OverviewRead this manual thoroughly tobecome familiar with how thenavigation system operates.

The navigation system includesnavigation and audio functions.

Keeping your eyes on the road andyour mind on the drive is importantfor safe driving. The navigationsystem has built-in featuresintended to help with this bydisabling some features whendriving. A grayed-out function is notavailable when the vehicle ismoving.

All functions are available when thevehicle is parked. Do the followingbefore driving:. Become familiar with the

navigation system operation,buttons on the faceplate, andtouch-sensitive screen buttons.

. Set up the audio by presettingfavorite stations, setting thetone, and adjusting thespeakers.

. Set up the navigation features,such as entering an address or apreset destination.

. Set up phone numbers inadvance so they can be calledeasily by pressing a single



button or a single voicecommand for navigation systemsequipped with phone capability.

{ WARNING

Taking your eyes off the road toolong or too often while using thenavigation system could cause acrash and you or others could beinjured or killed. Focus yourattention on driving and limitglances at the moving map on thenavigation screen. Use voiceguidance whenever possible.

Use the navigation system to:. Plan a route.. Select a destination using

various methods and choices.. Follow turn-by-turn route and

map guidance with voiceprompts, only if permitted bytraffic laws, controls, andconditions.

. Receive RDS broadcastannouncements.

Always be alert and obey traffic androadway laws and instructions,regardless of the guidance from thenavigation system. Because thenavigation system uses street mapinformation that does not include alltraffic restrictions or the latest roadchanges, it may suggest using aroad that is now closed forconstruction or a turn that isprohibited by signs at theintersection. Always evaluatewhether following the system'sdirections is safe and legal for thecurrent conditions.

When the navigation system isturned on, a screen may appearwith information that must be readand acknowledged before accessingsome navigation features.

After acknowledging the start upinformation, the NAV (Navigation)and DEST (Destination) functionsare accessible. Information can now

be entered or deleted, and otherfunctions accessed. Seeinstructions later in this section.

Every 50 times the vehicle is startedand the navigation system is turnedon, the Caution screen appears.After reading the caution, selectAgree to load the map DVDinformation. If Agree is not selected,all control buttons except for NAV(Navigation) and DEST(Destination) can be accessed.

When getting started, set yourpreferences or delete information inthe navigation system using variousoptions.

To change the language of theprompts that appear on thenavigation screens, see “DriverInformation Center (DIC)” in theowner manual.

Deleting Personal Information

This navigation system can recordand store destinations. You maywant to delete stored destinationswhen the vehicle is sold or the leasehas expired. Refer to the followingsections to delete the destinationinformation that has been stored.

See “Memory Points,” “Home,”“Previous Destination,” and “PresetDestination” under Stored Locationson page 45 for deleting storeddestinations.

Storing Radio Station Presets

To set preset radio stations:

1. Press the power/volume knob toturn the system on.



2. Press SRCE and select thedesired band (AM, FM1, FM2,XM1, or XM2 (if equipped)).

3. UserO SEEKq to tune tothe desired station.

4. Press and hold one of the sixpreset screen buttons, at thebottom of the screen, until abeep is heard or the station isdisplayed on the selected presetbutton.

5. Repeat the steps for eachpreset.

See “Preset Station Menu” underAM-FM Radio on page 12.

Setting the Clock

To set the time:


2. Press and hold the time displayin the upper right corner of anyscreen.

3. Select the 12H or 24H screenbutton to display the time instandard or military time.

4. Press and hold the Hour andMin. (minute) arrow buttons toincrease or to decrease the time.

5. Select the correct time zonescreen button.

6. Select the Daylight Saving Timescreen button, if necessary.

The radio uses the GPS satellite toset the time. The vehicle needs tobe in an open area to receive thesignal. See “Clock” under AM-FMRadio on page 12.

Setting the Region, Enteringan Address and Point ofInterest, and Storing a HomeDestination and PresetDestinations

Before entering an Address, Point ofInterest, Home, or PresetDestination, select the correct

region that contains the finaldestination. The vehicle must bestopped to do this operation.

Setting the Region

To set the region:

1. If the radio is already on with amap disc inserted, skip toStep 5.


3. Insert the DVD map disc. See“Installing the DVD Map Disc”under Maps on page 63.

4. A Caution may appear. PressAgree to proceed.

5. Press NAV.

6. Press MENU, located on thescreen.

7. Press A (Enter Destination).

8. Press the Region screen button.

9. Select the correct numberedregion that contains your finaldestination.



The system returns to the EnterDestination menu. See EnterDestination on page 32.

Entering an Address

To set a destination by entering astreet address:





5. Press NAV.

6. Press MENU, located on thescreen.

7. Press A. Verify that the selectedRegion is correct.

8. Press2 (Address).

9. Enter the street name using thealpha keypad on the screen.

Do not enter street direction (i.e.N, S.E., or W) information ortype of street (i.e. road, lane,or court) to the address. Use thespace symbol screen button(U) between street or citynames. Use the backspace (V)screen button if an incorrectcharacter has been entered.

10. Select the type of street (Dr.,Ln., St., etc.) if it applies, fromthe list.

11. If there is more than one city,the system displays the list ofcities that have a street withthat name. Select a city fromthe list or select the InputName screen button to enterthe city name.

12. Enter the house number usingthe numeric keypad on thescreen and press OK.

A map screen appears with thedestination marked.

13. Select h (Destination).

14. Select the Guide screenbutton.

15. Once driving begins, an audioprompt “Proceed to thehighlighted route” is heard. Thevehicle is now in routeguidance mode.

Entering a Point of Interest (POI)

To set a destination by entering aPoint of Interest (POI):





5. Press NAV.



6. Press the MENU screen button.

7. Press A. Verify that the selectedRegion is correct.

8. PressK (Point of Interest).

9. Enter the specific title of the POIin the Name space using thealpha keypad on the screen.

10. Select the POI from the list.

11. If there is more than one city,the system displays the list ofcities that have a street withthat name. Select a city fromthe list or select the InputName screen button to inputthe city name.


12. Select h (Destination).


14. Once driving begins an audioprompt “Proceed to thehighlighted route” is heard. Thevehicle is now in routeguidance mode.

Using the Category or Cityselections to help find the POI bylimiting the search options. See“Point of Interest (POI)” under EnterDestination on page 32.

Storing a Home Destination





5. Press NAV.


7. Press N (Stored Locations).

8. Press L (Home).

9. Press the Add screen button.

10. Press Address and enter alladdress information.

11. Press OK.


12. Press OK.

13. Press the back arrow screenbutton.

The L is highlighted on theEnter Destination screen. See“Using Your Home or PresetDestinations” later in thissection.

9. Press the Add screen button,then select the numbered presetbutton for the destination toappear as.

10. Press Address and enter alladdress information.

Using Your Home or PresetDestinations

These destinations are available forselection while driving.

11. Once driving begins an audioprompt “Proceed to thehighlighted route” is heard. Thevehicle is now in routeguidance mode.

Canceling Guidance

Guidance is canceled once youarrive at the final destination. Tocancel guidance prior to arrival atthe final destination:

1. Press NAV to access the mapscreen.

2. Press the MENU screen buttonon the map screen.

3. Press E (Route Options).

4. Press Cancel Guidance.



5. Press Yes to confirmcancellation.

Stored Locations

Once a destination has been stored,the address information can then beedited and deleted. See StoredLocations on page 45 for moreinformation on other features thatcan be stored, edited, and deleted.

To delete the stored homedestination:




If the radio is already on with amap disc inserted, press NAV.


5. Press N.

6. Press L.

7. Press Delete.

8. A confirmation pop-up screenappears: select Yes to delete;select No to cancel theoperation.

To delete a waypoint or a storedpreset destination:




If the radio is already on with amap disc inserted, press NAV.

6. Press$ (Dest. & Way Pt.) orB (Previous Dest.).

7. Press Delete, then select theway point or the numberedpreset button to delete.

8. A confirmation pop-up screenappears: select Yes to delete;select No to cancel theoperation.

Guidance Volume

To adjust the volume of voiceguidance prompts:

1. Press NAV to access the mapscreen.

2. Press the MENU screen buttonon the map screen.

3. PressI (Navigation Set Up).

4. Press > (Guidance Volume).

5. Select the desired volume orselect Off. The system playsback the new volume level.

See “Guidance Volume” underNavigation Set Up on page 54.

Cleaning the Display

If the panel or the display is stained,wipe it with a dry, soft cloth.



Notice: Using abrasive cleanerswhen cleaning glass surfacescould scratch the glass. Use onlya soft cloth and do not spraycleaner directly on the system asit could affect the mechanicalparts.

Do not apply spray cleaner directlyto the system, the cleaner couldaffect the mechanical parts.

Do not wipe the panel with a hardcloth or use a liquid that couldignite, such as thinner or alcohol, itcould scratch the surface or erasethe characters.

Radio

AM-FM RadioNotice: Before adding any soundequipment to the vehicle, such asan audio system, CD player, CBradio, mobile telephone,or two-way radio, make sure thatit can be added by checking withyour dealer. Also, check federalrules covering mobile radio andtelephone units. If soundequipment can be added, it isvery important to do it properly.Added sound equipment caninterfere with the operation of thevehicle's engine, radio, or othersystems, and even damage them.The vehicle's systems caninterfere with the operation ofsound equipment that has beenadded.

Notice: The chime signals relatedto safety belts, parking brake, andother functions of the vehicleoperate through the navigationsystem. If that equipment is

replaced or additional equipmentis added to the vehicle, thechimes may not work. Make surethat replacement or additionalequipment is compatible with thevehicle before installing it. See“Accessories and Modifications”in the vehicle's owner manual.

Your vehicle has a feature calledRetained Accessory Power (RAP).RAP lets the audio system play afterthe ignition is turned off. See“Retained Accessory Power (RAP)”in the owner manual.

The audio system operates usingthe navigation system menus.

Playing the Radio

Power/Volume Knob: Press toturn the audio system on and off.Turn to increase or decrease thevolume to the audio system.

rO SEEKq :. Press and hold the up or down

arrow until a beep is heard to goto the next or previous stationand stay there.



. Press and hold either arrow toperform a fast seek.

SRCE (Source): Press to displaythe main audio screen.

Audio Adjust Screen

e /z (Audio/Adjust Screen):Press to view the audio and screensettings.

Automatic Volume Control(AVC): The audio system adjustsautomatically with AVC to make up

for road and wind noise whiledriving. The volume increases asvehicle speed increases.

To use AVC, set the volume to thedesired level and then press ON. Toturn AVC off, select OFF.

If your vehicle is equipped with aBose® sound system, it includesBose AudioPilot® noisecompensation technology. Whenturned ON, AudioPilot continuouslyadjusts the audio systemequalization to compensate forbackground noise, so that yourmusic always sounds the same atthe set volume level.

This feature works best at lowervolume settings where backgroundnoise may mask the audio. Athigher volume settings, where theaudio is much louder than the noise,there may be little or no change inthe audio level. For additionalinformation on AudioPilot, visitwww.bose.com/audiopilot.

To use this feature, set the volumeto the desired level and then pressON. To turn it off, select OFF.

Preset selection: This featureprograms local presets that arerecalled by pressing HOME. Presetscan also be programmed whiletraveling to another area and can bestored under the AWAY setting. See“Preset Station Menu” later in thissection.

Color Scheme: Select this featureto change the color of audio andnavigation screens. Press any of the



color options to view the differentbackgrounds. Color option 1 is thedefault option.

Clock

Press G at the bottom of the audio/adjust screen or press and hold thetime display in the upper rightcorner of any menu to access theCLOCK ADJUST menu. Pressingthe time display also displays thedate on the status bar at the top ofthe screen.

The following time options can beadjusted from this menu:

Hour/Min.:. Press the up or down arrows to

increase or decrease the hour orminutes.

. Press and hold either arrow toadvance quickly.

12H/24H: Press 12H to display thetime in standard time, or 24H todisplay the time in military time.

GPS TIME: The current GPS timeis displayed to the right of thisbutton. Press GPS TIME to set thenavigation system's time to matchcurrent GPS time.

