Some of our spring car care tips are designed to inform you of repairs that might be needed after several months of harsh winter driving and others are routine car care maintenance items that you should be doing every few months throughout the year.

• Check the tires – as the weather transitions from winter to spring, it is crucial to check your tires’ pressure because it changes about 1 pound per square inch for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit change in temperature.

• Rotate tires - You can extend the life of your tires significantly & reduce wear by rotating your tires every 5,000-6,000 miles.

• Undercarriage road salt – Road salt can damage your vehicle’s undercarriage by eating away or corroding the metal. A thorough exterior cleaning of your car will take care of this.

• Change oil & filter - Change to a heavier oil that will help your vehicle’s engine perform more efficiently during warmer weather.

• Flush and fill cooling system – Automotive experts recommend flushing every 2 years; this is cheap insurance against engine failure.

• Check radiator and gas caps – To prevent loosely fitting caps due to corrosion & deterioration, you should replace your radiator and gas caps as often as you flush the cooling system. Check battery and plugs – Spark plugs fire as many as 3 million times every 1,000 miles, so make sure your battery posts and connections are clean.

• Wiper blades – The winter weather delivers a beating to your wiper blades, so wipe away dirt, debris, salt, and gravel spray. Additionally, your wiper blades may have dried out, so make sure they are still in full contact with your windshield.

• Clean the interior – Take some time to spring clean and de-clutter the interior of your car. It is easy to use your car as a storage closet during cold winter months because you don’t feel like cleaning during freezing temperatures.
