EYEWASH LOCATIONS
• 1118 Hampshire 3rd floor OB/GYN workroom• 1025 Maine 4th floor Urology one behind the
Reception Desk and one across from Dr. Dooley’s office
• Cancer Center Pharmacy
Note: Sinks may also be used to flush non-hazardous and non-corrosive materials from the eye.
PROCEDURE FOR USE
• Always wear safety glasses or goggles when mixing or using any corrosive or hazardous material.
Read the label for any new products you use. Note: Although not hazardous or corrosive, when using MetriZyme
always wear protective eyewear.
• In the event of an exposure, Do Not Panic! Call out for co-workers to assist you.
• Go to the eyewash station or sink to rinse both eyes with copious amounts of water for minimum of 15 minutes.
• With fingers, keep eyelids open and roll eyeballs so flushing fluid will flow on all surfaces.
PROCEDURE, CONT.
• Continue to rinse eyes for 15 minutes then have co-workers escort you to ACC.
• The ACC physician will determine whether you need further follow up.
• Notify your supervisor and Human Resources regarding incident after treatment.
MAINTENANCE OF EYE WASH STATIONS
• Eye wash stations should be flushed weekly for 3 minutes.
• Eye wash logs are posted at each station and must be kept for 3 years.