Daylight Saving Time: Press thisscreen button to increase the timesetting by one hour, then press GPSTIME to save the new setting. If thescreen button is light blue, thedaylight savings time feature is on.If the screen button is dark blue, thedaylight savings time feature is off.

TIME ZONE: The selected timezone appears to the right of thisscreen button. Press TIME ZONE totoggle through the available timezones until the desired time zone ishighlighted. The time of the selectedzone is displayed to the right ofGPS TIME. To set the system clockto the new setting, pressGPS TIME.

If the system is not receiving GPSinformation, the time can still be setmanually as described above, butGPS TIME and Daylight SavingTime features are not available.

Press the back screen button to goback to the previous menu.

Screen Adjust

To adjust the contrast or brightnessof the screen, press SCREENADJUST at the bottom of the audio/adjust screen.



The following screen options canadjusted from this menu:

_ CONTRAST: Press + or − toadjust the contrast. The screenchanges. Press OK to confirm thechange.

! BRIGHTNESS: Press + or − toadjust the brightness. Press OK toconfirm the change.

AUTO: This setting automaticallyadjusts the contrast and brightnessof the screen based on outsidelighting conditions.

DAY: This setting leaves the screenin day mode, which is best suited fordaylight conditions.

NIGHT: This setting leaves thescreen in night mode, which is bestsuited for nighttime conditions.

SCREEN OFF: Press to turn off thescreen. Press the NAV, SRCE, or e/z (Audio/Adjust) control buttons toturn the screen back on.

OK: Press to save changes andexit this menu.

SOUND: Press to access theSOUND menu. See “Sound Menu”later in this section.

Finding a Station

Press SRCE to display theoperation screen of the currentaudio source. Each operationscreen has an audio source screenbutton, (AM, FM1, FM2, XM1, XM2,if equipped, and CD). Press thedesired audio source to select it.

Preset Station Menu

Up to 30 stations, six AM, six FM1,six FM2, six XM1, and six XM2,if equipped, can be programmed forhome and for away (XM does nothave the home and away feature).To store presets:

1. Turn the audio system on.

2. Press SRCE.

3. Press AM, FM1, FM2, XM1,or XM2, if equipped, to displaythe desired source. The presetstation menu appears.



4. Tune to the desired station byusingrO SEEKq.

5. Press SOUND to set the bass,mid-range, treble, and Auto ToneControl (ATC) for the preset,if desired. See “Sound Menu”later in this section.

6. Press and hold one of the sixnumbered preset screen buttonsfor more than two seconds untila beep is heard.

7. Repeat the steps for each presetand source.

SCAN:. Press to scan stations. The radio

goes to a station, plays for a fewseconds, then goes to the nextstation.

. Press SCAN again to stopscanning.

. Press and hold SCAN fortwo seconds to scan presetstations. It will only scan theaudio source it is in, with the

exception of FM 1 and FM 2,which will both be scanned if inthat source.

. Press SCAN again to stopscanning.

RDS (Radio Data System): See“Radio Data System (RDS)” in thissection.

INFO (Information): See “RadioData System (RDS)” in this section.

AutoSet:

1. Press this screen button toreplace currently stored presetstations with the strongeststations available in theimmediate area.

2. Press it again to return to theoriginal preset stations.

SOUND: See “Sound Menu”following in this section.

Sound Menu

Press SOUND at the bottom of themain audio screen or source menuto change the tone, ATC, fade, and

balance for all sources. The audiosystem has a separate setting forthese features for each sourcepreset. However, the audio systemkeeps one fade and one balancesetting for all audio sources.

To adjust sound settings:. Press the + or − signs to adjust

TREBLE, MID (Mid-range), andBASS, if in the Manual modeof ATC.

. Press the L (Left) or R (Right) toadjust the balance of thespeakers.



. Press the F (Front) or R (Rear)to adjust the fade of thespeakers.

. Press the ATC screen button toadjust the ATC setting. See“Adjusting the Speakers” later inthis section.

After adjustments are made, press4 to go back to the preset stationmenu. Whenever4 is pressed, thepreviously stored information thatwas entered for each preset stationis recalled.

Adjusting the Speakers

ATC (Auto Tone Control): TheATC feature is used to provide achoice of six different listeningexperiences. ATC can be usedwhile listening to the audio systemor the CD player. The audio systemcan store separate ATC settings foreach source and preset station.

To save ATC settings for the presetstations, use the SOUND menu andpress ATC. See “Preset Stations”earlier in this section.

Radio Data System (RDS)

The audio system has a Radio DataSystem (RDS). RDS features areavailable for use only on FMstations that broadcast RDSinformation. With RDS, theradio can:. Seek to stations broadcasting

the selected type ofprogramming.

. Receive announcementsconcerning local and nationalemergencies.

. Display messages from radiostations.

. Seek to stations with trafficannouncements.

RDS (Radio Data System): PressRDS to use alternate RDS functionslocated in the preset menu. Afterpressing RDS, quickly choose RDSON/OFF, TA, INFO, PTY, or SelectPTY. If a selection is not made, thesystem returns to theprevious menu.



If tuned to a station broadcastingRDS information, the station'sProgram Service (PS) and ProgramType (PTY) replace the station'sfrequency on the status line at thetop of the display. After aboutfive seconds, if available, the PTY isreplaced on the display by thestation's PTY name. The PTY andPTY name can be the same ordifferent.

If the audio system is tuned to astation that is not broadcasting RDSinformation, the station's frequencyremains on the display.

The RDS feature relies uponreceiving specific information fromRDS stations. These features onlywork when RDS information isavailable.

TA (Traffic Announcement): PressTA to receive trafficannouncements. TA displays if thecurrent station broadcasts trafficannouncements. If the currentstation does not broadcast trafficannouncements, the audio system

seeks to a station that does andstops. If no station is found, TAturns off.

While a traffic announcement plays,the audio system uses TA volume.To increase TA volume, use theVOL up or down buttons during theannouncement. See “GuidanceVolume” under Navigation Set Upon page 54.

When a traffic announcementcomes on the current radio station,it can be heard even if the volume ismuted or a CD is playing. If the CDplayer was being used, the CDstays in the player and resumesplay at the point where it stopped.

Press RDS followed by TA again toturn TA off.

INFO (Information): When RDS ison, if the current station has amessage, INFO displays. PressINFO from the preset menu to viewthe message. If the whole messagedoes not display, parts of themessage appear everythree seconds until the message is

completed. Once the completemessage has been displayed, INFOdisappears from the display untilanother new message is received.INFO remains available so that theentire message an be displayedagain.

PTY (Program Type): PTY onlyseeks stations with certain programtypes. This button is used to turn onand off Program Type (PTY)features.

With RDS on, press RDS, followedby PTY. The PTY display turns on.Press RDS followed by this buttonagain to turn the PTY display off.

Select PTY (Select ProgramType): With RDS and PTY on,press RDS, then Select PTY. ThePTY menu appears. Use the up anddown arrows to select a PTY.

When the PTY display is on, pressrO SEEKq or SCAN to findradio stations of the PTY selected.The last PTY selected is used forseek and scan modes. If a stationwith the selected PTY is not found,



STATION NOT FOUND displays.If both PTY and TA are on, theaudio system searches for stationswith traffic announcements and theselected PTY.

PTY (Program Type) Presets: Thesix presets let you return to yourfavorite PTYs. These presets havefactory PTY preset stations. Up to12 PTYs, six FM1 and six FM2 canbe set. To save a PTY preset:

1. Press FM1 or FM2.

2. Press RDS to enter theRDS menu.

3. Press RDS ON/OFF to turnRDS on.

4. Press PTY.

5. Press Select PTY and select thedesired PTY from the list.

6. Press and hold one of the sixpresets for more thantwo seconds until a beep isheard. When you press thatnumbered preset for less thantwo seconds, the set PTYreturns.

7. Repeat the steps for eachpreset.

Press the stored PTY preset stationfor less than two seconds to recallit. Then userO SEEKq orSCAN to locate a station for thatPTY selection.

ALERT: This type ofannouncement warns of national orlocal emergencies and cannot beturned off. ALERT displays while analert announcement plays. Theaudio system uses TA volumeduring these announcements. Toincrease volume, use the VOL upand down buttons during theannouncement. See “VoiceGuidance Volume Settings” underNavigation Set Up on page 54.When an alert announcementcomes on the tuned radio station, itwill be heard even if the volume ismuted or a CD is playing. If the CDplayer is playing, the player stopsfor the announcement and resumeswhen the announcement is finished.

Home and Away PresetStations

If the vehicle has this feature, theaudio system settings that wereadjusted the last time the vehiclewas operated can be recalled. Thisfeature allows two different driversto store and recall their own audiosystem settings. The adjustedsettings are recalled by the audiosystem and are determined bywhich Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)transmitter (1 or 2) that was used toenter the vehicle. The number onthe back of the RKE transmittercorresponds to driver 1 or todriver 2.

The audio system can store HOMEand AWAY preset stations. HOMEand AWAY preset stations allow theuse of one set of preset radiosettings in a local area, and anotherset not in the local broadcast area.This eliminates the need toreprogram preset stations whiletraveling out of the area.



To select HOME and AWAY presetstations:

1. Press AUDIO to enter the audioscreen.

2. Press the HOME or AWAYbutton.

The next time the audio systemis turned on, the system recallsthe last active preset selection.

If the vehicle loses battery power,the local preset stations do not haveto be reset. However, the non-localpreset stations must be reset.

Satellite Radio

XM™ Satellite Radio Service

XM is a satellite radio service basedin the 48 contiguous United Statesand 10 Canadian provinces. XMSatellite Radio has a wide variety ofprogramming and commercial-freemusic, coast to coast, and indigital-quality sound. During yourtrial or when you subscribe, you willget unlimited access to XM RadioOnline for when you are not in the

vehicle. A service fee is required toreceive the XM service. For moreinformation, contact XM atwww.xmradio.com or1-800-929-2100 in the U.S., andwww.xmradio.ca or1-877-438-9677 in Canada.

INFO (Information): Press INFOwhile in XM mode to retrieve variouspieces of information related to thecurrent song or channel. Bypressing INFO, four differentcategories of information can beretrieved that cycle through: ArtistName/Feature, Song/Program Title,Channel Category, and otherAdditional Information that may bebroadcast on that channel.Additional Information messagesmay only be available at certaintimes or on certain programs. If anAdditional Information message isbeing broadcast on the tunedchannel, INFO displays.

Each of the four information typesmay have multiple pages of text. Toreach a category, press INFO onceand wait until the desired type

displays. If there are multiple pagesof text for the selected informationtype, the radio automaticallydisplays all the pages for that typeat a rate of about one page everythree seconds before timing out andreturning to the default display.

XM™ Radio Messages

See “XM™ Radio Messages” in theowner manual for a list of possibleXM messages.



Audio Players

CD PlayerTo load/eject a music CD:

1. Turn the ignition on.

2. PressX. This opens thefaceplate of the system.

3. PressXB. If a CD is alreadyloaded, the CD ejects fromthe slot.

4. Gently remove the CD from theslot and return it to its case.

5. Insert the music CD into the slot.The system pulls the disc intothe player.

6. Press and releaseX to closethe faceplate.

When the faceplate is opened, awarning message displays as areminder to close the faceplate assoon as possible.

Playing a CD

Once a music CD is loaded, the CDplayer menu displays.

If the ignition or radio is turned offwhile a CD is in the player, it staysin the player. When the ignition orradio is turned on, the CD starts toplay where it stopped, if it was thelast selected audio source.

As each new track starts to play, thetrack number displays.

The CD player can play the smaller8 cm (3 in) single CDs with anadapter ring. Full-size CDs and thesmaller CDs are loaded in the samemanner.

If playing a CD-R the sound qualitycan be reduced due to CD-R quality,the method of recording, the qualityof the music that has beenrecorded, and the way the CD-Rhas been handled. There can be anincrease in skipping, difficulty infinding tracks, and/or difficulty inloading and ejecting. If theseproblems occur, check the bottom

surface of the CD. If the surface ofthe CD is damaged, such ascracked, broken, or scratched, theCD does not play properly. If thesurface of the CD is soiled, take asoft lint free-cloth, or dampen aclean soft cloth in mild detergentsolution mixed with water, and cleanit. Make sure the wiping processstarts from the center to the edge.

