recordfortheninthtimeinthelast10years.TheTitanscompileda22-19record,includingan11-7markforthirdplaceinthePresident’sAthleticConference(PAC),in2012.TheTitansledtheconferenceinsacrificehits(46),assists389)anddoubleplaysturned(20).SincethePACstartedtakingonlythetopfourteamsforitschampionshiptournamentin2006,theTitanshavequalifiedsixofthelastsevenyears.
Havingonlygraduatedtwoplayersfromthe2012squad,theTitanslooktoexperienceandleadershiptobringthembacktotheplayoffs.Thosereturningincludefourall-PACplayersfromayearago.SeniorsChelsea Brown (New Castle, Pa/Mohawk),Layne Carpenter (Marietta, Oh/Marietta),andKatie Hughes (Boardman, Oh/Cardinal Mooney)andjunior Kelsey Squelch (Pittsburgh, Pa/Perry Traditional).Brownledtheteamonthemoundandwassecondintheconferencewithacareer-best16wins.Hugheswasanall-Regionplayerasadesignatorhitterin2011beforeswitchingrolesto

atraditionofwinning.AlthoughtheCollegewasfoundedin1852,varsityathleticsatWestminsterdidnotbecomeprevalentuntil1884.Beginningin1926,thesportsteamsatWestminsterbecameknownasthe“Titans,”afterasportswriterforthestudentnews-paper,The Holcad,nicknamedtheresurgentbasketballteamthe“ToweringTitans”becauseofyounger,tallermenthatmadeupthestartinglineup.TheathleticsprogramatWestminsterbecamebestknownforthesuccessofitsfootballandmen’sbasketballteams.TheTitanfootballteamwonsixNAIANationalChampionshipsfrom1970-94and71%(398-157-10)ofitsgamessince1952.Themen’sbasketballteam,honoredbytheAssociated Pressasthenation’stopsmallcollegeteamin1962,wastheall-timewinningestNAIAteambeforeWestmin-sterjoinedtheNCAAin1998.
