Nonprofit Partners Bayou Land Conservancy is a community-sponsored land preservation organization working with willing landowners to permanently protect land in the greater Houston region. We preserve river and bayou corridors, other properties with significant wildlife habitat value and places where family recreation can occur in harmony with nature. Bayou Land Conservancy is proud to have conserved over 8,600 acres in the greater Houston region. Buffalo Bayou Partnership is the non-profit organization revitalizing and transforming Buffalo Bayou, Houston’s most significant natural resource. The Partnership protects land for future parks and trails, coordinates other natural and built bayou enhancements, and sponsors wide ranging events, boating activities and public art installations to attract Houstonians and visitors to the bayou’s shores. The Galveston Bay Foundation was founded in 1987 as a nonprofit organization to preserve, protect and enhance Galveston Bay -- one of the world's most productive estuaries. Its balanced programs in advocacy, conservation, education, and research strive to ensure that Galveston Bay remains a beautiful and productive place for generations to come. The mission of the Houston Audubon Society is to promote the conservation and appreciation of birds and wildlife habitat, which it accomplishes through acquiring and maintaining critical habitat as bird sanctuaries, education programs for children and adults, advocacy efforts, and land conservation projects. Its activities extend beyond Houston and its surrounding counties when necessary to accomplish a conservation purpose. As a nonprofit land trust, the Katy Prairie Conservancy (KPC) works to protect green space for its conservation and recreational benefits, enhance wildlife habitat, restore tallgrass prairie and wetlands, sponsor scientific research, and offer public programming and activities to introduce the general and school-aged public to the sights and sounds of the prairie.