If there is no apparent damage, try aknown good CD.

Notice: If a label is added to aCD, more than one CD is insertedinto the slot at a time, or anattempt is made to play scratchedor damaged CDs, the CD playercould be damaged. While usingthe CD player, use only CDs ingood condition without any label,load one CD at a time, and keepthe CD player and the loading slotfree of foreign materials, liquids,and debris.



A CD with a label could get caughtin the CD player. If a descriptionlabel is needed, label the top of theCD with a soft marker.

If an error displays, see “CD Errors”later in this section.

r (Play): Press to begin playinga CD.

RANDOM:

1. Press to hear the tracks inrandom, rather than sequentialorder on the current CD.

2. PressrO SEEKq torandomly seek through thetracks on this CD.

3. Press RANDOM or RANDOMDISC again to turn offrandom play.

SCAN TRACKS:

1. Press to hear the first10 seconds of each track on thecurrent CD.

2. Press again to stop scanning.The CD mutes while scanning.

REPEAT TRACK: Press to repeatthe selected track. Press again toturn off repeated play.

r (Rewind): Press to rewindquickly through a track selection.

[ (Forward): Press to fast forwardquickly through a track selection.

rO SEEKq :

1. Pressr to seek to the nextselection on the CD. If playingthe last track of the disc, pressr to seek to the first track ofthe disc.

2. If playing the first track of thedisc, pressq to seek to the lasttrack of the disc. The soundmutes while seeking.

3. Press eitherr orq to changethe tracks on an iPod forplayback.

j (Pause):1. Press to pause CD play.

2. Press it again to resume play orpress the play button.

Playing a CD Changer

If the vehicle has the CD changer, itcan play up to six discs. Normalsize discs may be played using thetrays supplied in the magazine. The



smaller 8 cm (3 in) discs can beplayed only with specially designedtrays.

The magazine must be loaded withCDs before one can play. Each ofthe six trays holds one CD.

Load the trays from bottom to top,placing a disc in the tray label sideup. If a CD is loaded with the labelside down, the disc does not playand an error occurs. Repeat thisprocedure for loading up to six discsin the magazine.

Once you have loaded the discs intothe magazine, slide the CD changerdoor open. Push the magazine intothe changer in the direction of thearrow marked on top of themagazine.

Close the door by sliding it all theway to the right. When the door isclosed, the changer beginschecking for discs in the magazine.This continues for up to one and ahalf minutes, depending on thenumber of discs loaded. Noisemight be heard, but this is normal.The CD changer is initializing.

To eject the magazine from theplayer, slide the CD changer door allthe way open. Press EJECT,located inside of the changer door,and the magazine ejects.

Remember to keep the door closedwhenever possible to keep dirt anddust from getting inside the changer.

To eject CDs from the magazine,push the RELEASE switch on thebottom of the magazine.

Press the CD control button toaccess the six-disc CD changerscreen. The system's DVD playerfor single CD play can also be usedonce the map DVD is removed.

If no CD is loaded in the CD/DVDPlayer and CD is pressed, themessage “No CD loaded” displays.



CD Changer Screen

The numbered buttons, 1 through 6,represent the order of the CDsloaded in the changer. If there areonly two CDs loaded, only buttons1 and 2 are available tochoose from.

Many of the buttons describedpreviously in the “Playing a CD”section have the same function asthe CD changer buttons. See“Playing a CD” earlier, for buttondescription.

Some of the buttons that arespecific to the CD changer are:

RANDOM ALL:

1. Press to hear the tracks, on allof the loaded CDs in the CDchanger, in random, rather thansequential order.

2. PressrO SEEKq whileRANDOM ALL is on to randomlyseek within that CD.

3. Press RANDOM ALL again toturn off random play.

SCAN DISCS:

1. Press to hear the first10 seconds of first track on eachloaded CD.

2. Press again to stop scanning.The CD mutes while scanning.

REPEAT DISC:

1. Press to repeat the selected CD.

2. Press REPEAT DISC again toturn off repeat play.

rO SEEKq :

1. Pressr to seek to the nextselection on the CD. If playingthe last track of the CD, pressr to seek to the first track ofthe next CD.

2. Pressq to seek to the previousselection on the CD. If playingthe first track of the CD, pressq to seek to the last track onthe selected CD. The soundmutes while seeking.

Using an MP3

MP3 Format

When creating an MP3 disc, thefollowing is a list of guidelines.If these guidelines are not followedwhile recording a CD-R(W), the CDmay not play.. ID3 tag information is displayed

by the radio if it is available. Theradio supports ID3 taginformation v1.0 or v1.1. The



radio displays a filename, songname, artist name, album name,and directory name.

. A Maximum of 31 characters,including spaces, in a file orfolder name.

. Maximum number of folders is500 with 500 files with amaximum hierarchy of eightfolders. It is recommended tokeep the depth of folders to aminimum in order to keep downthe complexity and confusion intrying to locate a particular folderduring playback.

. Create a folder structure thatmakes it easy to find songswhile driving. Organize songs byalbums using one folder for eachalbum. Each folder or albumshould contain 18 songs or less.

. The files can be recorded on aCD-R or CD-RW with amaximum capacity of 700MB.

. DVD with MP3 are not playableon this system.

. The radio does not play a mixedmode CD-R/RW, a disc recordedwith both *.cda and *.mp3 files.

. The player supports a disc withmultiple sessions, but it is notrequired that the disc befinalized. It is recommended torecord the disc all at once.

. Recording format mode 2 ormode 2XA with Romeo or Jolietfile system is not supported withthis player.

. All applicable Mode 1 recordingformats are supported.

. MPEG 2.5 is not supported withthis player. File formats MPEG1 and MPEG 2 with all bit rates(including variable) except lessthan 16kbps are supported withthis player.

. Long files or folder names or acombination of a large number offiles and folders could cause theplayer to be unable to play up tothe maximum number of files orfolders or affect the readingspeed and time to play.

Playing an MP3

Many of the buttons describedpreviously in the “Playing a CD”section have the same function asthe MP3 buttons. See “Playing aCD” earlier, for button description.

Some of the buttons specific toplaying an MP3 are:

TRACK SELECT:

1. Select to display the MP3 folder/file structure.



2. Use the up/down arrows to scrollthrough the list.

3. Select the folder or track to play.Press4 to go back to the mainscreen.

HOME: Select to go to the Homefolder. This is the folder on the discthat contains the current track that isplaying.

# (Folder Up): Select to go to theprevious folder.

rO SEEKq :

1. Pressr to seek to the nexttrack on a disc. If playing the lasttrack, pressr to seek to thefirst track of the current folder.

2. Pressq to go to the beginningof the current track or to theprevious track on a disc.If playing the first track, pressq to seek to the last track ofthe current folder.

CD Errors

CD ERROR could display for thefollowing:. The road is too rough. The CD

should play when the road issmoother.

. The CD is dirty, scratched, wet,or not loaded label side up.

. The air is very humid. If so, waitabout an hour and try again.

If any error occurs repeatedly or ifan error cannot be corrected,contact your dealer.

Vehicles with audio controls havesome controls that can be adjustedat the steering wheel. See “SteeringWheel Controls” in the ownermanual.

Connecting a USB StorageDevice or iPod®

The USB port, located in the centerconsole, can be used to control aniPod or a USB storage device.

To avoid connection problems,extension cords are notrecommended. Use only the cablethat came with the device.

To connect a USB storage device,connect the device to the USB portlocated in the center console.

To connect an iPod, connect oneend of the USB cable that camewith the iPod to the iPod’s dockconnector and connect the otherend to the USB port. If the vehicle ison and the USB connection works,“OK to disconnect” may appear onthe iPod and iPod appears on theradio's display. The iPod musicappears on the radio’s display andbegins playing.

The iPod charges while it isconnected to the vehicle if theignition is on or in the accessoryposition. When the vehicle is turnedoff, the iPod automatically powersoff and will not charge or drawpower from the vehicle's battery.



USB Supported File and FolderStructure

The guidelines that must be metwhile using USB supported files andfolders are:. Up to 699 folders.. Up to eight folders in depth.. Up to 65,535 files.. Folder and file names up to

64 bytes.. Files with an .mp3, .wma,

or .m4a file extension.. AAC files stored on an iPod.. FAT16.. FAT32.

Some files may restart at thebeginning of the track after thevehicle has been turned off andthen turned back on again.

Playing from an iPod®

This feature supports the followingiPod models:. iPod (5th generation)

Video streaming or album art willnot be supported from the iPod.

For proper operation, make sure theiPod has the latest firmware fromApple®. iPod firmware can beupdated using the latest iTunes®application.

To connect and control an iPod,connect one end of the standardiPod USB cable to the iPod's dockconnector. Connect the other end tothe USB port, located in the centerconsole.

iPod music information displays onthe radio’s display and beginsplaying through the vehicle’s audiosystem.

The iPod battery rechargesautomatically while the ignition is onor in the accessory position. Whenthe ignition is turned off while aniPod is connected using the iPodUSB cable, the iPod battery stopscharging and the iPod automaticallyturns off.

If the iPod is a model that is notsupported, it can still be listened toin the vehicle by connecting it to theauxiliary input jack using a standard3.5 mm (1/8 in) stereo cable. SeeAuxiliary Devices on page 30.



iPod Music Menu

Once the iPod has been connected,the main music menu appears.

Press TRACK SELECT to displaythe available selections:

Playlists:

1. Press to view the playlists thathave been stored on the iPod.

2. Select a playlist name to view alist of all songs in the playlist.

3. Select the desired song from thelist. Once a song has beenselected, the Folder Up screenbutton will, return you to theprevious screen. The smallreturn arrow located on theupper right side of the main

screen, under the Folder Upscreen button will return you tothe iPod main menu.

Artists:

1. Press to view the artists thathave been stored on the iPod.

2. Select an artist name to view alist of all songs by the artist.

3. Select the desired song from thelist. Once a song has beenselected, the Folder Up screenbutton, will return you to theprevious screen. The4 locatedon the upper right-side of themain screen, under the FolderUp screen button will return youto the iPod main menu.

Albums:

1. Press to view the albums thathave been stored on the iPod.

2. Select an album name to view alist of all songs on the album.

3. Select the desired song from thelist. Once a song has beenselected, the Folder Up screen



button, will return you to theprevious screen. The4 locatedon the upper right side of themain screen, under the FolderUp screen button, will return youto the iPod main menu.

Genres:

1. Press to view the genres thathave been stored on the iPod.

2. Select a genre name to view alist of all songs of that genre.

3. Select the desired song from thelist. Once a song has beenselected, the Folder Up screenbutton, will return you to theprevious screen. The4 locatedon the upper right side of themain screen, under the FolderUp screen button, will return youto the iPod main menu.

Composers:

1. Press to view the composersthat have been stored onthe iPod.

2. Select a composer name to viewa list of all songs of thatcomposer.


Songs:

1. Press to view a list of songs thathave been stored on the iPod.


Podcasts:

1. Press to view the podcasts thathave been stored on the iPod.

2. Select a name to view a list of allpodcasts of that genre.

3. Select the desired podcast fromthe list. Once a podcast hasbeen selected, the Folder Upscreen button will return you tothe previous screen. The4located on the upper right side ofthe main screen, under theFolder Up screen button, willreturn you to the iPodmain menu.

Podcasts will only appear as a validcategory if this option is on the iPod.

Eject iPod: Press to remove theiPod. If the iPod is disconnectedwithout selecting this button, thefiles on the iPod could be corrupted.



Auxiliary DevicesThe navigation system has anauxiliary input jack located on theright side of the faceplate. This isnot an audio output; do not plug theheadphone set into the frontauxiliary input jack. You can,however, connect an external audiodevice such as an iPod, laptopcomputer, MP3 player, CD changer,or cassette tape player, etc. to theauxiliary input jack for use asanother source for audio listening.

