Your Resource Solution Inc. Improving small business profitability Did you know…? Some software companies are now offering “subscriptions” to their products, rather than forcing consumers to purchase the software outright. Microsoft now offers subscriptions to their products. You can pay an annual fee to be able to access their suite of products (around $100/year). Prices vary depending on product selection. Another company, Adobe, is now offering subscriptions packages too. For example, you can pay a monthly fee for a single product, or a suite of products. Watch the fine print, though. Some companies may require an annual commitment. With technology changing rapidly, small companies find it challenging to keep updated to the latest and greatest software. The subscription offers a more affordable route on a monthly basis, rather than having to outlay a large expense upfront. Another huge advantage is that some of the subscriptions guarantee that you will always have the latest version of their product.  The Top Workplaces are determined based solely on employee feedback. The employee survey is conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. WorkplaceDynamics conducts regional Top Workplaces programs with 37 major publishing partners and recognizes a list of 150 National Top Workplaces. Over the past year, more than 5,000 organizations and 1 in every 88 employees in the U.S. have turned to WorkplaceDynamics to better understand what’s on the minds of their employees.

Plymate is a third generation family owned provider of workplace apparel and floor mat programs. Owner’s Todd Plymate and Terri Plymate-Warnecke feel that their company’s success is largely attributable to the skill and commitment level of their coworkers, whose loyalty is exhibited through a high retention rate.

Plymate first implemented the use of the WorkplaceDynamics survey in 2008 as a tool to help improve organizational health. They were previously named a Top Work Place in 2009 and 2012. Plymate coworkers shared that “friendly coworkers, team work, and great managers” are a few of the reasons they consider Plymate a Top Work Place.

The Indianapolis Star published the complete list of Top Workplaces on April 14, 2013. For more information about the Top Workplaces lists and WorkplaceDynamics, please visit www.topworkplaces.com. To contact Plymate, call (317) 392-3283.

Friday, April 5, 2013 Dear Shelbyville Partners and Business Leaders,

We are thankful for your partnership and help in enabling the City of Shelbyville to continue to offer the Intelliplex Conference Center, located at 2154 Intelliplex Dr., as a beautiful, state of the art facility for a wide variety of use ranging from intimate business meetings, to large work-shops, training, social gatherings and public or private events.

Tony Cross, Director of (OJRV) “Operation Job Ready Veterans” formerly known as CLEC (Career Learning and Employment Center) and Matt Tucker, Executive officer, have their main office located in the Conference Center and are also the point of contact for renting and scheduling the use of the Conference Center facility.

Due to the demanding pace of (OJVR) Job Ready Veterans (a non-profit organization that works to connect veterans with employment, education and support programs) and the fact that the 2013 calendar is filling up fast, we want to make you, as one of our valuable partners and customers, aware of a few housekeeping items, updated rental fee(s) and scheduling requirements:

All requests for reserving/scheduling the Conference Center must be submitted in writing at-least 48 hours prior to your event. Management will make every effort to confirm the requested date(s) within 24 hours by phone and/or email. Due to the volume of calls and emails it is your responsibility to confirm your event. Depending on the month and/or season it is strongly recommended that you send in requests at least one week prior to the date of your event.

Use of the Conference Center is dependent upon scheduling availability and not guaranteed. Any cancelation must be submitted in writing or via email 24 hours prior to the scheduled event or you may forfeit your deposit.

A Conference Center Facility Request Form must be filled out, signed and returned at-least 48 hours prior to the event.

You are responsible for your own set-up, break-down and clean up with each use of the facility

There is a set $50.00 hourly rate, $100.00 refundable deposit and $40.00 janitorial fee for each use of the Conference Center (please see Intelliplex Facility User Agreement & Request Form for details).

Tony and Matt are in constant communication with the Mayor’s office and work directly with Rob Springer, Director of the Redevelopment Commission for the City of Shelbyville (317-604-0857 or [email protected]) to communicate important changes, updates and the continued scheduling and promotion of this facility. Matt Tucker is the direct contact for any questions regarding day-to-day management, upkeep, event/meeting scheduling and usage of the Intelliplex Conference Center Facility.

We look forward to growing in our partnership with the city, community and county and helping you accomplish your goals.

Orange Ribbon BreakfastOn April 12, the Shelby County Drug Free Coalition held its annual Orange Ribbon Breakfast. The attendance was great with over 120 attendees. A breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, and fruit was served. The Drug Free Coalition held a contest this year challenging eighth and tenth graders through Shelbyville and Shelby County to create a t-shirt about Alcohol Awareness.

This year’s speaker was Dr. Al Long. Dr. Long is a professor at Indiana Wesleyan, author, motivational speaker, consultant and life-long learner among various other titles. He has authored three books, Alone in a Crowd, They Called Him Joe and Leadership Tripod. As a family man, Dr. Long has made it his charge in life to give every opportunity and all of the love possible to his wife, three sons, three daughter-in-laws and nine grandchildren. Dr. Long has spent 30 plus years in education and leadership positions and has provided consulting in public and private companies across the United States. His passion for positively impacting the lives of those he serves keeps Dr. Long motivated. He is a firm believer that all men and women WILL have an opportunity for success as long as we as make every effort to “Make a Difference”. Dr. Long presented a very moving and motivational speech. His speech hit on the role that alcoholism plays in a family . His presentation showed that even if alcoholism is present in your family, with the guidance of those who are willing to make a difference, you can be a success in life.

Your Resource Solution Inc. is a newly formed business that specializes in helping streamline your business processes. Our main focus is to help small businesses utilize existing resources. Small business owners have to know so much about everything related to their business. Sometimes business processes become cumbersome and time consuming. Owners must do more with less. We can help identify key processes that can be streamlined, making the business run more eciently.

We recently helped Saint Joseph Elementary School with two projects. e rst project was developing a new lunch ordering system to eliminate paper menus.

St. Joe has worked hard the past two years to eliminate paper (weekly newsletters, announcements, lunch payments and tuition payments, and report cards are all now completed electronically). e new lunch system (to be implemented in the fall) allows parents to submit their child’s lunch orders online. Parents receive an automatically generated conrmation email. Some simple Excel-based report templates were created for the school oce to capture daily and monthly lunch totals.

Our second project was re-developing the school’s website, making it more smart-phone friendly. Part of this re-design was implementing an RSS-feed calendar that allows users to subscribe to the school events, or download specic events to their own calendars. Instead of sending home weekly teacher newsletters, teachers now update their own pages weekly, noting upcoming assignments and events as a communication tool with parents.

e projects we implemented for St. Joe helps reduce the paper traveling back and forth from school to home and back to school. It also greatly reduces the time needed to compile the daily and monthly counts for the school lunch program. e new reporting system helps reduce manual entry errors. e school calendar RSS feed provides parents with a tool that can easily be integrated into their family’s schedules. As a parent at St. Joe, I used to spend time each month entering calendar events into my personal calendar. Now I no longer have to do that.

Reviewing the school’s routine processes helped us determine what tools they needed. ese tools freed up sta ’s time to manage other responsibilities, eliminated duplication of work, and reduced potential for errors. We trained sta and faculty on how to use their new tools.

If you have been considering some project, or feel that your oce is not running smoothly, contact Your Resource Solution Inc. Our initial consultation is provided at no cost to you.
