marking the eighth consecutive year with a national postseason berth, and BG won 24 games overall.

In 2010-11, the Falcons had an overall record of 28-5, winning a MAC East Division title with a 13-3 mark, then capturing three more games to win the league tournament title for the fifth time in seven seasons.

The 2009-10 season saw the Falcons post an overall record of 27-7 and a MAC ledger of 14-2. BGSU won the conference regular-season and tournament titles, returning to the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in the last six years. BG had the MAC Player of the Year -- Lauren Prochaska -- for the fourth consecutive season, and Prochaska went on to earn MAC Tournament MVP honors as well.

Eight years ago, the MAC record for wins in a season was 27. In the time since then, Miller, Roos and the Falcons have won at least 27 games in five of the eight seasons. In fact, in those eight years, BG has AVERAGED 27.1 wins per year.

In the classroom, BGSUs teams have been equally successful. The Falcons ranked fifth in the entire nation on the WBCAs 2008-09 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The award recognizes teams throughout the country that had the highest grade point averages for the 2008-09 academic year. BG was sixth in the nation on that list in 2009-10.

The Falcons, who have made the list three times in the last four years, had a team GPA of 3.470 for the 08-09 campaign, a figure that increased to 3.500 for 2009-10. BGSU was the only MAC program on the list in each year, and the Falcons were the only program from the state of Ohio in the Division-I Top 25 in both seasons.

In the 08-09 season, BGSU got off to an 0-2 start, with a pair of double-digit losses on the road. With four-year floor general Kate Achter having graduated, surely this would be the year the Falcons magical run came to an end, right?

    Ummm, no.

The Falcons, with nine first- or second-year players on the 13-woman active roster, proceeded to win a school-record 25 consecutive games, going from late November to March without a loss. That run included wins in each of the first 14 contests of the conference schedule, en route to a 15-1 MAC record. The young Falcons posted a total of 29 wins, the second-highest total in MAC womens basketball history, and advanced to the third round of the WNIT.

The success of the 08-09 campaign came after a 2007-08 season that was, well, successful. With a roster containing 10 underclassmen -- including seven freshmen -- the Falcons put together a 26-8 season, advancing to the second round of the WNIT. The Falcons went 13-3 in MAC regular-season play to win the conference title yet again.

Of course, the Falcons 2006-07 season remains the finest year in MAC womens basketball history. After posting a 28-3 mark -- a conference record for wins at the time -- in the 2005-06 season, the Falcons shattered that record with a 31-win season in 06-07. The latter BG team beat Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt in the NCAA Championships to become the first-ever MAC womens team to advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the national tourney.

The 06-07 season saw BGSU listed in the national rankings in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN Coaches polls for nearly the entire season, reaching a school- and league-best ranking of 15th in the final AP listing.

The 2005-06 team, as mentioned, set a league record for wins (since broken) by going 28-3 overall. The Falcons posted a perfect 16-0 MAC mark, and added three more wins in the conference tournament. In the 06-07 campaign, the club went 15-1 in league regular-season action, and again had a 3-0 mark in the MAC Tournament.

In 2004-05, the staff guided the Falcons, picked to finish third in the West Division, to the leagues best overall record, a MAC regular-season championship and the top seed for the Kraft MAC Tournament. In the league tourney in Cleveland, the Brown and Orange downed Miami, Eastern Michigan and Kent State to capture the schools first conference tourney crown and NCAA Championships bid in over a decade. In the NCAAs, Miller and the Falcons led nationally-ranked Kansas State at the half before succumbing, 70-60.

All of that success came after a magical 2003-04 campaign, when Miller, Roos and the staff orchestrated one of the top turnarounds in the nation. BGSU, picked to finish sixth in the MAC West, tied for second (just a game out of first), finishing 21-10 overall. That marked a nine-win improvement over the prior season, tying for 11th in the country in that category.

In conference play, the coaching staff guided the Brown and Orange to an 11-5 ledger, a complete reversal of the prior years league record (5-11). In 2003-04, the Falcons finished with a winning record -- both overall and in MAC action -- for the first time in six years. BGSU, six games better than the previous season in conference play, was the only MAC team to improve by more than three games over the 2002-03 season.