Drivers are encouraged to set upany auxiliary device while thevehicle is in P (Park). See“Defensive Driving” in the ownermanual for more information ondriver distraction.

If the vehicle has rear audio/videoinput jacks, located in the rear of thecenter console, they can be used asanother source for audio/videolistening.

To use a portable audio player,connect a 3.5 mm (1/8 in) cable tothe auxiliary input jack. When a

device is connected, the system willdetect and automatically beginplaying audio from the device overthe vehicle's speakers.

If a device is connected and you arelistening to another source (FM, CD,MP3, etc.), press the AUX screenbutton located on the left side of thescreen. If AUX is not a selection,press the down arrow until the AUXscreen button does appear.

Navigation

Using the NavigationSystemThis section has basic informationon how to operate the navigationsystem.

Use the buttons located on thenavigation system along with theavailable touch-screen buttons onthe navigation screen to operate thesystem. See Overview on page 4.

Once the vehicle is moving, somefunctions are disabled to reducedriver distractions.

Navigation Buttons

The following buttons are located onthe faceplate of the navigationsystem:

X (Open/Close Faceplate): Pressthis button, located at the bottom ofthe Navigation Screen, to open orclose the faceplate.



XB (Eject CD): Press the ejectCD button, located next to the CDloading slot, to eject CDs. See CDPlayer on page 21.

X DVD (Eject Map DatabaseDVD): Press this button, locatednext to the DVD loading slot, toeject the map DVD. See “Installingthe DVD Map Disc” under Maps onpage 63.

Power/Volume Knob: Press toturn the audio and navigationsystems on and off. Turn to increaseor decrease the volume to the audiosystem.

g (Voice Recognition): Press toactivate the voice recognitionsystem. See Voice Recognition onpage 73.

NAV (Navigation): Press to accessthe map screen. If this button ispressed when a map screen isdisplayed and while in routeguidance, the system repeats thelast voice command.

SRCE (Source): Press to accessthe audio source screen. SeeAM-FM Radio on page 12 orSatellite Radio on page 20.

e /z (Audio/Screen Adjust):Press to access the Audio Adjustand Screen Adjust screens. SeeAM-FM Radio on page 12 orSatellite Radio on page 20.

rO SEEKq : Press thearrows to go to the next or previousradio station and stay there, or totune in a station. See AM-FM Radioon page 12 or Satellite Radio onpage 20.

Alpha-Numeric Keypad

Letters of the alphabet, symbols,punctuation, and numbers aredisplayed on the navigation screenas an alpha or numeric keypad. Thealpha keypad displays when a cityor street name needs to be entered.Touch the Sym. (symbol) screenbutton at the bottom of the alphakeypad to access the numerickeypad when entering a house

address, punctuation mark, or othercharacter. Touch A–Z to return tothe alpha keypad.

All characters are touch-sensitivescreen buttons. Touch a characterto select it.

U (Space): Press to enter aspace between characters or thewords of a name.

V (Back space): Press if anincorrect character has beenselected.

To make name selections easier,the system only lets you select acharacter that can follow the lastone entered. For example, if a Z isentered, a T is not available toselect. The system highlights theavailable characters.

If a name does not display after it isentered, it may need to be entereddifferently, the map DVD databasemay not contain that information,or the correct search area has notbeen selected. See DatabaseCoverage Explanations on page 73.



Touch-Sensitive Buttons

Touch-sensitive buttons are locatedon the screen. When a screenbutton has been selected, a beepsounds. These buttons arehighlighted when a feature isavailable. There are also sometoggle screen buttons that are lightin color when active.

Keyless Access System

When the vehicle is started, Driver 1or Driver 2 displays on the DriverInformation Center (DIC). Thenumber on the back of the RKEtransmitter corresponds to Driver 1or Driver 2. The navigation systemcan store memory points, audiopresets, system settings, and lastknown audio mode for Driver 1 andDriver 2 individually. See “VehiclePersonalization” in the ownermanual.

Enter Destination

Press A (Enter Destination) toaccess the ENTER DESTINATIONscreen. From this screen, severaloptions are available to plan a routeby entering destination points.

Once a destination entry iscomplete, regardless of whichmethod used, a map screen with thedestination previewed displays.. Change route preferences, route

options, or map appearances,or add a waypoint at this time.

. Set the destination withoutmaking any further changes.See “Getting Started on YourRoute” in this section on yourchoices once a destination hasbeen entered.

This menu has two pages. To viewthe second page, press the 1/2arrow button.

Region

The ENTER DESTINATION screendisplays a map of the United Statesand a part of Canada divided into 11regions.

Before selecting a destination entrymethod, review the search areamap to make sure your destinationis located in the highlighted region.



1. Press Region from the ENTERDESTINATION screen to see alist of states included in thehighlighted region, or to changethe region. The SEARCH AREAscreen displays.

2. Press the numbered screenbutton to the left of the searcharea map that corresponds withthe numbered region you wish toselect or to view a list of statesincluded in that region.

3. Press the down arrow to the leftof the search area map to selectCAN (Canada). Once the regionhas been selected, the region ishighlighted on the map.

4. Press4 to return to theENTER DESTINATION screen.

Address

The address destination entrymethod lets you enter an addressby providing the system with astreet name or city.

2 (Address): Press to access theADDRESS screen. Enter theaddress one of two ways: street firstor city first.

To enter the street name first:

1. Press the Street screen buttonfrom the address menu and startentering the street name usingthe alpha keypad. A list of five orfewer available street namesautomatically displays. Press theList screen button at any time toview the available street names.The box at the end of the Streetentry field contains the numberof street names available in thecurrent generated list.



2. Select the desired street namewith the correct designation (Dr.,Ln,, St., etc.) from the list.

3. If the system determines that thestreet is found in only one citywithin the search area, that cityautomatically is selected.

If there is more than one city, thesystem displays the list of citiesthat have a street with thatname. Select a city from the listor select the Input Name screenbutton to enter the city name.

4. The house number screendisplays. Enter the housenumber using the numerickeypad.

5. Once the correct house numberis selected, press OK.


6. Press h (Destination).

7. Press the Guide screen button.

To enter the city name first:

1. Press the City screen button.

2. Select from the choices shownon the city screen: Any City, 5Nearest Cities, or Input CityName, or from the Last 5Cities used.. Any City — The system

requests input of a streetname, then generates a listof all cities containing thatstreet name. Select a cityfrom the list.

. 5 Nearest Cities — Thesystem displays a list of fivecities closest to yourvehicle's current position.Select a city from the list.

. Input City Name — Thekeypad displays forentering the city name.Enter the city name andthen select the city fromthe list.

. Last 5 Cities — The citynames of the last five citiesthat were stored as aprevious destinationdisplays. Select a city fromthe list.

3. The screen to input the streetname and house numberdisplays. Input the street nameusing the alpha keypad. A list ofavailable street names displaysif there are less than five streetnames available. Select the Listscreen button at any time toview the available street names.The box at the end of the Streetentry field contains the numberof street names available in thecurrent generated list.

4. Select the desired street namewith the correct designation (Dr.,Ln., St., etc.) from the list.

5. The house number screendisplays. Enter the housenumber using the numerickeypad.



Once the correct house numberis selected, a map screenappears with the destinationmarked.

6. Press h.



Point of Interest (POI)

The Point of Interest (POI)destination entry method lets youselect a destination from thePOI list.

K (Point of Interest): Press thisscreen button from the ENTERDESTINATION screen to access thePOINT OF INTEREST screen. Thisscreen has three options to select/input the destination. Either enterthe name of the POI using the alphakeypad, select a category from thecategory list, or select the city byselecting the City screen button.

To input the POI name:

1. Use the alpha keypad to enterthe POI name.

Press Sym. (symbol) to selectsymbols and numbers for thePOI, press Others to selectspecial characters for the POI,or press A–Z to return to thealpha keypad.

A list of POIs appears using theinformation from the alphakeypad input. A list of availablePOIs displays when there areless than five POIs available.Press the List screen button atany time to view theavailable POIs.

2. Select the desired POI fromthe list.

3. If the system determines that thePOI is found in only one citywithin the search area, that cityautomatically is selected.

If there is more than one city, thesystem displays the list of citiesthat have a POI with that name.Select a city from the list orselect the Input Name screenbutton to input the city name.



Once all of the information isselected, a map screen appearswith the destination marked.

4. Press h.



To select a POI from a category:

1. Press Category from the POINTOF INTEREST screen to view alist of POI categories.

2. Select a category, and then asub-category.

3. The system displays availablePOIs in the selectedsub-category, or if the list is toolong, the system displays thealpha keypad.

4. If the alpha keypad is displayed,input the POI name until a list ofavailable POIs appears.

5. Select the POI from the list.

6. If the system determines that thePOI is found in only one citywithin the search area, that cityautomatically is selected.

If there is more than one city, thesystem displays the list of citiesthat have a POI with that name.Select a city from the list orselect the Input Name screenbutton to enter the city name.

Once all of the information isselected, a map screen appearswith the destination marked.

To select a POI by entering acity name:

1. Select the City screen button,then select: Any City, 5 NearestCities, Input City Name, or fromthe Last 5 Cities used.. Any City — The system

requests input of a POIname, then generates a listof all cities containing thatPOI name. Select a cityfrom the list.

. 5 Nearest Cities — Thesystem displays a list of fivecities closest to yourvehicle's current position.Select a city from the list.

. Input City Name — Thekeypad displays forentering the city name.Enter the city name andthen select the city fromthe list.



. Last 5 Cities — The citynames of the last five citiesthat were stored as aprevious destinationdisplay. Select a city fromthe list.

2. Use the alpha keypad to enterthe POI name.

Press Sym. (symbol) to selectsymbols and numbers for thePOI, press Others to selectspecial characters for the POI,or press A–Z to return to thealpha keypad.

3. A list of POIs appears using theinformation from the alphakeypad input. A list of availablePOIs displays when there arefewer than five POIs available.Press the List screen button atany time to view the list ofavailable POIs.

4. Select the desired POI fromthe list.


5. Press h.



Map

The map destination entry methodlets you select a destination byscrolling on the map.

I (Select from Map): Press thisbutton from the ENTERDESTINATION screen to enter themap destination entry method, thendo the following:

1. Press the map for the desiredarea of the destination.

2. Use the zoom in/out function toview the direction of thedesired area.

3. Pressing/holding and draggingon the map activates fastscrolling. Press once on the areawhere the current position markshould be moved.

Once the scroll symbol is on thelocation, the address informationdisplays on the map screen.

4. Press h.





Emergency

The emergency destination entrymethod allows a destination to beentered from three categories:Police Station, Hospital, or Dealer.

? (Emergency): Press this buttonfrom the ENTER DESTINATIONscreen to access the EMERGENCYscreen. The system displays theaddress, longitude, and latitudeinformation of the vehicle's currentposition.

To use this destination entrymethod:

1. Select a category. A list ofdestination(s) display with thename of the destination and thedistance from the vehicle'scurrent position.

2. Select a destination point fromthe list. Press Name Sort to sortthe list by name, or Dist Sort tosort the list by distance from thevehicle's current position.

After selecting a destination fromthe list, a map screen appearswith the destination marked.

3. Press h.



Memory Points

The memory points destination entrymethod allows selection of adestination from a list of points thathave been previously stored.

To store, edit, and delete memorypoints see Stored Locations onpage 45.

N (Memory Point): Press thisbutton from the DESTINATIONENTRY screen to access theMEMORY POINTS screen.


1. Select the category/folder inwhich the memory point hasbeen stored. Select from



PERSONAL, BUSINESS,ENTERTAINMENT, or MARKEDPOINT folders.

2. Sort the list by distance, icon,name, or date stored.

3. Select the desired memory point.

After selecting a memory pointfrom the list, a map screenappears with the destinationmarked.

4. Press h.



Previous Destination

The previous destination entrymethod lets you select a destinationfrom a list of previous destinationpoints.

h (Previous Destination): Pressthis button from the ENTERDESTINATION screen to access thePREVIOUS DEST screen. Thesystem stores up to 100 points thathave been previously input. As newdestinations are entered, the systemautomatically deletes the oldestdestinations and adds the newentries.

