    WEEK 14 SCHEDULE

BIG TEN. BIG NEWS.Tile Gme Locks: With their victories last

Saturday, Michigan State and Ohio State punched

their tickets to the Big Ten Football Championship

Game, held on Dec. 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in

    Indianapolis. The Spartans defeated Northwestern

to secure the outright Legends Division

Championship, while the Buckeyes knocked off

Indiana to represent the Leaders Division in thecontest. It will be Michigan States second appear-

ance in the title game following its 2011 berth,

while Ohio State will make its Big Ten Football

    Championship Game debut.

Sprn Legend: With its victory over

Northwestern on Saturday, Michigan State claimed

its second outright division championship in the

last three years. The Spartans carry a 10-1 record

overall and are 7-0 in Big Ten play. They are looking

to end the year with a perfect conference mark for

the first time since finishing 7-0 in 1966. Michigan

State last completed conference play with an

unbeaten record in 1987 when it finished 7-0-1.

Buck-eyes on he Tile: Ohio State secured at least

a share of the Leaders Division title with Saturdays

victory over Indiana. The Buckeyes can still end the

year tied with Wisconsin to share the division title,

but Ohio State would advance to Indianapolis

based on its head-to-head win over the Badgers on

Sept. 28. The Buckeyes are 7-0 in Big Ten play and

can finish the conference season with a perfectmark for the second straight season and fourth

    time since 2002.

Eigh-for-Eigh?: Michigan State and Ohio State

each carry 7-0 conference marks into their respec-

tive matchups this weekend and look to finish the

Big Ten season with perfect records. Should the

Spartans and Buckeyes both win this weekend, the

Big Ten will see a pair of teams finish the confer-

ence season undefeated for the first time since

2002 when Iowa and Ohio State completed the

season with 8-0 Big Ten records. Prior to 2002, the

last time the Big Ten had two teams finish the year

with perfect conference records was in 1943 when

Michigan and Purdue were each 6-0.

BIG TEN FOOTBALL WEEKLY RELEASE - WEEK 14 2

    HONORING LEGENDS. BUILDING LEADERS.

Big Ten schools have produced more than 1,450 Academic All-Americans, more than any other conference,

including 46 in the last academic year.

    Reching Double Digis:Two conference teams

have already secured 10-win seasons, while

another can reach the milestone in the final

week of the regular season. Ohio State is one of

just four teams in the nation with 11 wins this

season after knocking off Indiana, while

Michigan State reached the 10-win mark follow-

ing its win over Northwestern. A Wisconsin vic-

tory this weekend would give the Big Ten three

teams with at least 10 victories to end the regu-lar season. In addition, Minnesota and Nebraska

have an opportunity to finish the year with 10

wins, needing victories this weekend and in

their respective bowl games to achieve the feat.

The conference last officially had four teams

record at least 10 wins in 2003 and has never

had five teams reach the landmark.

Srek 23: Ohio State established a new pro-

gram record in its victory over Indiana Saturday,

    extending the nations longest active-winning

streak to 23 games. The Buckeyes own the con-

ferences fifth-longest streak in history and have

the longest winning streak by a Big Ten team in

more than 60 years. Ohio State is one victory

behind the 24 straight wins by the 1903-05Minnesota programs. The Buckeyes 15 consec-

utive wins in conference games only are tied for

eighth in Big Ten history. The Buckeyes are one

of four teams in the nation boasting 11-0

records and one of five undefeated teams.

BCS Rnkings: Three Big Ten programs are

ranked among the top 15 in the latest Bowl

    Championship Series (BCS) standings. Ohio

State set a school record with its 23rd straight

victory and improved to 11-0 to hold steady at

No. 3 in the BCS poll, the Buckeyes highest

placement since ending the 2007 campaign at

No. 1 overall. Michigan State picked up its 10th

win and rose two spots to No. 11 in the BCS

poll, the Spartans highest ranking since beingslotted at No. 11 on Oct. 23, 2011. Wisconsin

earned its ninth victory and climbed four slots

to No. 15 in the BCS standings, the Badgers

first top-15 rating since ending the 2011 sea-

    son at No. 10 overall.

Finl Weekend of Divisionl Ply: The final

week of the regular season includes four divi-

    sional matchups, beginning with Fridays

Legends Division contest featuring Iowa at

Nebraska. In addition, Minnesota travels to

Michigan State in the second Legends Division

contest of the weekend. Two Leaders Division

contests are scheduled for Saturday as Purdue

visits Indiana and Penn State heads to

Wisconsin. The Badgers still have an opportuni-

ty to earn a share of the Leaders Division crown,

needing a win over the Nittany Lions and a

    Michigan victory against Ohio State.

Trophy Time: Three Big Ten trophies will be onthe line this weekend as Purdue faces Indiana

for the Old Oaken Bucket, Northwestern visits

Illinois with the Land of Lincoln Trophy at stake

and Iowa travels to Nebraska with the winner

earning the Heroes Trophy. The Boilermakers

and Hoosiers began playing for the Old Oaken

Bucket in 1925, with Purdue holding a 58-27-3

edge in the trophy game. The Land of Lincoln

Trophy will be awarded for the fifth time to

this years winner between Northwestern and

Illinois, with each school holding two wins in

the series. The Heroes Trophy is in its third

    installment between the Hawkeyes and

Huskers, with Nebraska winning both previous

    contests.

    Trcking S Chmpions: Several conference

standouts are looking to finish the season as

individual stat champions in conference games

only. Less than one yard per game separates

Ohio States Carlos Hyde, the current rushing

leader at 146.1 yards per game, and Nebraskas

Ameer Abdullah, who is second at 145.4. Hyde

looks to become the first Buckeye since Chris

Wells in 2007 to lead the conference in rushing,

while Abdullah would be the first Husker to win

the category. Hyde is also on track to lead the

Big Ten in scoring for the second year in a row,

averaging 12 points per game. Ohio States

Braxton Miller is the leader in total offense,

averaging 296.3 yards per game. He looks to

become the first Buckeye to top the conferencein that category since Bobby Hoying in 1995.

Penn States Allen Robinson is averaging 123.1

receiving yards per game and is on pace to

become the first player since Purdues Brian

Alford in 1996 and 1997 to lead the conference

in receiving yards per game in consecutive sea-

sons. Averaging nine catches per game,

Robinson is on pace for the most receptions per

game since Purdues Chris Daniels recorded 9.9

    receptions per contest in 1999.