In 2002-03, the Brown and Orange went 12-16 overall. After posting the most successful non-conference season in over a decade, that edition of the Falcons -- in BGSUs first season in the MACs West Division -- amassed a 5-11 league ledger that included a win over the divisions co-champion.

The Falcons posted a 9-19 overall record in Millers staffs first season at the helm. Despite the loss of Preseason All-MAC Team member Francine Miller for all but four games, BGSU went 6-10

in league action and featured a much-improved defense from prior years. In fact, over the past seven seasons, the Falcons have posted six of the top-nine totals in that category in school history.

Roos came to the Falcon program after spending eight years at Davidson College. She became a coach with the Wildcats upon her graduation from the school.

Roos served as the recruiting coordinator for her final two seasons, the scheduling coordinator for the last five years and the scouting coordinator during all eight years at Davidson.

Roos, a native of Louisville, Ky., was a member of both the 1991-92 Davidson club team and the 1992-93 varsity squad.

The latter season marked the varsity programs first after a six-year absence.

During that 1992-93 season, Roos was the sole upperclassman among the teams starting five. She led DC in minutes, steals and assists, and was one of only two players to start all 22 games.

Roos was a standout in field hockey during her undergraduate years. She was a four-year letterwinner and a three-time MVP for Davidson. Roos led the Cats to a 50-15-6 record in her four seasons, and helped the squad to three consecutive Deep South Association championships.

Roos served as a captain for both the field hockey and basketball teams as a senior. She also lettered in lacrosse at Davidson.

Roos graduated from Davidson in 1993, with a B.A. in history, upon which she began her coaching career at the school.

In January of 2006, Roos was inducted into the Davidson Athletics Hall of Fame. She was inducted into her high schools (Kentucky Country Day) Hall of Fame in February of 2010.

Jesse Fleming embarks upon his second season as an assistant coach on the womens basketball staff at Bowling Green in 2013-14. Head coach Jennifer Roos announced the hiring of Fleming in early June of 2012.

In his first year with the Falcons, Fleming helped the team post 24 victories and advance to the third round of the Womens National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).

BGSU went 24-11 overall, and the Falcons had a Mid-American Conference record of 11-5. The 2012-13 team picked up WNIT wins over SMU and Duquesne before falling by three points to eventual tourney champion Drexel.

Fleming, who among a myriad of other duties served as the teams defensive coach, helped the 12-13 Falcons set several program standards at that end of the floor. BGSU allowed just 54.3 points per game, a new school record. That broke the mark of 55.7 ppg allowed, set the previous year.

Additionally, the Falcons allowed MAC opponents to score only 51.9 points per contest, again breaking a school record set the previous winter.

The Dayton result marked the Flyers only loss in 27 regular-season games.

Fleming came to BGSU after spending the 2011-12 season at Stony Brook University on the staff of Beth OBoyle. Flemings recruiting efforts with the Seawolves helped the team improve its win total by 10 victories from 2011-12 to 2012-13. The 12-13 team had posted the fifth-best turnaround in the nation at the conclusion of the regular season.

Prior to his stint with the Seawolves, Fleming spent six years at Saint Bonaventure University on Jim Crowleys staff. He was associate head coach during his final season (2010-11) with the Bonnies.

At Stony Brook, Fleming managed the programs recruiting operations, and was the staffs liaison for student-athlete academics. He assisted in all facets of the program, including game scheduling, individual player development, game scouting and budget.

At SBU, Fleming helped the Bonnies to over 20 wins in each of his last three seasons with the program, which resulted in WNIT appearances in each of those three campaigns. The initial trip to the WNIT, in 2009, marked the programs first-ever postseason berth. In Flemings six years on the SBU staff, the program established school records for wins four times.

At St. Bonaventure, Fleming held a myriad of responsibilities, including recruiting, scouting and film breakdown, video exchange, scheduling, practice and game preparation, as well as working with the guards and post players. As the teams director of individual player development, Fleming was in charge of constructing and planning daily skill advancement sessions for the players.