To use the previous destinationentry method:

1. Select a previous destinationfrom the list. Use the Sort byName/Date function asnecessary. Also from this menuthe previous start point optioncan be selected. This option isavailable while the vehicle ismoving.

To use the previous start pointoption from the PREVIOUSDEST screen, press thePrevious Start Point screenbutton.

2. After selecting a destination fromthe list, a map screen appearswith the destination marked.

3. Press h.





Intersection

The intersection destination entrymethod allows two intersectingstreets to be set as the destination.

? (Intersection): Press thisbutton from the ENTERDESTINATION screen to access theINTERSECTION screen.


1. Enter the first of two streets inthe intersection. A list ofavailable street names displays

when there are fewer than fiveavailable. Press the List screenbutton at any time to view theavailable street names.

2. Select a street from the list,or continue to spell the streetname to further reduce thenumber of available streetnames.

3. After the first street has beenselected, enter the second streetname. The List button may againbecome available.

4. Select the second street fromthe list, or continue to spell thestreet name to further reduce thenumber of available streetnames.

After both streets have beenselected, a map screen appearswith the destination marked.

5. Press h.



Freeway Entrance/Exit

The freeway entrance/exitdestination entry method lets youselect a destination by entering afreeway entrance or exit point.

= (Freeway Ent (Entrance)/Exit):Press this button from the ENTERDESTINATION screen to access theFREEWAY ENT/EXIT screen.




1. Enter the freeway name. Useabbreviations, such as I - 75,rather than spelling outInterstate.

The system displays a list offreeways.

2. Select a freeway from the list,and select whether you want anentrance point or an exit point.

Select an exit/entrance pointfrom the list or input the point byname. Sort the list by name orby distance.

After selecting a point from thelist, a map screen appears withthe destination marked.

3. Press h.



Phone Number

The phone number destination entrymethod lets you select a destinationby entering a phone number. Thephone number must be in the list ofPOIs that is contained on the mapDVD for the system to retrieve thedestination.

U (Phone Number): Press thisbutton from the ENTERDESTINATION screen to access thePHONE NUMBER screen.


1. Input the phone number of a POIusing the numeric keypad.

If the phone number can befound on the map DVD, a mapscreen appears with thedestination marked. If the phonenumber is dependent on thearea code, a list of POIs appearto select from. Once a POI isselected, a map screen appearswith the destination marked.

2. Press h.



Coordinates

The coordinates destination entrymethod lets you select a destinationby entering latitude and longitudecoordinates.



) (Coordinates): Press this buttonfrom the ENTER DESTINATIONscreen to access theCOORDINATES screen.


1. Press N (North) or S (South)next to LAT (latitude) to enter thedirection of the latitudecoordinate.

2. Input the numeric portion of thelatitude coordinate using thekeypad.

3. Press E (East) or W (West) nextto LONG (longitude) to enter thedirection of the longitudecoordinate.

4. Input the numeric portion of thelongitude coordinate using thekeypad.

5. Once both coordinates areentered, press OK.


If the coordinates are outside ofthe coverage area on the map, amessage that there is noinformation on that locationdisplays.

6. Press h.



Preset Destination

The preset destination entry methodlets you set a destination bychoosing from one of five previously

stored destinations. Besides home,these are the only destinationsavailable to set while the vehicle ismoving.

To store, edit, or delete a presetdestination, see “Destination andWaypoint” under Stored Locationson page 45.


1. Select a preset destinationnumber button from the ENTERDESTINATION screen. Thescreen buttons are located onthe bottom of the screen.


2. Press h.





Home

This feature lets you plan a route toone previously stored destinationthat you have selected as a home.If a home destination is not stored,the home button is not available.Besides preset destinations onethrough five, this destination is theonly other one that can be set byvoice recognition while the vehicle ismoving.

To store, edit, or delete a homelocation, see Stored Locations onpage 45.

L (Home): Press this button fromthe ENTER DESTINATION screento set a home destination.


1. Press L from the ENTERDESTINATION screen.

2. The system then sets yourpreset home destination as thecurrent destination. To store apreset home destination, seeStored Locations on page 45.


3. Press h.



Getting Started on Your Route

Once a destination has beenentered, choose from these options:

h (Destination): Press to set theentered destination as it is, withoutfurther adjustment.

o (Waypoint): Press to enter thispoint as a waypoint along the route.This feature lets you enter up to fivestops on the way to yourdestination. See “Destination andWaypoint” under Stored Locationson page 45 for more informationabout adding and deletingwaypoints.

Route Preference: Press toaccess the ROUTEPREFERENCES screen to adjustthe route preferences. The currentsetting is displayed in the RoutePreference section of the mapscreen. See “Route Preference”under Route Options on page 58.



Once the route preferences havebeen set, the system displays themap screen.

After pressing h , the followingscreen buttons become available.

Chg. (Change) route: Press to goto the Route Options menu. SeeRoute Options on page 58.

Guide: Press to start route andvoice prompt guidance.

Three Routes:

This screen gives the option ofselecting three different routes toget you to your destinations. To usethe 3 routes option:

1. Press the 3 routes button on themap screen.

The system calculates up to



three different versions of yourcurrent route in three differentchoices: Quick, Normal, andShort. The routes are shownwith distance to destination andestimated travel time, or selectthe Info screen button to accessthe INFO FOR 3 ROUTESscreen. From this screen, youcan view the followinginformation:

. G (Estimated Travel Time)— Shows the route'sestimated time of travel.

. J (Straight-LineDistance) — Shows theroute's straight-line distanceto destination.

. W (Toll Road) — Showsthe distance traveled on tollroads.

. c (Freeway Travel) —Shows the distancetraveled on freeways.

. b (Ferry) — Shows thedistance traveled by ferry.

. { (Time RestrictedRoads) — Shows thedistance traveled ontime-restricted roads.

2. Press the Quick, Normal,or Short screen button.


3. Press the Guide screen buttonto start route and voiceguidance.

Stored LocationsPress NAV. MENU to access theSTORED LOCATIONS screen.From this screen, you can accessthe following options:

Memory Points

N Memory Points: This featurecan store memory points in thesefour categories: PERSONAL,BUSINESS, ENTERTAINMENT, andMARKED POINT. The categorynames can be changed.



To store a point:

1. Press N from the STOREDLOCATIONS screen.

2. Select one of the folders/categories listed.

3. Press the Add screen button.

4. Select the desired method ofentering a destination to enterthe memory point. See EnterDestination on page 32. A mapscreen appears displaying theselected memory point location.

5. If available, press INFO to viewthe address information of theselected point.

6. Press OK to store the point as amemory point.

To edit the name of a stored point:


2. Select the folder/category thatthe memory point exists in.

3. Press the List screen button.

4. Select the memory point to edit.Use the sort feature to sort bydistance, icon, name, or date asneeded.

5. Press Name from the EDITMEMORY POINT screen.

6. Use the backspace screen todelete the current name or usethe alpha keypad to makechanges.

Select the Show Name Onscreen button to have the nameof the point appear on the mapscreen.

7. Press4 to store the change.

To change the icon associated witha memory point:





5. Press Icon from the EDITMEMORY POINT screen.

6. Select the desired icon. Thereare two pages (52) icons, sixicons that have soundsassociated with them, and a NoIcon button to select from.



Press the With Sound screenbutton, and the sound iconsdisplay. To hear the sound of theicon, press the Sound screenbutton next to each icon. If thesound icons are used, theassociated sound is heard whenthe vehicle is approximately200 m (650 ft) from the memorypoint.

Press the No Icon screen buttonto not have an icon associatedwith the point.

The new icon displays in theEDIT MEMORY POINT screen,next to the Icon screen button.

7. Press4 to store the change.

To move the memory point from onefolder/category to another:


2. Select the folder/category thatthe memory point currentlyexists in.



5. Press Category from the EDITMEMORY POINT screen.

6. Press the new folder/categorybutton you want to move thememory point to.

The system displays a messageconfirming the move.

To modify the position of the storedpoint:





5. Press Position from the EDITMEMORY POINT screen.

The system displays the mapscreen with the destinationmarked.

6. Press the map to move theposition of the memory point.

7. Press OK when you have movedthe memory point to theappropriate location.

8. The system returns to the EDITMEMORY POINT screen anddisplays the new address,longitude, and latitude for thechanged memory point.

To change the phone number of amemory point:







5. Press Tel. (telephone) from theEDIT MEMORY POINT screen.

6. Use the numeric keypad tochange the phone number.

7. Press OK to store the changedphone number.

To delete a memory point:



3. Press Delete.

4. Select the memory point todelete from the DELETE POINTscreen. Use the sort feature tosort by distance, icon, name ordate as needed.

5. The system displays the mapscreen with the position addressand a pop-up confirmationmessage. Select Yes to deletethe point; select No to return tothe DELETE POINTS screenand not delete the point.

To delete all of the memory points ina folder/category:


2. Select the desired folder/category.

3. Press Del. All.

4. The system displays a pop-upconfirmation message. PressYes to delete all the points in thefolder/category; press No tocancel the operation.

To change the name of the folder/category:


2. Select the desired folder/category.

3. Press Edit Category.

4. Use the alpha keypad to changethe name of the folder/category.

5. Press OK to save the changes.

Avoid Area

3 (Avoid Area): This feature letsyou store an area to be avoidedwhile planning a route. Up to10 points can be stored.

To store an avoid area point:

1. Press 3 from the STOREDLOCATIONS screen.

2. Press Add from the AVOIDAREA screen.

3. Select the desired method ofentering a destination to enterthe memory point. See Enter



Destination on page 32. A mapscreen appears displaying theselected memory point location.

4. If desired, reduce or enlarge thearea around the point you wantto avoid by using the Reduce orEnlarge screen buttons.

It is recommended that whenavoiding locations on freeways,you reduce the avoid area to theminimum scale. This producesan X on the map rather than abox. This ensures that thesystem knows you want to avoidthe freeway itself, notnecessarily the area around thefreeway.

5. Press OK to store the area.

To change the name of the point tobe avoided:


2. Press List from the AVOIDAREA screen.

3. Select the point to be changed.

4. Press the Name screen button.

5. Use the alpha keypad to add orto change the name.

Press the Show Name Onscreen button to have the nameof the point appear on the mapscreen.

6. Press OK to save the changes.

To change the position of the pointto be avoided:


2. Press List from the AVOIDAREA screen.

3. Select the point to be changed.

4. Press Position.

5. Press the map to move thelocation.

6. If desired, reduce or enlarge thearea around the point you wantto avoid by using the Reduce orEnlarge screen buttons.

7. Press OK to store the area.

To delete a point to be avoided:


2. Press Delete from the AVOIDAREA screen.

3. Select the point to delete. Usethe scrolling arrows as needed.

To delete all of the points to beavoided:


2. Press Del. All from the AVOIDAREA screen.

3. The system displays a pop-upconfirmation message. PressYes to have all of the pointsdeleted; press No to cancel thefunction.



Destination and Waypoint

6 Dest. & Way Pt. (Destinationand Waypoint): Waypoints aredestinations that can be added toyour route before reaching the finaldestination. Waypoints can beadded before or after entering afinal destination. Waypoints thatwere entered prior to setting a finaldestination, will delete if a finaldestination has not been entered.Up to five points can be stored aswaypoints.

To add a waypoint:

1. Press6 from the STOREDLOCATIONS screen.

2. Press Add from the DEST. &WAY POINT screen.

3. Using the desired method ofentering a destination, enter theway point. See Enter Destinationon page 32.

A map screen appears with theway point marked.

4. Select o (Way Point) icon onthe map screen to save the waypoint.

5. Repeat Steps 2 through 6 to addup to five way points to yourroute. After the first waypointhas been saved, the ADD WAYPOINT screen appears and thewaypoint is on the screen. Thesecond through the fifthwaypoint does not appear on theADD WAY POINT screen untilthe ADD button, next to thecorresponding waypoint row, ispressed. After the ADD buttonhas been pressed, the systemreturns to the STOREDLOCATIONS screen.

