Local artist Frances Broomfield presents an exhibition of paintings inspired by the characters in Lewis Carroll’s books Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.

Our Past. Our Present. Our Future.1 March - 21 June 2014, Mezzanine Gallery

Within Warrington, there is a real desire to ensure that we never forget the events of our past, including the tragic events that took place when an IRA bomb exploded in Bridge Street on 20th March 1993. However, it is also important that we look to the future. This exhibition of stunning images has been produced by children from 20 schools that took part in workshops led by the artists Andy and Sharon Shaw and represents Warrington’s commitment to peace and reconciliation.

An exhibition of art produced by three of Warrington’s secondary schools, exploring the theme of memories.

See the latest artistic talent from Warrington in this new show. Students from Priestley College have been inspired by paintings in the Museum’s collection to produce new works, which are displayed alongside the originals.

The Hot Press 2014 June - 16 September 2014, Gallery 4

Renowned printmakers’ studio Hot Bed Press celebrates its 20th birthday with a new exhibition

featuring the work of 20 different artists. To coincide with the exhibition, the Museum will host the five-week School of

Print where you can experience printmaking for yourself. Under the guidance of Hot Bed Press tutors you can learn all about a whole range of printmaking techniques including monoprint, drypoint and gum arabic transfer. The Great War: Personal Responses28 June - 20 September 2014, Mezzanine Gallery

Seen through the filter of collective recollection, documentary accounts and family histories, this exhibition represents the personal responses of leading Cheshire artists to World War One.

What’s the point of art? This exhibition aims to help you understand what art is, why it’s important and how it works. Rather than focusing on the movements, history and terminology of art, the show explores subject matter and composition, as well as the artist’s possible motives for creating the piece.

The Hot Bed Press runs the largest open access print workshop in the region, providing specialist printmaking equipment and expertise in printmaking and book arts. To celebrate their 20th birthday they are bringing some of their acclaimed courses to Warrington for the Summer School of Print.
