WAUSEON (Ohio) The 156th Fulton CountyFair will open on Friday, August 30. As we cometo summers end, the Fair is the event everyonehas been waiting for all summer long, and its no

surprise. For evidence, look no further than whatsslated for the 156th Fulton County Fair, which isexpected to attract well over a quarter-million visi-tors from Friday, August 30, through Thursday,September 5.

The 2013 Fulton County Fair will offer up sev-en days jam-packed with family-friendly, afford-able fun and top-notch entertainment, includingcountry music standouts Justin Moore and RandyHouser, and rock legendary group Foreigner, who will share the stage for their opening songwith Fulton County high school students. And new

to the lineup is a free concert on Thursday eveningfeaturing The Shades of Blue, who are known fortheir hit single, Oh How Happy.

But thats not all that promises to make the

156th edition of the Fair so much fun for kids from2 to 102. Theres plenty of gear-jamming, gasket-busting, man-versus-machine excitement on theschedule in the form of truck and tractor pulls, apickup truck pull, and Ohios Greatest, demolitionderby.

Theres the new 9/11 Memorial at the north-end that pays tribute to the victims of 9/11 alongwith those who serve in the military as well as,agricultural displays and competitions, harnessracing, midway rides, and Fair food, a mouth-watering collection of culinary delights that manya Fulton County taste bud longs for the other 51weeks of the year.

Headlining the Fairs Labor Day Country Con-cert is Justin Moore, a native of Poyen, Arkansas(population of 272) who moved to Nashville at

the young age of 18. Within a short time, Moorequickly had 3 hit singles under his buckle includ-ing Small Town USA, which talks about his rootsand staying true to himself and his home town,Outlaws Like Me, and Til My Last Day. Moorenished up 2012 with both of his albums reachinggold status.

Opening for Justin is Randy Houser, a manrefreshed. The positive vibes of renewal ripplethrough Housers newest single Runnin OuttaMoonlight, and How Country Feels, his rstradio No.1 hit. Many country legends have com-mented on Housers talent including Vince Gill, who called Houser one of the best in the new cropof country singer-songwriters. Houser has writ-ten numerous songs for major singers like TraceAdkins, Justin Moore and Chris Young.

Sundays 7:30 p.m. concert is one that 28 Ful-

ton County high school students will rememberfor a lifetime. Classic rock band Foreigner is hotblooded for music education and has invited lo-cal high school students to share the stage fortheir opening song I Want to Know What Loveis. The 28-student choir is comprised of four stu-dents from each of the seven Fulton County highschools. For their involvement, Foreigner and theGrammy Foundation will donate $500 to the Ful-ton County All-County Music Festival which takesplace each year.

But their support of music education isnt theonly chart-topping accolade. Foreigner is celebrat-ing almost 35 years of legendary success with 14

Top 20 hits including worldwide number one hitI Want To Know What Love Is, Urgent, Wait-ing For A Girl Like You, Hot Blooded, and Juke

Box Hero.At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Baby Boomers can twistthe night away at the Van-Dells 50s and 60s con-cert, presented free of charge at the South Stage, courtesy of the Fulton County Fair Board. And toshow their appreciation of the great communitysupport, the Fair Board is also hosting anotherfree concert at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday featur-ing soul group The Shades of Blue who are bestknown for their hit Oh How Happy. This versa-tile, high-energy group is known for their musicaltalent, choreography, and Las Vegas style comedy.

On Sunday, September 1, Adams Voice will leadthe 10:30 a.m. worship service in the ChristianMusic tent. All Things New will take the stage at5:00 p.m. for a free concert sponsored by the Ful-ton County Christian Music Ministries. All ThingsNew, a four-man group hailing from Florida, hasbeen touring with top-name Christian artists suchas the Newsboys and Building 429 and perform-ing songs from their self-titled album includingNew Man, Keep Me on My Knees, and Lead MeHome.

Sunday is also the start of a three-day series of

Corn Hole competition with mixed doubles takingplace on Monday, and youth giving it a toss on

Tuesday, September 3 which is Junior Fair Day.Equine acionados will enjoy ve days of horse

events including Jr. Fair and open class judg-ings; harness racing on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and

From beginning to end, the Fulton County Fairhas a slew of gear-jamming, clutch-popping, ear-drum-threatening activities for those who prefertheir horsepower mechanized, their art rough-hewn, and their competitions L-O-U-D. On open-ing day, Friday, August 30, NTPA-sanctioned trac-tor and truck pulls roll into the Fulton County

Grandstand ineld at 6:30 p.m. The next night,Saturday, August 31, competitors in the PickupTruck Pulls will ex their motorized muscle in theineld beginning at 6:30 p.m. And nally, on

Thursday, September 5, Ohios Greatest Demoli-tion Derby will rumble like dirty thunder into theFairs nal hours for clashes at 6:30 p.m., bringingthe 156th edition of the Fulton County Fair to a(forgive us!) bang-up conclusion.

Saturday through Wednesday afternoon, Fair-goers need to be on their best behavior in order toavoid getting ticketed by Barney Fife (imperson-ator), the bumbling deputy of Mayberry who willbe mingling with the crowd, passing out tickets, and catch fairgoers off guard with his antics. And,back by popular demand, the Fire Fighter Showwill be taking place Saturday through Tuesdaysharing important re safety tips and offering

youth to be on a re-ghting team.Throughout Fair Week, hundreds of exhibitors

young, old, and everywhere in between will vie forblue ribbons in categories that range from tradi-tional livestock and agricultural displays to pho-tography, needlework, and cake decorating. Mid-way rides will be up and running, the South Stageand Christian Music Tent will feature free enter-tainment all week long, people can stroll throughthe special south-end display featuring the historyof transportation and dozens of food vendors willserve up copious amounts of deep-fried veggies, creamy milkshakes, homegrown pork and beefsandwiches, fresh-squeezed lemonade, elephantears, Belgian wafes, and dozens of other hard-to-resist Fair treats.