To change the order of thewaypoints:


2. Press List from the DEST. &WAY POINT screen.

3. From the CHANGE ORDERscreen, select on the addresses,in the order you would like themto fall on the route. Afterselecting the address line, anumber, indicating the order,appears next to thecorresponding row.

4. Select OK to save the changes.The system returns to theSTORED LOCATIONS screen.

To change the location of awaypoint:


2. Press List from the DEST. &WAY POINT screen.

3. Press Chg. Loc. from theCHANGE ORDER screen.

4. From the CHANGE LOCATIONscreen, select the address of thelocation to change. A mapscreen displays with thedestination marked.



5. Press on the map to move thelocation of the waypoint.

6. Press OK to save the changes.The system returns to theSTORED LOCATIONS screen.

To delete a waypoint from thecurrent route:


2. Press Delete from the DEST. &WAY POINT screen.

3. Select the way point/destinationto delete.

4. The system displays a pop-upconfirmation message. ChooseYes to delete the way point;press No to cancel thisoperation.

To delete all of the waypoints on theroute:


2. Press Del. All from the DEST. &WAY POINT screen.

3. The system displays the mapscreen with a pop-upconfirmation message. ChooseYes to delete all of the waypoints; press No to cancel thisoperation.

Home

L (Home): This feature lets youstore, delete, and edit a home pointdestination.

To store the home destination:

1. Press L from the STOREDLOCATIONS screen.

2. Press Add.

3. Select a destination entrymethod from the SET HOMEscreen. See Enter Destinationon page 32.

4. Set the destination andpress OK.

5. Press OK on the map screenand the destination stores. Thehome icon now is highlighted onthe ENTER DESTINATIONscreen.

To edit the home destination, do thefollowing:


2. Press List from the HOMEscreen to change the location.

3. Press the map to move thelocation of the point.

4. Press OK to save the change.

To delete the home point:




2. Press Delete from the HOMEscreen.

3. The system displays the mapscreen with a pop-upconfirmation message. PressYes to delete the stored homeposition; press No to cancel theoperation.

Previous Destination

B Previous Dest. (PreviousDestination): The systemautomatically stores up to 100 pointsthat have been previously entered.As new destinations are entered,the system automatically deletes theoldest destinations and adds thenew entries. See Enter Destinationon page 32.

To delete a specific destination fromthe previous destinations list:

1. PressB from the STOREDLOCATIONS screen.

2. Press Delete.

3. Select a destination from the list.

4. The system displays the mapscreen with a pop-upconfirmation message. PressYes to delete the storeddestination; press No to cancelthe operation.

To delete all destinations from theprevious destinations list:


2. Press Del. All.

3. The system displays the mapscreen with a pop-upconfirmation message. PressYes to delete all of the storeddestinations; press No to cancelthe operation.

Preset Destination

A Preset Dest. (PresetDestination): This feature lets youstore up to five preset destinations.These destinations are stored onthe numbered buttons shown on thebottom of the ENTERDESTINATION screen.

To store a preset destination:


2. Press Add to add a presetdestination, then select thenumbered preset button for thedestination to appear as.

3. Select a destination entrymethod from the STOREPRESET DEST. screen. SeeEnter Destination on page 32.

4. Set the destination andpress OK.

5. Press OK on the map screenand the destination stores. Thepreset destination number isnow highlighted on the ENTERDESTINATION screen.

To edit the name of a presetdestination:


2. Press List.



3. Select the preset destinationto edit.

4. Press Name and use the alphakeypad to edit or add the name.

Press the Show Name Onscreen button to have the nameappear on the map screen.


The new name displays.

To change the position of a presetdestination, do the following:


2. Press List.

3. Select the preset destination tochange.

4. Press Position from the EDITPRESET DEST. screen. Thesystem displays the map screenwith the destination marked.

5. Press the map to move theposition of the memory point.


To add or change the phone numberof a preset destination:


2. Press List.

3. Select the preset destination tochange.

4. Press Tel. (telephone) and usethe numeric keypad to enter orchange the phone number.


To delete a preset destination:


2. Press Delete.

3. Select the memory point todelete from the DELETEPRESET DEST. screen.

4. The system displays the mapscreen with the position addressand a pop-up confirmationmessage. Press Yes to deletethe point; press No to cancel the

operation and to return to theDELETE PRESET DEST.screen.

To delete all of the presetdestinations:


2. Press Del. All.

3. The system displays a pop-upconfirmation message. PressYes to delete all of the presetdestinations; press No to cancelthe operation.

Memory Point Icons Display:Press this screen button to displaymemory point icons on the map.The button is highlighted when thememory point icons are beingdisplayed on the map.

Calculate: Press this button tocalculate your route. This button isavailable after a destination hasbeen set.



Navigation Set Up

Select the MENU screen button toaccess NAV. MENU.

I (Navigation Set Up): Pressthis button from the NAV. MENUscreen to access the NAVIGATIONSET UP screen. Several systemoptions are available for adjustment.

Two-Dimensional/Three-Dimensional (2D/3D) View

8 (2D/3D View): Press thisbutton from the NAVIGATION SETUP screen. This feature lets youchange the view of the mapbetween a 2-dimensional and3-dimensional view.

Map Screen 2D/3D: Changes theview of all map screens.

Guidance Screen 2D/3D: Changesthe view of the map screen whiledriving during route guidance.

n /q (Scroll Arrows): Press thearrows to tilt the view of the mapscreen.

4 (Return): Press to save thechanges.

Default: Press to cancel yourchanges and return to the defaultsettings (2D and 3D).

Quick POI Selection

C (Quick POI Selection):This feature lets you select the POIcategories you want available onthe Quick POI (Q-POI) screen.



To replace the default POIcategories on the Quick POI(Q-POI) screen:

1. PressC (Quick POISelection) from theNAVIGATION SET UP menu.This screen displays the list ofPOI categories.

2. Select the POI category that youwould like to change. Thecategory to change displays withthe list of categories toselect from.

Press All Category List todisplay all categories andsub-categories.

3. Press a different POI category.The POI category icon tochange is replaced with the newPOI category icon at the top ofthe screen. This POI is nowavailable on the Q-POI screen.

Quick POI

Once categories have beenselected on the Q-POI SELECTIONscreen, the POI categories are nowavailable on the Quick POI screen.From this screen you can select thePOI icons that you would like todisplay on the map screen. You caneither select a POI for a finaldestination or as a waypoint. TheQuick POI screen is available whenthe scale is 1 km (½mi) or less.

To use the QUICK POI screen,press the POI screen button fromthe map screen.

The POI categories that wereselected on the Q-POI SELECTIONscreen display.



To have the POI icons appear onthe map screen, select the POIcategory. The POI category icondisplays at the top of the screen.

List Categories: Select to displaymore categories to select from.

All Local POIs

1. Press this screen button toselect a POI as a destination.A list of all of the local POIswithin a 8 km (5 mi) radius ofyour vehicle's current positionwill display. This list is generatedfrom the POI categories thathave been selected and appearat the top of the QUICK POIscreen.

Use the Sort by Dist. (distance),Icon, Name, or Route screenbuttons. Use the up and downscroll arrow screen buttons toscroll through the list.

2. Select the POI. The map screendisplays with the scroll symbolaround the selected POI. The

name and the POI informationwill also display on the mapscreen.

3. Press h.

All Category List: This buttonappears once List Categories hasbeen selected. Press to display alist of sub-categories.

Show: Press to display the mapscreen.

Delete: To delete a category:. To delete the last added POI

category, press Delete.. To delete a specific POI

category, select that POIcategory from the list.

POI Off: Press to delete all of thePOI categories in the list.

Calibration

5 (Calibration): Press this buttonfrom the NAVIGATION SET UPscreen. This feature lets yourecalibrate the navigation system.

The vehicle's current position or thevehicle's speed signal can beadjusted on the map by using theCALIBRATION screen.

To adjust the vehicle's currentposition or the vehicle's speedsignal:

1. Press the Position/Directionscreen button.



The map screen displays withthe vehicle's current position.

2. To change the vehicle's position,press the map screen.

Use the zoom in/out function toview the direction of thedesired area.

Pressing/holding and draggingon the map activates fastscrolling. Press once on the areawhere the current position markshould be moved.

3. Press OK once the vehicle is inthe current position.

If a route had already been set,the map screen displays, pressGuide to change your route tothe vehicle's new position.

Once the process of changingthe vehicle's current position iscomplete, the map screendisplays with rotate arrow screenbuttons around the vehicle.

4. To change the direction of yourvehicle, press either arrow toturn the vehicle to the correctdirection.

5. Once the vehicle is facing thecorrect direction, select OK.

If there are tire pressure differencesor a spare tire is installed, thesystem automatically re-calibratesthe system but it may take longer.To calibrate the vehicle speedsignal, press the Distance screenbutton. See Vehicle Positioning onpage 71.

User Settings

J (User Settings): Press thisbutton from the NAVIGATION SETUP screen. This feature allowsseveral route options to be turnedon or off.

From this screen, adjust thefollowing:

Road Restriction Warnings:Instructs the system to notify youwhen the current route has trafficrestrictions.

Arrival Time G (Time of Arrival):Displays the estimated time ofarrival to the destination.

Arrival Time \ (Time toDestination): Displays the amountof drive time estimated to arrive atthe destination.



Guidance Screen: Turns theguidance screen on and off.

Freeway Information: Displaysfreeway exit information. This is onlyavailable on freeways during routeguidance.

Restore System Defaults

D (Restore System Defaults):Select this feature from theNAVIGATION SET UP screen tochange all adjustable systemsettings to factory defaults.

OK: Press to restore the systemdefaults.

Average Speed Default: Press toset the average speed to default.The system monitors the speed ondifferent roads and updates thevehicle's average speed. Thisaverage speed is used to calculatethe time it takes to reach thedestination when a route is set.

Guidance Volume

> (Guidance Volume): Press toadjust the volume of voice guidanceprompts. Press Off to turn voiceguidance prompts off.

Route Options



Select Route Options from the NAV.MENU screen to access the ROUTEOPTIONS screen. This menu hasmany features to customize routeguidance. A route must first be setto use these features. See EnterDestination on page 32 for moreinformation on entering adestination.

Search Condition

H Search Condition: Press toaccess the SEARCH CONDITIONscreen.

The search condition screen letsyou view your current destinationand to change the planningmethods between each destination.Each distance between waypointsand final destination can have anindividual setting.

n /q (Scroll Arrows): Use thearrows to scroll through each route.

Quick/ Normal/Short: Select oneof the route preference options tochange the planning method.

Calculate: After selecting the newmethods, press Calculate to planthe route with the changes. Themap screen displays.

Detour

7 (Detour): Select a detour ifthere is construction work, or trafficdelays that prevent the originalroute from being used.

From this screen, you can select a1 mile, 3 mile, or 5 mile detour orselect to detour the whole route.After selecting the detour, thesystem calculates the alternateroute and the new route displays onthe map screen.

Route Preferences

F Route Pref. (RoutePreferences): You can select tohave certain types of roads/ferriesincluded in your route. See “GettingStarted on Your Route” under EnterDestination on page 32.



The following route preferences canbe selected on or off:

c (Allow Major Roads): Press touse expressways when calculatinga route. If there is no way to reachyour destination without using majorroads, the system automaticallyincludes major roads.

l (Allow Time Restricted Road):Press to use time restricted roadswhen calculating a route. These areroads that may be closed during thewinter season.

W (Allow Toll Road): Press touse toll roads or pay roads whencalculating a route.

b (Allow Ferry): Press to useferries when calculating a route.

Calculate: Press to update thechanges in the current route. Themap screen displays.

If any of these features are turnedoff, the button is dark and there is ared slash through the icon on themap screen.

Once the route preferences havebeen set, select the back button toreturn to the previous screen.

Destination and Waypoint

o Dest. & Way Pt. (Destinationand Waypoint): Press to edit theselected destination and waypointsusing this screen. See “Destinationand Way Point” under StoredLocations on page 45 forinformation on storing destinationsand waypoints.

Up to five waypoints and onedestination can be entered:

Add: Press to access the StoreDest. & Waypoint screen.A waypoint can be added or thedestination can be changed.

