Letter from the Publisher

This year marks the 30th anniversary of one of Weld County’s most popular events. The anticipation has been growing for The Greeley Tribune’s annual Home & Garden Show all year.

For those who look forward to coming to see what’s new each year, to plan their backyard addition or to visit their favorite vendor, the wait has only seemed like a month or two.

For the exhibitors, however, and for the many people at The Tribune who are responsible for making this popular show a success, it has been a year-long work in progress. Some vendors even sign up for next year’s show before they pack up their exhibits.

For months The Greeley Tribune, led by Events Producer Emily Tilton, works on the business relationships, logistical plans, floor plan, fine-tuning the display space and decide where the gardens will be to make the best possible use of the room available at the Island Grove Events Center. They do all of this to make the event as enjoyable as possible. All that hard work and planning will pay off with this year’s show Feb. 22, 23 and 24.

One of the greatest rewards for The Tribune has is in our work to connect communities. With our portfolio of services, events are bringing the community together to share an experience. Some of the most enjoyable time for The Tribune staff is interacting with homeowners & business owners that share their personal stories & thanks for the Home & Garden experience. The show provides just the right break from winter, with that look ahead to spring so people can begin to plan for their home and garden projects.

Comedian Robin Williams once said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!’ “

There’s another reason to celebrate spring at this year’s Home and Garden Show at Island Grove Regional Park. This is The Tribune’s 30th year to present the show, which has grown to become the largest such show in northern Colorado and the second largest in the state.

We expect close to 180 businesses to show their products and service to several thousand visitors during the three days of this year’s show. Are you wanting to replace the windows in your home? How about a fancy new shower in the basement bathroom. Solar panels on the roof? A fish pond in the yard? Are you planning a new flower garden in the backyard and need some ideas on how to arrange the landscaping? These are only a few examples of the do-it-yourself and home improvement ideas that you’ll find by wandering about the show this weekend.

The Home and Garden Show is also more than just a place to gather ideas to improve your home interior or exterior. It’s also a place to connect with your friends and neighbors, and a place to connect with vendors who will provide the expertise and materials you need to tackle that long-awaited home improvement project.

I have been involved in the landscaping industry since 1986 when I purchased my first landscaping business when I was 16. I operated that for 8 ½ years before I sold it to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. About 8 years later, I went back to what I love best. With the extensive experience in customer service, maintenance, design and installation of landscapes I am able to use my talents to build and create landscapes of what people’s dreams are made of. I am a Certified Aquascape builder of water features. Being a native of Colorado, I have a deep love and understanding of Colorado’s unique eco-system and habitat. I seek only to provide clients with the opportunity to create their own little oasis within the confines of their yards. I am a graduate of Front Range Community College & in my down time, I thrive on spending time with my four children on our farm riding horses and going to the lake with the boat.
