The 2007-08 NABC National Coach of the Yearled Davidson to the 2008 NCAA Tournament Mid-west Regional Championship game with victoriesover Gonzaga, Georgetown and Wisconsin. TheWildcats’ unbelievable run ended with a two-pointloss to eventual tournament champion Kansas, andDavidson finished the campaign with a final rankingof ninth in the ESPN/USA Today Poll.

To go along with tying the school’s single-seasonrecord for wins with 29, McKillop and the Wildcatsstrung together 25 consecutive victories, the longeststreak in the nation, before falling to the Jayhawkson the doorstep of the Final Four.

Four of the last six campaigns have seen the Wild-cats collect 25 or more victories, including a 25-8mark last season.

The Wildcats’ 2012 NCAA Tournament appear-ance was their sixth under McKillop and marked the11th time in his tenure he has led Davidson to apostseason berth — the NCAA Tournament in1998, 2002, 2006-08, 2012 and the NIT in 1994,1996, 2005 and 2009. McKillop-coached teams havenow reached the 20-win plateau 11 times, and fivehave won 25 or more games.

The nine-time SoCon Coach of the Year has wonmore games in Davidson and league history thanksto an all-time coaching mark of 449-278 . Enteringthe 2012-13 campaign, his victory total ranked 31ston the NCAA’s list of Division I winningest activecoaches. McKillop also ranks ninth among activecoaches on the NCAA’s list of most seasons withcurrent school and is one of six on that list who has

spent their entire careers at that school.McKillop’s teams have been successful off the

court as well. He has had a perfect AcademicProgress Rate of 1,000 each year since the NCAAbegan tracking it in 2003, and all 78 of his seniorshave graduated.

During his 21 years coaching against SoCon com-petition, he has guided the Wildcats to at least 10wins in conference play 19 times.

The Wildcats went undefeated in the SoCon witha 20-0 record in 2007-08, the third time Davidsonaccomplished the feat under McKillop (14-0, 1995-96; 16-0, 2004-05). Davidson had a 43-game confer-ence win streak from 2007-09. It was one away fromtying the SoCon record and the eighth longest in col-lege basketball history.

A 1972 graduate of Hofstra, McKillop has guidedthe Wildcats to 11 SoCon divisional titles, includingeight of the last 11.

Thirty-nine of his players have gone on to playprofessionally, including Stephen Curry, the seventhpick in the 2009 NBA draft, who finished second inthe 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year voting.