List: Press to change the order ofthe stops in the route and to changethe location of the stops.

Delete/Del. All: Press to deletewaypoints on the route or delete theentire route.



Display route

9 (Display Route): Press thisbutton from the ROUTE OPTIONSmenu to view the entire route. Thestart point and destination, the timeit takes to reach the destination, anddistance, including the distance thatis routed on each road type willdisplay.

Turn List: Press to edit the route.A list of every turn on the routedisplays. With the turn list displayed,you can select to avoid streets/turnson the route.

Avoid: To avoid a street, press theAvoid screen button next to the turn.To cancel the avoided turn, pressAvoid again to deselect it.

Reroute: After selections havebeen made, press to replan theroute.

Delete: Press to cancel an avoidedturn after the route has beenreplanned. A list of all the avoidedturns displays. Select the street thatyou want to add back to the route.A confirmation window displays.Press Yes to have the avoidedstreet added back to the route. TheTurn List screen displays.

Del. All (Delete All): To cancel allof the avoided turns after the routehas been replanned, press theDelete screen button. A list of all ofthe avoided turns displays. PressDel. All. A confirmation windowdisplays. Press Yes to have all ofthe avoided streets added back tothe route. The Turn List screendisplays.

Route Preview

G (Route Preview): Press thisbutton from the ROUTE OPTIONSmenu to preview the entire route ineither direction and to edit the route.

Use the screen buttons at thebottom of the navigation screen tomove through the route.

b t (Skip to Start Point): Pressto skip backward to the start point,the previous waypoint, or theprevious available POI, dependingon the mode selected.



b q (Scroll to Start Point): Pressto start a smooth scroll of the routebackwards to the start point,previous waypoint, or the previousavailable POI, depending on themode selected. Press again toincrease the scroll speed.

j (Pause): Press to pause thesmooth scroll. Press either scrollbutton ( b q r h ) to restart thescroll.

r h (Scroll to Destination): Pressto start a smooth scroll of the routetoward the destination, nextwaypoint or next available POI,depending on the mode selected.Press again to increase the scrollspeed.

u h (Skip to Destination): Pressto skip forward to the destination,next waypoint or next available POI,depending on the mode selected.

Edit: Press to change the way theskip/scroll function operates. Pressto have the skip/scroll go to the startpoint/destination or to the nextavailable POI or waypoint.

To next Dest. (Destination) or WP(Waypoint): Press to have theskip/scroll functions skip/scroll to thenext destination or waypoint.

To next POI: To select this option,a POI category must be selected.Press this button to have the skip/scroll functions skip/scroll to thenext available POI for the category.

To change the POI category, pressthe corresponding screen buttonnext to the category. Press theDelete screen button to have noPOIs appear on the map. Thedefault POIs are the same as thosein the Quick POI group listing.

Calculate: Press this screen buttonto calculate the route with thechanges.

Once the route has been calculated,this screen displays. From this mapscreen, Press Guide to begin route



guidance or press Chg. route toreturn to the ROUTE OPTIONSscreen.

Cancel Guidance: Press thisscreen button to cancel the currentroute.

Head-Up Display (HUD)

When a route is planned theHead-Up Display (HUD) will displayinformation when the vehicle isapproaching a turn. This informationdisplays when the vehicle is 0.8 km(0.5 mi) away from a turn inresidential areas and 2.0 km or1.24 mi away from a turn onfreeways.

A. Directional Arrow — Displaysthe direction of the next turn.

B. Distance Bar — This willdecrease as the vehicleapproaches the turn.

C. Street Name Line — Displaysthe name of the street that youwill be turning on.

D. Mile/Kilometer Scale —Indicates the scale of thedistance bar. The scale is0.80 km (0.5 mi) in residentialareas and 2.0 km or 1.24 mi onfreeways. This value changesas you approach the turn.

After completing a turn, the HUDdisplays the name and distance ofthe next street you are turning on for10 seconds.

When HUD is displaying theturn-by-turn guidance information,the vehicle's shift lever gear doesnot display in the HUD. The geardisplays on the Driver InformationCenter (DIC) screen. Once thedestination has been reached orguidance is cancelled, the HUDdisplays the gear information again.See “Head-Up Display (HUD)” in theowner manual.

MapsThis section includes basicinformation needed for the mapdatabase.

The maps are stored on aDVD-ROM. The 48 contiguousUnited States and portions ofCanada are contained on two discs.To minimize the necessity ofchanging the discs, both map discscover US6, US7, and Canada.



West East

Installing the DVD Map Disc

Your dealer may have installed themap DVD. If the map DVD was notinstalled, do the following to load it:

Read the following steps completelybefore operating this feature.


2. Press theX (Open/CloseFaceplate) button and thefaceplate opens.

3. Load the map DVD into the DVDslot by inserting it partway. Thesystem pulls it in.

4. Wait until the DVD is loadedproperly and then press theXbutton to close the faceplate.

Once the map DVD is insertedcorrectly, the system displays theCaution screen.

Agree: Press to proceed to thenavigation system.

The map appears showing yourcurrent vehicle position.

DVD Map Disc Messages

If an error displays and/or the mapdisc comes out, it could be for oneof the following reasons:. If the map disc was installed into

the CD slot. See “Installing theDVD Map Disc” previously.

. It is very hot, when thetemperature returns to normal,the map disc should play.



. You are driving on a very roughroad. When the road becomessmoother, the map discshould play.

. The map disc is dirty, scratched,wet, or upside down.

If any error occurs repeatedly or ifan error cannot be corrected,contact your dealer.

Ejecting the DVD Map Disc

When the DVD map disc is notloaded, you are not able to use thenavigation portion of the system.


2. Press theX (Open/CloseFaceplate) button and thefaceplate opens.

3. PressX DVD, located next tothe bottom slot. The disc ejects.

4. Wait until the DVD is ejectedproperly and then pressX(Open/Close Faceplate) to closethe faceplate.

Handling the DVD Map Disc

When handling the DVD map disc,be careful of the following:. Handle the disc very carefully to

avoid contamination or flaws.Signals may not read outproperly if the disc getscontaminated or flawed.

. If the disc gets soiled, use a softcloth to gently wipe it out fromthe center of the disc to theoutside. Do not usephotographic record cleaner,solvents, or other cleaners.

. Do not use the disc to rest onwhile writing or drawing usingany writing utensil or attach aseal to any of the sides orthe disc.

. Do not keep the disc in directsunlight, high temperatures,or humidity.

. After using the disc, place itback into the original case.

Setting the Search Area

See Enter Destination on page 32for information on changing thesearch area.

Map Adjustments

The system lets you adjust the scaleof view on the map. Also, as youdrive, the map scrolls automaticallybased on the direction you aretraveling.

Map Scales

To view a larger or smaller scale ofthe map, touch the map scalearrows.

Change the level of map detail byeither zooming in or zooming outusing the arrow screen buttons orby touching the scale on the bar.



The system adjusts the mapaccordingly. The scale of a map canrange from 0.05 km (0.31 mi) to256 km (159mi).

Scrolling the Map

Press anywhere on the map screentwice and the scroll symbol appears.Use this feature to scroll acrossthe map.

If scrolling while the vehicle is inP (Park), the system scrolls initiallyat a slower rate. Continue to pressthe map screen to increase thescrolling speed.

If scrolling while the vehicle is inmotion, the system will scroll to thatlocation and stop.

If you have used the scroll feature toscroll the map and if the vehicleicon becomes lost, press NAV toreturn to the current vehicle locationon the map.

Use the scroll feature on the map toset a destination. See “Map” underEnter Destination on page 32.

Navigation SymbolsThe following symbols are the mostcommon symbols that appear on amap screen.

The vehicle is shown as thissymbol. It shows the position anddirection the vehicle is moving onthe map.

This symbol marks the finaldestination of the planned route.

This symbol appears on the map fora planned waypoint.

The waypoint symbol is numberedfrom 1 through 5 depending on howmany waypoints have been set.



This symbol indicates the distanceto the final destination. It onlyappears when the time symbol doesnot appear.

This symbol indicates the distanceand the estimated time remaining tothe final destination or arrival time,depending on the option selected.

See Navigation Set Up on page 54.

This symbol shows the straight-linedistance to the final destination.

This symbol may appear beforestarting to drive on the route or if ona road where navigation guidancecannot be given. See DatabaseCoverage Explanations on page 73.

This symbol indicates the map withNorth Up (North Up mode).

While in North Up mode, North isalways at the top of the map screenregardless of which direction thevehicle is traveling. Press thisscreen symbol to switch betweenNorth Up and Heading Up modes.

This Heading Up mode symbolindicates the map with the vehicletravel direction up.

The shaded triangle indicates theNorth direction. While in HeadingUp mode, the direction the vehicle istraveling is always at the top of themap screen. The vehicle icon isalways headed in the direction thevehicle is traveling. Press thisscreen symbol to switch betweenHeading Up and North Up modes.



This symbol appears in the upperright corner when the vehicle is notreceiving a Global PositioningSystem (GPS) satellite signal.

See Global Positioning System(GPS) on page 71.

When a name is too long to bedisplayed, an arrow symbolappears. Press the arrow screenbuttons to scroll through theentire name.

This symbol indicates the position ofthe next guidance maneuver.

Press this symbol to set the currentroute as the destination.

Press this symbol to enter awaypoint along the current route.

Press this symbol to store thelocation on the screen as a memorypoint.

Map Appearance

Select this symbol from the mapscreen to display the mapappearance options.

Select from one of the following sixoptions to allow different views andinformation of the map screen.Availability of these optionsdepends on the current route. Thecurrent view is highlighted.



Select the single map mode todisplay more of the map with awindow that gives the direction anddistance to the upcoming maneuver.

Press the dual view symbol todisplay two map screens that allowdifferent scale levels and headingdirection for each window.

Press anywhere inside the rightscreen and the EDIT RIGHTSCREEN displays. Change thescale level, 2D and 3D view, and to

turn the POIs on and off. To changethe heading direction, touch theNorth Up or Heading Up symbol.

Press the turn list symbol to displaythe next three upcoming maneuverson the map screen when on routeguidance.

Directional arrows, street name, anddistance to the next turn display. Asyou approach the next turn, thesystem automatically displays azoomed-in view of the upcomingmaneuver.

Press the arrow guidance symbol todisplay the next turn on the mapscreen when on route guidance.

Directional arrows, street name, anddistance to the next turn display.When approaching the next turn, thesystem automatically displays azoomed-in view of the upcomingmaneuver.

Press this symbol to display onlythe next maneuver along with asmall map of the maneuver.

When approaching the nextmaneuver, the system displays aguidance window of the maneuver.This option can be turned off by theUSER SETTINGS screen.



Press the highway guidance symbolto display highway guidance on themap screen.

The upcoming exit number, distanceto the exit, available POIs at theexit, and a window with the directionand distance to the next maneuverdisplay.

Use the arrows to scroll through thelist. To view the available POIs foran exit, select the exit, then selectthe Map screen button.

The system displays highwayguidance any time you have aplanned route on a highway orfreeway. To turn this feature off, see“User Settings” under NavigationSet Up on page 54.

Auto Reroute

When a destination has been setbut the vehicle is off of the plannedroute, the system automaticallyplans a new route. The new route ishighlighted on the screen.

Traveling Across Regions

When driving through regions, themap screen updates to display thecurrent location. To plan adestination in a different region, theregion must be changed for the mapDVD to access the correctinformation.

1. Change the selected region inthe search area when closer tothe destination. See EnterDestination on page 32.

2. Change the selected region inthe search area when enteringthe destination and routesettings. See Enter Destinationon page 32.

For example, if you weretraveling from Michigan toFlorida, make sure that Florida is

included on the selected region.Enter a destination in Floridaunder the ENTERDESTINATION menu.

Navigation MenuPress NAV to access the mapscreen. Press the MENUtouch-screen button on the mapscreen.

All of the navigation system featurescan be accessed from this screen.



Global PositioningSystem (GPS)The navigation system determinesthe position of your vehicle by usingsatellite signals, various vehiclesignals, and map data.

