V6J 1V4 WWW.CTCMA.BC.CA March 14, 2014 Pan-Canadian Clinical Case-study Examinations for Acupuncturists, Herbalists, and TCM Practitioners Results The Foreign Credential Recognition Program has provided $450,000 to the Canadian Alliance of Regulatory Bodies of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists (CARB-TCMPA), of which the CTCMA (College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia) is a member, to develop and put in place Pan-Canadian Entry-Level Examinations for the assessment of Canadian and internationally trained traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists. Members of CARB-TCMPA, comprising the regulatory Colleges in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland and Labrador, have been working diligently on development of the Pan-Canadian Examinations since the fall of 2012. The Examinations enhance the capacity of provincial regulatory Colleges to effectively assess and recognize the qualifications of both Canadian and internationally trained applicants seeking registration (license) to legally practice in the province of their choice. The first Pan-Canadian Entry-Level Clinical Case-study Examinations for Acupuncturists, Herbalists and TCM Practitioners were administered in January 2014. A total of 281 candidates from all provinces except Quebec participated this year. The results of the written examinations as follow: Pan Canadian Acupuncture Clinical Case-study Examination 2013 Passing grade (percentage) Results are not given in percentage, but are based on a scale range of 100 to 700. The passing score is 450. Passing rate (percentage) 65% Pan Canadian Herbalists Clinical Case-study Examination 2013 Passing grade (percentage) Results are not given in percentage, but are based on a scale range of 100 to 700. The passing score is 450. Passing rate (percentage) 63% Pan Canadian TCM Practitioners Clinical Case-study Examination 2013 Passing grade (percentage) Results are not given in percentage, but are based on a scale range of 100 to 700. The passing score is 450. Passing rate (percentage) 77%