Fleming helped Dana Mitchell become a two-time all-conference selection and the fifth sophomore ever to capture the Atlantic 10 Conference scoring crown. Fleming also facilitated the development of Megan VanTatenhove into an all-league choice.

Flemings resume includes a brief stint as an assistant coach at Louisburg (N.C.) College prior to taking the SBU job. He was a student manager at SBU from 2001-05, and was a volunteer assistant coach with the Olean H.S. girls basketball team during the 2004-05 season.

Fleming graduated with honors from St. Bonaventure in 2005, with a bachelors degree in journalism/mass communication

    ASSISTANT COACH JACEY BROOKS

Jacey Brooks begins her first season as an assistant coach on the womens basketball staff at Bowling Green. Head coach Jennifer Roos announced the hiring of Brooks in late May of 2013, and Brooks began her duties with the Falcons on June 4.

I am excited to announce the hiring of Jacey Brooks to our staff, said Roos at the time of the hiring. Jacey will be an integral part of the BGSU womens basketball program.

She brings a vast amount of experience ranging from being a former standout collegiate student-athlete to her coaching experiences at two Division-I womens basketball programs. She will be a strong mentor for our student-athletes on and off the court. I look forward to Jacey becoming an active member of our Bowling Green community.

Brooks came to BGSU after spending the last three seasons at Canisius College on the staff of head coach Terry Zeh. While with the Golden Griffins, she primarily worked with the teams backcourt players while assisting with the day-to-day operations of the program.

I am so excited and honored to have the opportunity to become a part of the Bowling Green womens basketball program and community, said Brooks at the time of her hiring. I am looking forward to working with Coach Roos and the rest of the staff to continue the rich winning tradition here at BGSU.

Prior to Canisius, Brooks spent three years on Jim Crowleys staff at Saint Bonaventure University. She moved into an assistant coach role for the 2009-10 season after spending two seasons as the director of basketball operations for the Bonnies. She worked with current BGSU assistant coach Jesse Fleming during that time.

The Bonnies had a record of 23-10 during 09-10, tying the school record for wins in a season and making an appearance in the Womens National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) for the second consecutive year. SBU set or tied the school wins record in each of the three seasons that Brooks was on the staff.

The 2007-08 team began the season with a then program-best 11-2 record, going on to an 18-12 overall mark and a 6-12 record in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The next season, SBU set program marks with 23 overall wins and nine conference victories, going 23-11 on the year and

advanced to the WNIT for the first postseason appearance in program history.

In 09-10, the Bonnies again went 9-5 in A-10 play. The team opened the season with 11 consecutive wins, the longest winning streak in school history, and finished in the top-10 in the nation in free-throw percentage, three-point field-goal percentage, scoring defense and fewest turnovers.

A native of Machias, N.Y., Brooks was a four-year standout on the womens basketball team at Buffalo State College. A 2006 graduate of the school with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Wellness, she departed as the programs fourth all-time leading scorer (1,219 points) and also ranked in the top-10 in school history in rebounds (554, ninth). A two-time All-SUNYAC performer, Brooks helped lead the Bengals to three-straight SUNYAC tournaments.

Brooks has also coached in the Empire State Games, serving as an assistant coach for the Western region in the womens open division.

She earned her Masters Degree in Sport Administration from Canisius in May of 2012.

Sahar Nusseibeh enters her first season as an assistant coach on the womens basketball staff at Bowling Green State University. Nusseibeh, an Ohio native, began her duties at BGSU in mid-June of 2013.

Nusseibeh came to BGSU after spending the last two seasons at the College of the Holy Cross on the staff of head coach Bill Gibbons. She helped the Crusaders win a total of 37 games over those two seasons, and the team advanced to the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament both years. Among a myriad of duties, Nusseibeh was the teams post coach and also was the programs video coordinator.

I am thrilled to announce that Sahar Nusseibeh will be joining the womens basketball staff, said BGSU head coach Jennifer Roos at the time of Nusseibehs hiring. She brings with her a number of Ohio connections: playing for North Canton Hoover High School, working as a graduate assistant at the University of Cincinnati, and formerly serving as the recruiter for the Midwest and Ohio for Holy Cross.

