The slogan of the event says “Gran Fondo New York brings Italian cycling culture to the world’s greatest city” because the main sponsors are indeed Italian and among them many have renewed their partnership after the success of the first edition.

Like Selle San Marco, who is proud to be among the best brands of made in Italy that support the NY Cycling Marathon.

Five thousand cyclists from 70 countries: a success for a still new, but already well-known cycling marathon. For it San Marco made the official Gran Fondo New York saddle: the Concor Racing “Gran Fondo New York” – a special edition for a special event.

The Europe’s hardest marathon (82 kilometres - with 4,200 metres of altitude difference) and a competition for heroes according to San Marco feeling.

Here come the strongest bikers, which not only challenge their limits, but choose it for the beautiful location of the Dolomites.

Selle San Marco is proud sponsor of it and, as a tribute to this event, it made a saddle just for Heroes: the CONCOR RACING PROTEK “SELLA RONDA HERO”.

It is the mythical cycling international cycling marathon dedicated to the memory of the legendary Fausto Coppi. A Mythical and Unique “Granfondo” with the highest difference in altitude of Europe (4500 m) and historical mountain roads to climb.An event that reminds the cycling as it was once upon the time,that beloved by an historical company as San Marco, born in 1935 and grown up with the cycling made of toil and great heroes as the “Campionissimo”, when with a San Marco saddle he became a myth for his legendary performances.The Granfondo “La Fausto Coppi-Selle San Marco” will be one of the most important event for San Marco during the next years: a perfect occasion to show in preview the models of the new collection.

URBAN BIKE MESSENGER MILANOThe idea of the Urban Bike Messengers comes from a group of urban cycling lovers, who brought also in Milan the culture of the pony express on bike, following the success that this activity has already had in the main capitals of the world.

LA VACAMORA - CICLOTURISTICAIt is an original no-competitive cycling race for old bicycle. The event presents a very suggestive path among the old mountain railways, today unused. You can ride again these old cog railways, where during the eighteenth century and at the beginning of the nineteenth century the only mean of transportation was the choo-choo train (cal-led “Vaca Mora”),there you can breath still nowadays the charme of that age through galleries and flyovers, that cross torrents and woods of the Valdastico.

MASHSan Marco joins the leader and precursor of the fixed gear bikes movement.This partnership makes stronger the pre-sence of our brand in the world of urban cycling.A real life style that represents very well our philosophy. Sharing the same values means to attend events and develop products fit for people that use the bicycle as alternative transportation, to move rapidly across the town, taking care of the environment.

The Red Hook Criterium (RHC) is an unsan-ctioned race held at night featuring a fixed gear criterium and a 5km running race held over multiple laps of a short technical cir-cuit. The field consists of elite athletes, track stars, amateur runners, professional cyclists, bike messengers, and urban cyclists. The RHC was born in the post-industrial Brooklyn neighborhood Red Hook. This unique event combines the underground art of street ra-cing with the intensity of high level compe-tition in a spectacular urban environment.

A HANDMADE AND DEFINED PERFORMANCEThe uniqueness of San Marco saddles stands out for details. The attention to the smallest details, that derives from the care of a handmade item and from the severe quality controls, gives to all of our models the guarantee of excellence. However not only details make the difference. Technological innovation and continuous research on the materials are a priority of the San Marco mission, that aims to create high performance products.

The experience acquired over the years is such to allow the maximum knowledge of the characteristics and the performances of the materials. This lets to exploit at best their peculiarities with excellent results in terms of quality, use and performance.

The excellence of every aspect of a San Marco saddle is the result of a series of accurate mechanical and laboratory tests, that are done in order to control the raw materials and to guarantee the quality of the product.

All the materials are processed to simulate the real ways to use the product, with the possibility to test them up to the limit of the conditions of use. In that way you can evaluate the various reactions and get also the certification of the saddles.

Once the saddles have overcome the tests of laboratory, they must be processed to a further test, that on the field. Every model is indeed tested by San Marco tester

The tests and the continuous research let San Marco obtain state-of-the-art patents, such as the revolutionary noshuffle, that for the first time in the history, enables the end of the saddle to be used completely as a support surface and to avoid so the rubbing on the adductor muscles or the Arrowhead System, which is an example of how San Marco is always careful also to the studies about the anatomical conformation of the cyclists in order to improve comfort and performances.

DNA Dynamic Node Action

This system enables to increase the rigidity of the rail, avoiding useless spin and torsion of the saddle, without compromise the comfort during the performance. The crossing X shape knot (Dynamic Node Action) is the point where all the forces concentrate. Localize the forces enables to create an additional support only in a well-defined area of the rails and in this way you can also contain the weight.

Not only. The characteristics of this rail allow one of the best adjustments in the forward and backward movement of the saddle, this thanks to a greater than normal lenght of thecarbon frames that you can find on the market.

This category of saddles has been designed thinking of riders that make an extreme use of the products both because of the many

hours on bike and because of the stress of off-road rides.

To better endure those kind of uses, San Marco studied some technical devices that help to increase the resistance of the

product and its capacity to withstand to wear and tear.

To this purpose, silicone supports have been integrated in the cover and distributed in the area subject to most wear. Besides function

as protection for the saddle, they increase also its control skill in the driven out of the saddle riding.

Suggested for the off-road, from the CrossCountry to Marathons, The PROTEK includes three models of saddle:

This Bar tape has been specifically studied for racing. It is made of microfeel, a breathable and hard wearing material, whose composition respects the standards of biocompatibility. There are two colour versions that can be matched with black or white saddles. The white bar tape has black graphics with San Marco logo allover printed, viceversa the black one has the same graphics but white.