At times, other interferences suchas the satellite condition, roadconfiguration, the condition of thevehicle and/or other circumstancescan interfere with the navigationsystem's ability to determine theaccurate position of the vehicle.

The GPS shows the current positionof your vehicle using signals sent bythe GPS Satellites of the UnitedStates Department of Defense.When your vehicle is not receivingsignals from the satellites, a symbolappears on the map screen. Referto Navigation Symbols on page 66.

This system may not be available orinterferences may occur if any of thefollowing are true:. Signals are obstructed by tall

buildings, trees, large trucks,or a tunnel.

. Objects are located on the rearshelf of the vehicle.

. Satellites are being repaired orimproved.

. After-market glass tinting hasbeen applied to the vehicle'srear windshield.

Notice: Do not apply after-marketglass tinting to the vehicle'swindows. Glass tinting interfereswith the system's ability toreceive GPS signals and causesthe system to malfunction. Thewindow might have to bereplaced to correct the problem.This would not be covered by thewarranty.

If the GPS is not functioningproperly, see Problems with RouteGuidance on page 72 and If theSystem Needs Service on page 73.

Vehicle PositioningAt times, the position of the vehicleon the map may be inaccurate dueto one or more of the followingreasons:. The road system has changed.. The vehicle is driving on slippery

road surfaces such as in sand,gravel and/or snow.

. The vehicle is traveling onwinding roads.

. The vehicle is on a longstraight road.

. The vehicle is approaching a tallbuilding or a large vehicle.

. The surface streets run parallelto a freeway.

. The vehicle has just beentransferred by a vehicle carrieror a ferry.



. The current position calibrationis set incorrectly.

. The vehicle is traveling at highspeed.

. The vehicle changes directionsmore than once, or when thevehicle is turning on a turn tablein a parking lot.

. The vehicle is entering and/orexiting a parking lot, garage or alot with a roof.

. The GPS signal is not received.

. A roof carrier is installed on yourvehicle.

. The vehicle is equipped with tirechains.

. The tires are replaced.

. The tire pressure for your tires isincorrect.

. The tires are worn.

. The first time the map DVD isinserted.

. The battery is disconnected forseveral days.

. The vehicle is driving in heavytraffic where driving is at lowspeeds, and the vehicle isstopped and started repeatedly.

If any of those problems occur, thesystem may need to bere-calibrated. This could be due totire pressure differences, or if aspare tire is installed. To calibratethe system, see Navigation Set Upon page 54.

Problems with RouteGuidanceInappropriate route guidance canoccur under one or more of thefollowing conditions:. A turn was made that was not on

the route.. Route guidance may not be

available when using automaticrerouting for the next right orleft turn.

. The route may not be changedwhen using automatic rerouting.

. There is no route guidance whenturning at an intersection.

. Plural names of places may beannounced occasionally.

. It may take a long time tooperate automatic reroutingduring high-speed driving.

. Automatic rerouting may displaya route returning to the setwaypoint if you are heading for adestination without passingthrough a set waypoint.

. The route prohibits the entry of avehicle due to a regulation bytime or season or any otherregulation which may be given.

. Some routes may not besearched.

. The route to the destination maynot be shown if there are newroads, if roads have recentlychanged or if certain roads arenot listed on the map DVD. SeeOrdering Map DVDs on page 73.

If the System NeedsServiceIf your system needs service andyou have followed the steps listedhere and still are experiencingproblems, see your dealer forassistance.

Ordering Map DVDsThe map DVD in the vehicle is themost up-to-date informationavailable when your vehicle wasproduced. The map DVD is updatedperiodically, provided that the mapinformation has changed.

Center or order a new disc online.Have the Vehicle IdentificationNumber (VIN) available whenordering. This ensures that youreceive the correct and mostup-to-date DVD map disc for yourvehicle. See “Vehicle IdentificationNumber (VIN)” in the owner manual.

After receiving the updated disc,replace the old disc in thenavigation system. See “Installingthe DVD Map Disc” under Maps onpage 63. Dispose of the old disc toavoid confusion about which disc isthe most current.

Database CoverageExplanationsCoverage area depends upon themap detail available. Some areashave greater map detail than others.The navigation system works onlyas well as the information providedon the map disc. See Ordering MapDVDs on page 73 on how to obtainupdated map information.

Voice RecognitionThe navigation system's voicerecognition allows for hands-freeoperation of navigation and audiosystem features. Voice recognitioncan be used when the ignition is onor in ACC/ACCESSORY or whenRetained Accessory Power (RAP) isactive.

This feature only works if the mapDVD is inserted. If you try to usevoice recognition without the mapDVD inserted, the system displays“Please insert the navigation mapDVD to use the voice recognitionfeature.” See “Installing the DVDMap Disc” under Maps on page 63.

The system may not hear you ormay hear the incorrect word with thewindows open or the convertible topdown due to background noise.



To use voice recognition:

1. Press and hold g until a beep isheard. The audio system mutes.

This button is located on the leftside of the navigation systemfaceplate.

2. Clearly state one of thecommands listed on thefollowing pages. For example,say “FM1.”

3. The system states the commandbeing implemented. Forexample, the system says “FM1Radio” and the audio systemchanges to the FM1 source.

You may end voice recognition bynot speaking any commands. Afterabout five seconds of silence, thesystem automatically cancels voicerecognition.

At times, the system may notunderstand a spoken command.If this happens, try again. If aspoken command is not available,the system provides feedbackbased on availability.

While using voice recognition, makesure to keep interior noise levels toa minimum. Otherwise, the systemmight not recognize voicecommands.

The system only recognizescommands spoken in English.

Voice Recognition Commands

The following list shows all of thevoice commands available for thenavigation system with a briefdescription of each. Any wordsshown in square brackets areoptional. If there are words shown inparentheses, choose one of the

options. To use the voicecommands, refer to the instructionslisted previously.

Help Commands

These commands are universal andenable you to use the help promptsavailable from the system.

Command Help/List: Enables thesystem to provide the availablecommands for the navigation radio.

Cancel: Cancels the voicerecognition function.

Radio Commands

Radio: Changes the audio systemto the next radio audio source.

AM: Changes the audio system tothe AM audio source.

FM1: Changes the audio system tothe FM1 audio source.

FM2: Changes the audio system tothe FM2 audio source.

XM1: Changes the audio system tothe XM1 audio source.



XM2: Changes the audio system tothe XM2 audio source.

Power On, Audio On: Turns thesystem's power on.

Power Off, Audio Off: Turns thesystem's power off.

Seek Up: The selected audiosource seeks to the next strongeststation.

Seek Down: The selected audiosource seeks down to the nextstrongest station.

CD Player Commands

Track Up: The CD player skips tothe next track.

Previous Track: The CD playergoes to the previous track.

Track Down: The CD player goesto the beginning of the track or goesto the previous track if the track haselapsed nine seconds.

Screen Commands

Screen Day Mode, Day ModeOn: Adjusts the system's screensetting to the day mode.

Screen Night Mode, Night ModeOn: Adjusts the system's screensetting to the night mode.

Screen Auto Mode, Auto ModeOn: Adjusts the system's screensetting to auto mode.

Screen Off: Turns the system'sscreen display off.

Position Commands

Current Position, CurrentLocation, Show Current Position,Show Current Location: Thesecommands will display the vehicle'scurrent location on the map screen.

Map: The system displays the mapscreen.

Map Commands

Zoom In: The system zooms inwhen on the map screen.

Zoom In Maximum: The systemzooms in to the minimum availablemap scale when on the map screen.

Zoom Out: The system zooms outwhen on the map screen.

Zoom Out Maximum: The systemzooms out to the maximumavailable map scale when on themap screen.

Heading Up, Change to HeadingUp: The system displays theVehicle Up heading when on themap screen.

North Up, Change to North Up:The system displays the North Upheading when on the map screen.

Map Direction, Change MapDirection: The system changes thevehicle's direction from North up toheading up or heading up to Northup on the map screen.

Mark, Mark This Point: Thesystem marks the location as amemory point while on the mapscreen.



Right Map Zoom In: The systemzooms in on the right map when indual map mode.

Right Map Zoom In (Maximum/Minimum Scale): The systemzooms in to the minimum availablemap scale on the right map when indual map mode.

Right Map Zoom Out: The systemzooms out on the right map when indual map mode.

Right Map Zoom Out (Maximum/Maximum Scale): The systemzooms out to the maximumavailable map scale on the rightmap when in dual map mode.

Right Map [Change to] / [Show]North Up [Mode]: The systemdisplays the North Up heading onthe right map when in dualmap mode.

Right Map [Change to] / [Show]Heading Up [Mode]: The systemdisplays the Vehicle Up heading onthe right map when on the mapscreen and in dual map mode.

Right Map [Change Map]Direction: The system changesfrom North Up to Heading Up orfrom Heading Up to North Up.

[Show/Change to] Dual MapMode: The system changes themap display to dual map mode.

[Show/Change to] Single MapMode: The system changes themap display to single map mode.

[Change to] 3D Map [Mode]: Thesystem changes the map display tothe 3-dimensional map.

[Change to] 2D Map [Mode]: Thesystem changes the map display tothe 2-dimensional map.

Destination Commands

Home, Go Home: The systementers the Home destination as awaypoint or final destination, if ahome destination has been stored.

Go to Starting Point, PreviousStarting Point: The system entersthe last available starting point as awaypoint or final destination.

[Go to] Previous Destination: Thesystem enters the last availabledestination as a waypoint or finaldestination, if one is available.

[Go to] Preset Destination[Number] (number): The systemgoes to the preset destinationnumber. This preset destination canbe chosen as a waypoint or adestination. There must be alocation stored in the presetdestination number that is chosen.For example, first store a location inPreset Destination 3. Say “Go toPreset Destination 3.” The systemgoes to Preset Destination 3 andprompt you to choose it as awaypoint or destination.

Add [to] Waypoint: The systemadds the current marked point as awaypoint. This command is usedafter the following commands havebeen used: Home, Go to StartingPoint, Go to Previous Destination.

Enter Destination: The systemadds the current marked point asthe final destination. This command



is used after the followingcommands have been used: Home,Go to Starting Point, Go to PreviousDestination.

Guidance Commands

Softer: The system decreases thevolume of the navigation voiceprompts.

Voice Guidance Off: The systemturns off the navigation voiceprompts if a destination hasbeen set.

Voice Guidance On: The systemturns on the navigation voiceprompts.

[Change to] Arrow (Guide/Guidance): The system changes toArrow Guidance screen view in theGuidance Menu if a destination hasbeen set.

[Change to] Turn List (Guide/Guidance): The system changes toTurn List Guidance screen view inthe Guidance Menu if a destinationhas been set.

[Change to] Freeway (Guide/Guidance): The system changes toFreeway Guidance screen view inthe Guidance Menu if a destinationhas been set. This command is onlyavailable if you are on a freeway.

[Change to] Intersection (Guide/Guidance): The system changes toIntersection Guidance screen viewin the Guidance Menu if adestination has been set. Thiscommand is only available when thenext turn is less than 0.80 km(0.5 mi) away for city streets and2 km (1.24 mi) away for freeways.

Entire Route, Entire Route Map,Route Overview: The systemdisplays the entire route if adestination has been set.

Reroute: The system generates analternate route to a set destinationwhile on a planned route.

Detour, Detour Entire Route: Thesystem activates the detour featurewhen driving a planned route.

Next Waypoint Map: The systemdisplays the map view of the nextwaypoint location if one hasbeen set.

(First/Second/Third/Fourth/Fifth)Waypoint Map: The systemdisplays the map view of the namedwaypoint location if it has been set.

Destination Map: The systemdisplays the map view of the finaldestination location if one hasbeen set.

Yes: Confirms system talkback.

No: Cancels a command.



(Delete/Cancel) Destination: Thesystem cancels the currentdestination.

(Delete/Cancel) All Waypoints andDestination: The system cancelsall currently set waypoints and thefinal destination.

Quick: The system selects theQuick route when a destination hasbeen set.

Normal: The system selects theNormal route when a destinationhas been set.

Short: The system selects theShort route when a destination hasbeen set.