Sahar is extremely motivated and passionate about coaching. She will be an excellent mentor for our student-athletes and an exceptional recruiter. I look forward to having her be a part of the Bowling Green community.

In 2012-13, Holy Cross finished 18-14 overall. The fourth seed for the league tournament, the Crusaders advanced all the way to the title game before falling to Navy.

The 2011-12 Crusaders had a 19-15 record, upsetting top-seeded American in the PL Tournaments semifinal round. Holy Cross was invited to the Womens Basketball Invitational (WBI) and posted a first-round win in that national postseason tournament.

Prior to joining the Holy Cross program, Nusseibeh spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at the University of Cincinnati. While with the Bearcats, she coordinated video, served as the teams post coach and was the academic liaison between the players, academics department and coaches.

In addition to her experiences with UC and Holy Cross, Nusseibeh served internships with both the Atlanta Dream (2007) and Washington Mystics (2009) of the WNBA. Additionally, she spent time in Colorado working with USA Basketball, helping prepare the U-19 and World

University Games teams that competed in Thailand and Serbia, respectively.

Nusseibeh played four seasons at American University from 2005-09, and was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team in her initial season. She made 116 career appearances with 39 starts, helping the Eagles to the conference regular-season titles in both 2007-08 and 08-09.

Off the court, Nusseibeh served as the president of the schools Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during her senior season, and was a womens basketball team representative to that committee throughout her undergraduate career. She also participated in the Womens Basketball Coaches Associations So You Want to Be a Coach program.

A native of Uniontown, Ohio, Nusseibeh attended Hoover H.S. in North Canton, playing basketball for the storied Vikings program.

She graduated cum laude from AU in 2009, earning her bachelors degree in International Relations/International Business. She received her masters degree in Business Administration from Cincinnati in May of 2011.

Monique Rosati enters her seventh season as an integral part of the BGSU womens basketball program. Rosati is the Director of Operations for the uber-successful Falcons, performing a veritable plethora of duties and helping the team to at least 24 wins in each of her first six years, and Mid-Amer-ican Conference titles in five of those six seasons.

I am thrilled to have Monique remain as a member of the Bowling Green womens basketball fam-ily, said Jennifer Roos, who retained Rosati on her staff when she assumed the head-coaching position in the spring of 2012. Throughout her tenure, she has been extremely instrumental in our continued success in the classroom and on the court. She and her husband have become fixtures in this community and their commitment to BGSU is unwavering.

Rosatis day-to-day duties include handling all aspects of team travel and all film exchange for the program, while assisting the coaching staff with academic coordination and daily operations within the Falcons basketball office.

BGSU won MAC titles and advanced to national postseason play in each of Rosatis first five years with the program. Since her arrival in Northwest Ohio in August of 2007, the Falcons have posted an overall record of 158-43 (78.6%) and a mark of 80-16 (83.3%) in MAC regular-season matches. BGSU played national postseason tournament games at Anderson Arena in each of her first two seasons -- beating Dayton in the 2008 WNIT, and facing Syracuse and Indiana in that tourney at The House That Roars in 2009 -- and made trips to the NCAA Champion-ships in both 2010 and 11. The Falcons earned the MACs automatic bid to the WNIT in 2012, hosting a first-round game, and the Brown and Orange won two WNIT contests at the Stroh Center in March of 2013.

Rosati, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., worked with former BGSU head coach Curt Miller at Syracuse University, where she served as a manager for the womens basketball team from 1994-2001. Miller was an assistant coach at Syracuse during the 1994-98 seasons, before spending 11 years as the Falcons head coach.

Rosati was named the head manager in 1996 and was responsible for tasks pertaining to statistics, video coordination, and public appearances while working towards the completion of a dual undergraduate program in International Relations and Spanish. Rosati continued her tenure with the Oranges staff as she pursued a masters degree from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.

Her ties to Bowling Green basketball also include a link to current Falcons head mens basketball coach Louis Orr who was an assistant with the Syracuse mens team from 1996-2000.

In December of 2010, Rosati earned her MBA degree with an Accounting specialization.

Rosatis husband, Clayton, a fellow Syracuse alum, is an associate professor in BGSUs School of Media and Communication. The couple resides in Bowling Green.
